Part 4's. Life With The Scavenger

Later Christine regained consciousness after fainting for quite a while. But the scavenger boy kept watching him.

In a still limp state, he asked the boy sitting in front of him.

"Where am I? And who are you?"

But the scavenger answered him with sign language because he was mute. Then the scavenger went to buy food and drinks and gave them to him. He gestured for Christine to eat.

So without hesitation, Christine immediately took the food from her hand and ate it with great gusto. The scavenger boy was also still a dozen years old just like him.

After that she went to get a comb and tidied up Christine's long hair. She also ties her hair very well. And he did not reject all that kindness. He was surprised that someone treated him well. He cried and touched the boy's face gently. As for the boy, he wiped away his tears that kept coming out.

After that he went into his room and dismantled his piggy bank. Then she ran to the market to buy clothes for Christine. Because his clothes were worn out, dirty, and smelly.

He was so happy to have a new friend. And he did not mind at all having spent all his money buying clothes for her.

She also chose clothes that she felt were beautiful and suitable for Christine.

But while the boy was still in the market, Christine got out of her bed and looked around the whole house. The house was narrow and full of used goods. Part of the wall of the house was covered with used plywood as well as used zinc.

Christine also went into the boy's room and looked through the contents. He saw a small photograph of him, which was almost burned to the ground, glued to the wall of a small closet. It was a picture of a child standing with another child. His face was lost due to the fire. Only the face of the little boy was clearly visible.

But because he was afraid of being discovered, he came out immediately.

Soon, the boy came and pulled Christine's hand. He gave the clothes and gestured for Christine to change her clothes with the clothes she had just bought.

Christine immediately went into the room and changed her clothes. He also looked up at a small mirror and went back to the boy and said,

"Look! I'm getting pretty, aren't I in this dress?

If only this shirt had been from someone I liked, I would have flown into the clouds because I was so happy."

The boy continued to look at her while smiling happily.

One day the boy went scavenging and left Christine alone at home. She told Christine not to open the door for anyone to come. He was worried that the people there would do evil to him. So Christine did everything exactly as the boy said. But to drive away the boredom, he started tidying up the place and cleaning up the whole thing.

Shortly after, the boy came home and brought scavenged used items.

He was very surprised to see that his house was now neat and clean. So in sign language, she thanked him and gave him a gift. The gift was a worn-out roll of paper that she took out of her plastic sack and gave it to her.

And sure enough, as soon as he saw the contents of the paper scroll, he was so happy that he jumped up in excitement. It was his idol poster.

So pleased was he, to the point that he unconsciously shouted loudly.

The boy left her until she was exhausted from being happy. After that, Christine asked how the boy knew he idolized her.

So the boy told him that when he was sleeping, he called out the name of the man. The name sounded strange in his ears because the mention of the name was not like the mention of a name in his area. But he kept that name in his heart and mind and tried to figure it out.

When he scavenged, he tried to ask everyone he met at the location where he scavenged. But no one knows.

Until he finally found out the name when he went to buy clothes at the market. At that time there were several teenagers crowded in place selling DVD tapes. It was not far from where he bought clothes. Then he overheard one of them mention the name and showed his picture to his friends.

But she was sad that she couldn't buy the tape for Christine. He could only give out the worn poster lying on the street near the cassette seller.

Even so, Christine was deeply moved and delighted that in the midst of her miserable life, there were still people willing to take a sincere look at her.

He also put the old poster behind the entrance of the house. In order that every time he opened and closed the door, he could always pay attention to his beloved idol.

Then one day at dinner, Christine asked the boy one thing. Why is she so nice to him. Even though he's nobody. It even looked like he was just a burden.

The boy remembered his past. She cried and told Christine everything. That he used to have a complete parent and one younger sister. His life was also quite good.

Unfortunately, that good time passed very quickly. One day they had a terrible disaster. Their house and everything they had was burned. Even in the disaster, both her parents and sister died. Also because the fire was so severe, he lost his voice.

Only one thing remains. It was a picture of a little girl who was worn out and almost burned out.

Then he showed it to Christine.

That was why the boy loved him so much for thinking of him as his own sister.

After years of living alone, she now has a new friend who gives her encouragement.

Now Christine understood why the boy loved her so much and protected her so much. He wasn't even allowed to help the boy scavenge.

Although the burden of his life increased, but it was not a big problem for him. He continues to work hard and believes his life will be better. He saw Christine as the greatest gift to him from God.
