Erik growled, trying to get rid of the pain that felt more real when he saw a woman who had loved him so much in the past was now hugging another man. Moreover, when Erik found the gaze of love that had always been given to him now turned to the man who he said was the adoptive brother of the woman herself. Be ill. That feeling is getting real now. The decision to follow Varissa secretly turned out to have a very bad effect on his heart now.
"Mas, how long?" mauren asked impatiently. Followed by the giant steps of Erik who moved towards his desk. "Where? Is Varissa leaping?"
Erik shook his head weakly. "Fragal."
"Where the hell, Mas? Why, you're referring to your stupid ex-wife, you're not so good?"
Erik. A sharp hissing warned Mauren through the sharp gaze of her eyes. Instantly, the woman grimaced. Bend down if Erik's anger is provoked accidentally again.
"Sorry, Mom!" the woman whispered slowly.
Compared to the words of Mauren who was always flippant like that, Erik was much more angry when he recalled the annoying scenery he witnessed on the rooftop just now. Since when?
Since when did Varissa and Dikta change that close? Since when did the unnatural relationship between them start to form? Or, don't-don't...
"Have you been cheating on your own foster brother, Va?" Erik grunting. Didn't expect that Varissa would do the same thing she did. But, is that right? Why was Erik on the other side also feeling doubtful?
******
The grand wedding that Erik and Mauren had lavishly prepared finally arrived. The happy couple looked so happy. In fact, with both of their parents who look so proud of their children's party is amazingly lively.
The guests took turns congratulating. Entertainment from famous singers increasingly add to the boisterous atmosphere of the party held in the famous hotel ballroom.
"It's ordinary!" the man standing next to Varissa. His face looked uninspired and chose to play the champagne glass in his hand.
"Oh yeah?"
"I've been to far better parties than this." Dikta.
Varissa did not comment. Choosing to be silent and nodding his head while looking around for where Erik and Mauren are currently.
"Later, our party will be much nicer than this," Dikta added.
Varissa's face flushed. What did he say? Our party? Does that mean that Dikta has already started thinking about marriage?
"Are you going to marry me?" ask Varissa anyways. Yes, although in fact he waited anxiously for the answer to that question.
Without hesitation, Dikta nodded his head. "If you don't want to get married, why am I chasing you? Despite being unemployed, I'm not the kind of guy who likes to waste time messing around."
Varissa clucking. Although it was the answer he wanted, but he did not like the way Dikta delivered that sounded very unromantic.
"Why?" reprimand Dikta with his flat face.
"It's okay" replied Varissa.
"It's people, can't you say a bit romantic, can you? Bummer!"
"E-eh..," Varissa was surprised. The flat man had just paired a necklace with a heart-shaped pendant around his neck.
"Likes?" tanya Dikta after putting the necklace on the neck of the woman he loved.
Varissa's soft fingers held a necklace pendant that was now beautifully coiled around her neck. He nodded while muttering thanks to the giver.
"Take another look at my words! She's romantic!"
The woman blushed while the man standing next to her seemed to be smiling in satisfaction.
"You guys are coming too!" erik came with his new wife.
"Congratulations to your marriage!"
Ignoring Mauren's cynical gaze, Varissa happily reached out a congratulating hand. However, her ex-husband seemed reluctant to accept the helping hand. Instead, the man simply continued to stare at Varissa with an incomprehensible look.
"Thank you" Mauren replied. In his deputy, the husband shook Varissa's hand while laughing at her husband's ex-wife's disdain.
"Don't be sad, yeah! It's not my fault that Mas Erik prefers me over you!" said Mauren haughty. Trying to intimidate her husband's ex-wife into becoming the laughingstock of the invited guests.
"Are you proud to finally get married to my ex-husband?" ask Varissa with a smile.
"Oh, obviously!" sahut Mauren who increasingly adds tightly to his embrace on Erik's arm.
Varissa gave a small laugh hearing the answer from the actor who had taken her husband. Not a single bit of heartache remained in Varissa for Mauren and Erik now. He chose peace. Tossing away the past and the bitter memories went away from his life.
There is no point in lamenting the love that was created not for us. If Erik chooses to cheat, then Varissa chooses to let go. There is no point in sharing with other women when he himself already knows where Erik's affection will be anchored. And, Varissa is not a walking ATM that Erik can casually use to support his parents, his sister, relatives, let alone his affair.
"Getting a husband from the results of stealing from other women, what should be proud like this? You're not ashamed?" ask Varissa in front of everyone.
Mauren let out a rough sigh. Her hand tried to hold her back not to slap her ex-wife's cheek for not wanting to embarrass herself in front of the invited guests.
"I'm not here to argue with Ma'am and Mas Erik anyway." Varissa took out an envelope from her bag. The envelope was passed to Mauren, who received the woman with furrowed eyebrows.
"That's a formal letter of dismissal for both of you." Varissa gladly explained the contents of the envelope to Mauren.
"In it also contains a letter of approval from Mas Erik to surrender his shares back to the company in exchange for embezzlement of funds that you have been doing." The beautiful woman continued her words with a smile.
Mauren looked at Erik asking for confirmation of Varissa's statement. However, the man only snarled. He fell down with his eyes closed and was unable to say anything.
"Is this how you return the favor to the person who's been with you all this time, Varissa?"
That's a scream from her ex-mother-in-law. Retno.
"When have I been in debt to Mas Erik, Auntie?" varissa said with a look of wonder.
"As far as Varissa knows, it was Mas Erik who had a lot of debt with me. At least, until the end, I still used my conscience in avenging Mas Erik's mistreatment of me all this time. If not, then it is not only Mas Erik's shares that I will confiscate. But, maybe now Mas Erik could have this luxurious wedding in prison. Not here!"
"You.." Retno prepared to charge towards Varissa.
"I just want to say that, Mom! Again, congratulations!" varissa said as she patted Erik on the shoulder. Choosing to ignore the former mother-in-law who has started a beard fire.
PRANGS!!
Varissa's steps came to a halt as the sound of the broken glass rang out loud in her ears. Trembling, he turned around and found shattered glass fragments strewn across the floor. Both of his senses shook as he looked up and found the tall man with long hair standing behind him. Slowly, the man turned to face him. A sweet smile emanated on the face of his handsome who was now stained due to the blood coming from the end of his temple.
"Ta! You're bleeding!" ringis Varissa with tears that instantly shed. His hand tried to touch the man's wound but was held back.
"Don't touch it, your hands will get dirty!" said Dikta with an ordinary look. There was no pain she showed in front of Varissa.
"But you are wounded! There's a lot of blood, Ta! What hurts? Whom? We're going to the hospital, yeah! Come on!" Varissa panic. Confused which to do first.
Meanwhile, Retno was in her place while throwing her face. Really am! There was no intention of harming anyone at the wedding of the son. All of that is just reflex movements due to emotions. Who would have thought, if the man who had been silent next to Varissa would be a shield when Retno threw her glass at Varissa out of anger.
"Auntie outrageous!" peekik Varissa half yelled.
