Holding Mama's hand I walked towards my wedding venue in a white wedding dress. People were standing on both sides as I walked past them all. Together with Mama on my right and my cousin Amira on my left.
When I arrived at the stage where I was going to have my wedding, Mama gave me a soft kiss on my cheek before making me sit next to my future husband.
He lowered his head as a sign of respect to Mama. We sat down in front of several people who would witness our marriage, including Papa who would marry me and him.
Although the show was about to take place, I felt so nervous. To be honest, I was expecting this day to happen when one day I would get married, but it's too soon for me. But I don't want to comment on my marriage anymore. I know that what my family does, especially Papa and Mama, is what's best for me.
My future husband wears a white suit that looks compatible with the dress I use. I'm not too familiar with him. There's only one thing I remember about him. He had a sharp chin that refined the shape of his face.
The marriage started with a man who mentioned our names. When his name called my heart skipped a beat because I knew that the name of the man mentioned would be my husband from today.
"Ananda Alzam Ammar, I marry you...."
I closed my eyes when I heard Papa's voice say that sentence and a few moments later, I heard the voice of the person who said 'right.'
After that he took out a ring and pinned it to my right ring finger. The ring looked simple but was made with advance ordering. A diamond is in the middle of the platinum ring. And there's an initial that says AF.
I held her hand and put the ring on her fingers. Her hands felt so warm and I loved the warmth of her hands.
We went back to the person sitting in front of us and the host of my wedding told me that my husband could kiss me.
I sighed deeply, she was going to kiss me and this was my first kiss. Where I never did with anyone else even if it was just a kiss on the forehead or on the cheek let alone on the lips.
He looked back at me. His hand held both of my hands and after that he kissed my forehead. I smiled at him and he looked back at me.
Everyone applauded. I can see the happiness of my whole family especially from Opa Reyhan and Oma Izzah and also my Mama and Papa and my entire extended family.
I finally let go of my single days, after so much consideration. After the day that Mama and Papa showed me the figure of the man who would be my husband on Oma and Opa's wedding anniversary that time.
I didn't talk to him much and we can even say we didn't say anything. We just stared at each other for a moment, after which Oma suggested to me to ask for prayers and instructions from God, whether he was a soul mate that God sent for me. And after I did what Oma suggested, I got a hint that I should indeed accept the matchmaking my family did and here I am today.
I ended up being the legal wife of a man I had never known before.
The wedding was over but the next was the reception where I had no more energy left.
...****************...
Now I hold hands with my husband.
The wedding is finally over. Although my family can be called the family that is, but we all agreed not to overdo it in holding my wedding party. We all choose to do it simply attended by family and relatives dejat only.
"Hi, I'm Ivan, brother of Ammar."
A voice sounded from behind me. I turned around with my husband who still did not let go of my hand.
"Hi sister-in-law." I said softly with a smile.
I realized that beside my sister-in-law there was a woman. I think she must be the wife of my sister-in-law. Noticing my eyes, Ivan introduced his wife Alvita and 5-year-old daughter Ria.
I bowed my head towards them politely and waved my hand towards the little girl who was hiding behind Kak Vita. Ria peeked at me and waved her hand. I chuckled, realizing that he was secretly staring at me.
Another teenage boy approached me. He shook my hand and my husband's hand and congratulated our marriage.
"He's my brother Ferry."
A voice rang out in my ear and then I was so shocked to realize that it was my husband talking this time.
Yes he spoke to me and I nodded and told him I understood.
We talked to other family and friends before my parents and my in-laws got close to us.
My mother held my hand and I started crying. My mother hugged me as if she would let me go forever. I then looked towards Papa and Papa coming towards me with a bright smile on his face.
"Pa....." I started crying again.
"Shhh.... A princess cannot cry." Papa's words pulled me into Papa's arms.
"I'm gonna miss Papa." I said with a cry.
"Don't cry because your make-up will be broken." Papa said with a laugh and there was a cry in his eyes.
I stopped crying and remained silent.
"I won't cry, take care of me and my mom." My speech.
After that I say goodbye to the rest of my family. Starting from Sis Denis and his wife Amel, Kak Dafa with his wife Kak Sheila, and Amira and her husband Ariel.
And most of all, I say goodbye to my two favorite couples, Opa Reyhan and Oma Izzah. The two of them hugged me so tightly that they did not forget to give me some advice.
