Because of a Dream

Part 2's. The Struggle in Empty Farms

It was getting dark too. And Christine, who was still in that empty field, returned to her delusional habit. He did not think about how his current condition was and what his future would be like.

That night she fantasizes about meeting her idol and marrying him. He smiled alone and laughed gigglingly.

Suddenly someone came across the field and heard his laughter. The man paused for a moment and said,

"What's that sound?

Like a female voice. But who's the girl who's still in the fields these nights? Laugh anyway."

For a moment he was still standing in his place to confirm the sound. But the girl's voice was sounding louder and more terrifying. The person becomes fearful and begins to think negatively,

"duh....

Don't-don't...." Word's shaking.

That person was no longer able to remain calm and decided to take a thousand steps. He screamed loudly while running. Her loud voice made Christine wake up and startled. Spontaneously he also shouted. So they screamed together.

Because of that incident, her beautiful wishful thinking was instantly cut off. But after the voice disappeared and things became quiet again, he continued his delusion. The more he fantasizes, the more he dissolves until he finally sleeps and dreams. In his dream, the idol comes to him and helps him out of his heavy burden. The idol clasped his hand tightly and took him to a quiet place and wrapped a ring on his ring finger. As if the world had turned upside down, the idol knelt down and proposed to him.

Christine's getting powerless with that sweet delusion. Her life is like a Cinderella married to a prince.

He was so happy he didn't want to wake up. He wants to continue to sleep in order to be happy even in a dream.

While the person who ran away was frightened, immediately reported the strange incident to the people he met.

"Hey, listen!

Hear that! Over there. There, in that empty field, I heard a ghost."

"What's? A ghost? Hahaha....

Don't be crazy, Din.

Udin... Udin...

You don't talk carelessly. I have lived here for decades. And never saw a ghost. I don't know her voice either." Said one of the citizens.

"Tau the Udin. Maybe you are a ghost. Or, your brain is in trouble. Or maybe you're drunk again? Haha...." The other replies mock.

"I'm not lying. I seriously. I heard his voice clearly. He laughed so hard. Female voice." Udin replied very seriously.

"Female? Maybe he has a crush on you. Haha.... That's why you're the only one who hears his voice." The other replies mock.

People there do not believe the story because for years there has never been a mystical event there or a terrible terror.

But in order to prove himself right, the man continued to tell him excitedly and invite some people to go with him to explore the empty fields.

Finally, because of his constant insistence, they went in droves while carrying torches.

Once they got there, they immediately dispersed, each with his group tracing the empty fields of 2 hectares. But even though they went in different directions, they found nothing. Nothing suspicious, nothing scary.

One by one they began to blame the man for giving unsettling false reports.

Apparently Christine slept among the pile of grass she had arranged as her bed, then she covered it with dry bushes on it so that it was invisible to them. The villagers were upset to return empty-handed.

Then to the next morning, some of the farmers working near the empty field suddenly heard a scream. For a moment they were confused, scared and thought, 'Could it be that what the man said last night was true? Is this place haunted?' So some of them ventured into it and found out the source of the sound. But their efforts were in vain.

As soon as they reached the village, the farmers immediately told them about their experiences. They begin to blame each other for not believing. But later believed and concluded the place was haunted.

While Christine, after falling asleep for quite a long time and content to dream, she finally woke up because her stomach was hungry. So he decided to go to the village and hope to get food.

But when he was still far away, he saw three dead men's wives in the ravine looking for him. They could conclude the killer was him, because the day he was found dead, and the day he left his village, together. So he abandoned his intentions and went back into hiding. He was very afraid that he would be their moons. But when he tried to run, accidentally to the three women saw him and spontaneously shouted,

"Hey brat!"

Then they ran after him and scattered in various directions.

The three women were so angry and furious. Because since their husband died, they do not get any more money from her husband. The five wives of the man were now living a miserable life. Since his death, his entire family has been fighting fiercely over the man's treasure. They even drove five of the man's wives into the streets and confiscated all the things the man had given him while he was alive. They are now living on the streets in miserable circumstances. They were unable to resist because the man's relatives were notorious and thuggish. The five women also had no children. Because he forbade his wife to have children. The man wanted his five wives to serve him.

So after a long search, they finally managed to catch him. Then they took him forcibly to the village hall for trial.

They tied him to a pole and began to intimidate him. They began to question him on various matters that he could not yet understand.

But their attempts to intimidate him did not pay off. So they punished him by allowing him to starve overnight and with bound conditions.

But one of the hansip who was on duty at that time felt sorry to see it. She's the same age as her daughter. He imagined, 'What if my daughter experienced it?' That was why he had secretly fed her when everyone was already asleep. Hansip said,

"Son, don't be afraid! You're hungry, aren't you?

This is my father bringing food. Eat so you have energy for tomorrow morning."

Then without even retaliating a bit, Christine immediately snatched the food from her hands and ate it greedily.

Hansip continued his words again. He said,

"Can't you ask me one thing?

Why are you being chased like this?

Where are your mom and dad?

You can tell me the same father. But slow down so that no one will know that you came here and fed you.

Ye know? A person who feeds a criminal is punishable. But I'm sure you're innocent.

So believe. You will help."

Seeing the sincerity on her face, Christine was no longer reluctant to tell the whole event she experienced. That he was about to be molested while working in the fields. He fought to defend himself. But just as the drunk man was about to chase after him, his feet slipped by the small pebbles that finally made him fall into the abyss and die.

His eyes glazed over when he told a story. Make the heart of the host's father more broken. He imagined what if his daughter were to experience it and no one was defending.

Then he calmed Christine and gave her spirit. He said,

"Now you sleep and strengthen yourself.

And pray that you get a way out so that you can get away from this small village that has no future. I will think of a way to save you. And if tomorrow morning they're still asking you what's trying to scare you, don't answer. They won't punish you as long as you don't give any answers.

Now you have to go and get back on duty. If tomorrow you see your father in the crowd, do not call or look at him.
