A Wedding

"A little later we get home, Mother" said Bram after several times watching Gendis sitting next to him.

The fatty was just speechless, he felt his body feel cold hot as they were already heading towards his mother-in-law's mansion.

"Just say it, Mom! " gendis said as she looked at Bram's phone that kept ringing. Gendis could see what the name of the person who was making the call was.

"Maybe important." circus Gendis, when Bram just turned his head to look at her deeper. The man needs faith, for his wife's answer.

The car that stopped in front of the ancient house with a large yard did not immediately make its passengers go down. They were silent for a moment with their own thoughts.

"I'll get off first!" pamit Gendis in the end, when he saw the middle-aged woman walking in a hurry to welcome him.

"We'll talk later!" bram said, as Gendis opened the car door.

The girl paused for a moment before descending leaving Bram who was seen opening the call from Seruni. Tell you what, something made his heart ache. Could it be that her heart had already surpassed the limits as the wife of a marriage standing over an arranged marriage?

"Why does my heart feel this sick, it feels like it's being betrayed" Gendis murmured inwardly. He hurriedly got out of the car before getting even more injured hearing the conversation of the two lovers.

Gendis got out of the car by trying to display a cheerful smiling face, especially when she saw the mother-in-law who walked to welcome her arrival. He did not want to make the attentive woman feel disappointed.

"How are you, Nduk?" welcome Ms. Aaron and then hug her favorite daughter-in-law.

"Your body is hot. You sick?" continued Bu Aaron as he stretched his embrace on Gendis. He examined the face of Gendis who looked flushed.

"A little unwell, Mom." replied Gendis with a smile.

"Come, go straight into the room!" take Bu Aaron who has prepared a room for Gendis and Bram, when Bram informs him that he is on his way to his house.

"Bram, why don't you come in? His wife is sick. Is the child still the same attitude that is indifferent to people." grumbled Bu Aaron when he had not seen Bram enter.

After helping Gendis lay down on a large bed, Ms. Aaron immediately stepped out to look for her son's whereabouts.

Seen Bram who had just stepped in, the woman who had been seen panicking was directly approaching his son.

"Don't you know if your wife has a fever?" ma'am Aaron asked with a serious face while blocking his son's steps.

"Is that a little bit of your treatment of Gendis?" continued Ms. Aaron without waiting for an explanation to Bram.

"Bram, don't know if Gendis has a fever." Bram replied then walked hurriedly towards the room and was followed by his mother.

It looks like Gendis curled up with a blanket covering her body from leg to neck. Really, Bram does not know if the condition of Gendis gets worse after being seen sneezing several times.

"Bram will take Gendis to the hospital alone, Mom." said Bram looks panicked after checking Gendis' body temperature with his palm. He also thought, still late afternoon.

"Mother will call Bu Yeni, the village midwife." said Bu Harun.

"Let's just Bram, Mom." sidelines Bram to make Bu Aaron stop his steps.

"Gendis' company! She would have wanted you to be with her." welcome Ms. Aaron then walk quickly leaving Bram who looks uncomfortable with her mother's gaze.

The weakest thing for Bram is about the woman who has struggled to fight and raise herself alone.

"Nlady..." There was no answer from Gendis to make himself feel uncomfortable with his position. But, the man tried to convince himself that Gendis' attitude was only because he was sick.

A few minutes later, Ms. Harun came with a village midwife who lived two houses apart from her house.

"Excuse me, Mas Bram." said Bu Nuning while taking over Bram's position and checking Gendis' blood pressure.

"Is Mas Bram's wife menstruating late?" bu Nuning's question made Gendis open her eyes.

"Just yesterday finished menstruation, ma'am." said Gendis. Bram had since noticed Gendis who was silent, so he did not focus on the condition of Gendis.

"If later the hot night does not go down, it is better to go to the doctor, Mas" said Bu Nuning by giving two types of drugs. He also did not dare to act more because of his status of midwife instead of doctor.

Ms. Aaron returned to escort Ms. Nuning back, the two women walked together by talking about something.

Bram climbed onto the bed, laying down his body right behind Gendis who was now lying in a back position.

"We're going to the doctor, Ndis?" bram asked as he looked at the tiny body from behind. Looks like Gendis just shook her head.

The atmosphere looked silent, they were silent with quite an uneasy feeling. In fact, Gendis had shed tears. Not only his body, but his mind and heart were not fine either. The girl clutched her blanket involuntarily, as if venting her wounded heart.

Gendis Pov

I'm on a threshold that I don't know until when. Supposedly, a marriage creates many differences, distances and many other restrictions. But, different from my marriage with Mas Bram.

I'm kind of tossed around in this marriage and I've been stuck in it. Truly, losing Papa and Mama made me unable to think well, where my life goals for the next, even the picture of my future life did not cross my mind.

The sense of loss made me just want to do what Papa asked for the last time, without being able to think, if everything became this complicated.

Marriage is the most complicated thing I've ever lived in my life. Right now, I feel like I'm on the verge of a boundary, a boundary that I can't get through easily and a boundary that I can't just leave behind. In fact, until when this boundary will stand firm, I myself do not know.

The sound of the creaking of the open door made Gendis wipe away her tears. She didn't want her mother-in-law or Bram to see her cry.

In fact, Bram who had been silent since then sat down. The man was already uncomfortable with the situation that Gendis created.

"Bram, feed your wife a meal and take medicine!" tell Ms. Aaron by bringing food and drink to the room.

Bram immediately greeted what his mother brought, while Gendis began to open her eyes and continued to sit down.

"Gendis isn't very sick, ma'am. Gendis was just tired and bloated." - Gendis as her in-laws sat next to her. From Bu Aaron's gaze, Gendis knew that her in-laws were quite worried about her condition.

"You better eat, keep taking medicine" said Bram by holding a plate of rice with a small enough portion that his mother brought to Gendis.

"I'll eat myself, Mas." said Gendis by taking over the spoon and plate from Bram's hand.

Bram just looked at Gendis, he felt that there was something different about Gendis. Gendis seemed to shy away from him, after knowing his relationship with Seruni in detail.