"Thank you for granting Oma and Opa's wish before we both left this world." Oma Izzah said to me.
"Don't say that Oma." My words started crying.
I can't imagine if the two of them would leave me so soon.
"Oma and Opa are still healthy. So you two will definitely be able to see your great-grandchildren from all of us later." I said to Oma Izzah, whose eyes were glazed over.
My cheeks felt flushed after saying I would give a great-grandchild to Oma and Opa.
Oma Izzah then kissed my forehead and hugged me back. After that I went back to my mom and hugged Mama very tightly.
Once again I cried in my arms and suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to look at the owner of the hand, and it turned out that it was Ammar who was trying to make me feel comfortable with the smile from his lips.
After that we walked to the car. I waved to my whole family. The car that I was riding was moving away and made me start crying again. Ammar gave me a handkerchief.
Moments later, the car stopped in front of a very large house. I got out of the car and he held my hand and then we walked out. But our steps were stopped by the voice of her Mama.
"What are you doing? Carry him into the house." Her Mama's orders.
Suddenly I could feel my cheeks warm up. He carried me in his arms towards my new home. He then put my body on a sofa in the living room and walked away. I don't know what to do now.
A woman who looked the same age as me walked over to me. She looked so familiar and I realized that I met her at my wedding.
"Hi I am Eva, cousin of Ammar." He smiled at me and shook hands with me.
"What are you doing here? It's almost time. Go back to your room. Come on, I'll show you the way." Eva pushed me up the stairs.
"I I still haven't taken my bag. Can you help me with that?" I asked Eva in a nervous voice.
"Auntie says you'll bring your things home tomorrow." Saying to Eva casually.
I did not reply and we arrived at the door of a room that belonged to Ammar.
'Oh I forgot to take it now this room is our room.'
Eva opened the door and made me walk inside. He smiled at me before closing the door. I turned around to look into the room. Everything seemed to surprise me because everything was red except for my wedding dress.
There were lights that glowed and there was the scent of roses everywhere. The bed was filled with white rose petals that were so contrasting with the red bed sheets. I was so nervous at that moment.
My head turned and looked around the room.
'Where is he now? Then, what should I do later?' my question is in my heart.
There are so many questions that keep coming to my mind.
I sat on the bed leaning against the head of the bed holding a red pillow and hugging it.
I suddenly heard the sound of the door opening and it turned out to be a sound coming from the open bathroom door. He seemed to walk closer towards the sofa by wiping his wet black hair with a towel. He wears a white t-shirt and blue shorts. He sat down on the couch and looked at me.
I also looked towards him. After realizing that he was staring at me, he opened his mouth and started talking to me.
"Make yourself comfortable. Go make yourself feel fresh first." Said me.
"Emmm... I'm...." My words were stopped by him.
"Oh sorry, I forgot to tell you that there's another toothbrush in the right drawer in the bathroom. As for the other items, you should use mine today for a while." Say it to me again.
I stood up from the bed and walked towards the bathroom. I heard footsteps approaching towards me. I quickly flipped my body in the direction where the sound of footsteps came from.
Bruk!!!
I hit his chest with my head. We were so close to each other. He held my waist, helping me not to fall to the floor. He then removed his hand from my waist as I was able to stand steady and he was heard gulping his saliva.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to do it. My mom said that your clothes aren't here yet. So you have to use mine today." Said me.
I just nodded my head. He then entered the changing room next to the bathroom. He walked out carrying a navy t-shirt and black shorts. He also held a white bath towel in his other hand.
He approached me and said, "i've never used this one before. So you can use it."
I grabbed the clothes and walked into the bathroom. I think I finally got out of the bathroom after 30 minutes or so.
...****************...
PoV Ammar
He walked out with his black hair that almost touched his waist.
"Hair dryer's in the drawer over there." My words pointed towards the drawer in the locker room, after seeing him trying to dry his hair.
I glanced at him once in a while as he dried his hair. I started focusing on my phone again as she walked out of the room. He walked over to me and sat on the sofa beside me. I looked towards him and there was a sense of awkwardness and silence that enveloped both of us.
I need to stop this awkwardness between the two of us.
"You can sleep on the bed and I'll sleep on the couch." I said with a smile.
I could feel the discomfort between us.
'You two are complete strangers. So this is the right decision for you Ammar.' I told myself.
"No, you can sleep on the bed."
I looked at him in surprise.
