Behind All Changes

Behind All Changes
Chapter 10

"Daughter Father, I was worried about you. Father called you earlier, but your phone was always dead,"

Lidya had just set foot. His father's voice he first heard. A voice that he hates most.

Lidya reached into her phone in her pocket and looked at her phone screen.

"I'm sorry, but there's no notification you've reached me" Lidya said.

Lidya's father snorted resentfully at seeing his daughter humiliating him in front of Mommy Kelvin. Intended to be a good father in front of Mommy Kelvin, uh.

"Tante, what's the need to call me?" Ask Lidya.

"Please tell your father to go" Mommy Kelvin whispered.

Lidya did not reply to Mommy Kelvin's whisper she walked up to her father.

"You see now I'm fine. Take your wife and get out of this room. Because I don't want to see your sickening face," said Lidya expelling his father and stepmother.

Actually it was done Lidya not because of a request from Mommy Kelvin, but a request from his heart the deepest.

"But, son. Our candidates are treated in the hospital. Can't we accompany him?" Ask Stepmom Lidya.

"Companying? Do you think you can stay at home with the sick?" Lidya smiled mockingly.

"No need to accompany him. His wife, son, and future son-in-law are here. So you are not in need," said Lidya emphasized the word prospective daughter-in-law.

"Ca-prospective son-in-law?" Stepmother Lidya looked surprised.

"Yes, they are my future in-laws. So I'm their daughter-in-law's candidate. Why is your face surprised? Didn't you prepare for my wedding?" Lidya asked in a mocking tone.

"Bu-not us, but your mother is the one who betrothed you," said Lidya's father.

"Oh yeah it's good that my mom is preparing for my wedding. Because I don't want you to choose a partner for my life" said Lidya.

"Now you can go. The door is there" said Lidya, pointing at the door to get out and in.

After saying goodbye to Mommy Kelvin, they both came out. Not forgetting the cynical look they gave to Lidya. And Lidya also returned their gazes no less cynical.

"Thank you, Lidya" said Mommy Kelvin.

"The same," replied Lidya.

"What did you say Lidya was?" Ask Kelvin.

"You mean?" Ask Lidya.

Lidya is confused by Kelvin's words. He had even said not just one two words but dozens of words. How can Lidya remember anything she said.

"What did you say to your parents?" Ask Kelvin.

"My parents? Wh who? As long as you know, I don't have parents. My parents passed away 6 months ago" Lidya replied to Kelvin's remark that Lidya's father and stepmother were his parents.

"I mean. Who are you to my parents and who are my parents to you" Kelvin said.

"I'm their son-in-law and they're my future in-laws" Lidya replied.

"Do you accept our marriage?" Ask Kelvin.

Lidya nodded.

"I will try to accept it" Lidya replied.

Kelvin just wanted to move around hugging Lidya because of her happiness. But Lidya's hand prevents her from hugging Lidya.

"You said you wanted to try to accept me, right? Then just accept my treatment also for you who are still in reasonable terms," said Kelvin.

Lidya lowered her hand which was blocking them.

Soon Kelvin hugged Lidya tightly, sangaaat tightly.

I hope you're right, Kelvin, my love.

Lidya spoke in heart.

Lidya lowered her hand again letting Kelvin hug her without her retaliating.

Mommy who saw the happiness of her son was happy. But at the sight of Lidya's hesitation to return Kelvin's embrace, Mommy Kelvin could only hold her breath. Because somehow Lidya must still feel strange with the situation that arrived just had a prospective husband. Mommy Kelvin understands that.

"Kelvin has hugged her, son" said Mommy Kelvin.

Because Mommy Kelvin knows, if it doesn't stop, they'll stay in that position for the next 5 hours.

"Mommy today, Kelvin is very very happy," said Kelvin who had released his embrace from Lidya. And hugged Mommy who was sitting, from behind.

Mommy looked at her son's face which revealed a happy smile. Makes Mommy Kelvin smile.

Lidya who saw the two Mothers and the child smiled happily at each other. Can only look at her without practicing her mother. Suddenly Lidya thought of going to the grave of her mother. Visiting her mother to her last resting place.

"Lidya said yes, Auntie" said Lidya.

"Where, son?" Ask Mommy Kelvin.

"There's a group assignment" Lidya replied.

With a glance in his eyes Mommy Kelvin tells Kelvin to take Lidya.

"Let me drop off" said Kelvin.

"No need, I can be alone" Lidya refused.

"Come on, I'm all buying Mommy lunch" Kelvin said, looking for an excuse.

"Clear," replied Lidya who passed away.

"I go first, Mom" said Kelvin, kissing both of Mommy's cheeks.

"Be careful on the road, baby" said Mommy Kelvin.

Kelvin picks up his car keys and immediately catches up with Lidya.

***

On travel.

"Where are we going?" Ask Kelvin.

"To a public burial place" replied Lidya.

"To funeral? But you said you wanted to do group work," said Kelvin who was inexhaustible with Lidya who seemed very fond of going to the cemetery.

"It's none of your business" said Lidya.

"Your business is my business. You want to try to accept me. Then learn to let me interfere in your problems" Kelvin said.

"Whatever," replied Lidya.

Not long after, the car that Kelvin drove arrived at the TPU parking lot.

Soon Lidya comes down. But his right hand was blocked by Kelvin.

"I'm coming, yeah" said Kelvin.

"No need" said Lidya.

"I want to be alone now. Please understand" said Lidya.

"Well, if you need something I'll be here" Kelvin said.

"You better just go. No need to wait for me" said Lidya.

"I want to be here, wait for you" said Kelvin, who did not want to be denied.

"Close," Lidya replied, releasing Kelvin's hand and walking towards the funeral he had always been to. His mother and her lover.

"Mother, Lidya misses Mom. Lidya wants to see Mom's smile. Lidya wants to hug Mom and in the same hug Mom. Mom, Lidya doesn't know if Kelvin was Mom's choice for Lidya or the man's choice. But whoever Lidya's choice is will try to accept it. Lidya wishes she was the same Kelvin as mine, Mom. Hopefully it is not just hope" Lidya said as he looked at his mother's grave.