"I, I mean that couch is too small for you. We can sleep in the same place together." He looked at me who was still surprised.
"Are you sure?" Ask him.
"Emmmm that doesn't matter, because after all you're my husband." Her speech.
The husband she said made it look like butterflies were flying in my stomach.
"Which side of the bed do you like?" Ask him.
And he replied to me, "oh let me sleep on the left side. Don't you mind that?"
"Ah I was afraid that you would choose the right side, because that is the position I usually sleep in. But it turns out you chose the left and it makes me relieved." Saying to him.
I think it was the longest I said to him for the first time.
We lay down on the side of the bed and covered our bodies with blankets. It was my first experience sharing my bed with someone and it was really my first experience. I never even let my friend sleep with me.
My mind was distracted by the person by my side who kept turning left and right for more than 5 minutes.
I held her hand and said, "do you feel uncomfortable sleeping in the same place as me?"
"Not because of that. This place is so new to me and I always sleep hugging my teddy bear at home. So that's why I can't sleep." Her speech.
"Then let me keep you company until you get sleepy. Do you want to?" I asked him if it would make him feel comfortable.
"Of course, so let's get to know each other." She smiled and sat on the bed crossing her legs.
I sat down with him and started to introduce myself.
"My name is Alzam Ammar. People usually call me Ammar. I'm 170 cm tall and I weigh about 74-78 kilograms, that's all." My speech.
He smiled at me and began to introduce himself to me.
"I am Faradina Wijaya and my friends call me Fara. For my height I think about 158 cm and I weigh about 50 kilos or maybe less."
I nodded my head and told him we could play with 20 questions. He agreed and said that we could get to know each other and smile at me.
"You go first." My words pointed towards him.
"All right, let me get started." The reply.
"Coffee or tea?" Her speech.
"Mmmm maybe coffee?" My words sounded more of a question than an answer.
He nodded his head and continued his words.
"Dark or light-colored clothing?"
A little difficult question. I thought for a while and I chose the color I wear more often.
"Light color." Smiling words.
"Like to have pets or not?" He raised his left eyebrow when he asked me.
To be honest with you, I'm not a person who likes pets too much. But what would he think if I told him that I don't like pets. He will definitely feel disappointed because he really likes to keep pets and plans to have them in the future.
"My answer." His words brought me back to my consciousness.
"Oh okay. I will answer you honestly. So don't be disappointed." I said to see his reaction.
He smiled at me and I continued to say it again.
"No, I don't like having pets." My speech.
"Truly a relief." Smiling words.
I was confused as to why it would make him feel relieved.
'Wait first! Does he also dislike raising animals?'
I think now I myself am confused by this look on my face. He laughed and answered my confusion.
"Yes, I don't like keeping animals."
'Did he just read my mind?'
"The next question is, are you ready to commit to this marriage?" Her speech.
"Yes I'm much better prepared for this." I said honestly.
Even though this was a marriage arranged by our family, I did want to marry her. I once had a lover, but had to break up with him because my parents forced me to marry him. In all my life, I have never dated a woman so seriously. Because I know very well what my family's traditions are.
So I just play around with my girlfriends and never make physical contact let alone put my heart on them. There's only one motto in my life, 'love after marriage and wife is your only love.'
"Short order or phone call for communication?" Say again.
"Both don't matter to me." I reply to him.
The fact is I was like that. I have no problem with how to connect over the phone. Be it through short messages, phone calls or even video calls. It all depends on my feelings.
"Next, mountains, beaches, monuments or other places of recreation?" Say again.
"Mount and beach." Reply me.
To be honest, I couldn't have been asked to choose one of those.
"Pick one." Said laughing.
"Well, I'll choose the mountain." My speech.
"Morning or night?" Her speech.
"Night, I guess." Reply me.
"Eating outside or house food?" Say it to me again.
"It all depends on how I feel." My reply
His eyebrows looked raised and it looked quite adorable.
"Pick one." Protest again.
"Oh I eat more outside." My reply.
"Introvert or extrovert?" Her speech.
"Extrovert I think." Reply me.
"Family or friends?"
"family." Reply quickly.
I tell the truth with I choose family over friends if I am asked to choose a decision between the two. But that doesn't mean that I'll leave my playmates, where I'm with them more often.
"I don't think I have any more questions to ask you." Smiling words.
I nodded my head too.
"That's not 20 questions. That's just 10 questions." My speech.
He also laughed immediately.
Seriate...
