Apocalypse After
Monster Trap

“Why did you stop me, Al?”

Aurora asked dissatisfiedly. At the moment of wanting to get angry, he saw a cold expression on the young man's face. At that moment, the woman immediately thought that something was wrong.

“Is something wrong?” ask Aurora.

“Do you think it's normal?” Alexander did not answer, but asked back.

“You mean ..”

Aurora looked doubtful. At that moment, he recalled Rowan's expression filled with happiness. However, the woman also recalled what Rowan's subordinates had said. So, he was becoming more and more doubtful.

“Could they be acting?” aurora asked with a surprised tone that could not be hidden.

Alexander looked at Aurora for a moment. After a few seconds, he shook his head while sighing deeply.

“No idea.”

“What do you mean?” aurora asked confusedly.

“As I said, I don't know at all.” Alexander shook his head. “Although so, we must be careful. Even if they are not acting, there must be something wrong with this situation.”

Looking at the cautious Alexander, the near coward made Aurora nod. Although it did not look strong and even somewhat embarrassing for acting so shy, but he knew only people who had ‘otak’ could last longer in this world.

“Should we wait for them to come out?” aurora asked doubtfully.

“No. We're going to stay in, but we also have to be careful. Although not 100%, I feel that Rowan is not cheating.”

Hearing Alexander's remark, Aurora nodded with a serious expression. After that, they entered the cave together.

Just a few meters into the cave, the two listened to a faint voice. But instead of the sound of crying, they listened to the sound of fighting. So Aurora and Alexander's expressions instantly changed completely.

Aurora wanted to rush over to check, but Alexander stopped her while shaking his head.

In accordance with the initial plan, they moved forward slowly but surely. Avoiding various traps that might be set while watching the environment with serious expressions on their faces.

The cave itself is rather large and sloping down. The deeper, Alexander felt that the cave was becoming wider.

At that very instant, Alexander saw a brighter place in the distance. The young man looked down, towards his shoes while frowning.

‘This ..’

Alexander and Aurora looked at each other. The two of them nodded and rushed towards the light source. Arriving there, the two were stunned at their place.

In front of them, there appeared a large basin. It is shaped like a medium-sized lake. The place is quite spacious, and the ceiling is full of many holes measuring less than one meter. It seems that's where the light source came from.

Merely, what was in front of Alexander was not only a large hollow that was empty, but had contents.

Water and form a lake? Not particularly.

What appeared before Alexander's eyes was a crowd of vines full of thorns. It is almost black green. No leaves, but full of thorns.

Seeing that made Alexander know the reason why the surrounding soil was quite loose seems to be due to the existence of the plant. The problem is, there are not only vines that form like giant pools. However, there was another creature that was there.

Under the vines that gathered to a height of about one meter, there was loose soil. More precisely, until it is quite muddy due to its moisture.

From there, strange creatures appear. It looks like a long worm, but has many teeth on the head similar to leeches. His body was dark brown and coated with mucus. It's really uncomfortable to look at.

The number of creatures is very large. Each of them has the smallest size as thick as an adult's thigh. However, many are also larger in size than the body of an adult man.

‘This ... what place is this?’

Alexander seemed full of doubt because he did not know such a creature at all.

Looking at the many piles of bones stuck in the vines, Alexander's head was somewhat numb. At that moment, he saw a tree on the other side of the cave. It's black, with no leaves. Looks like a dead tree.

The problem was, it was not the tree that attracted Alexander, but the figure that was stuck in the branch of the tree.

Woman ... more precisely a young woman, and should be beautiful. The reason why it should be, was of course because that woman was no longer alive.

His body was torn to shreds, his armor was in a mess, his stomach seemed to be torn off and his internal organs seemed to be removed. Looking at the terrified expression on the woman's broken face, Alexander had a guess.

‘To be alive?’

Right then, Alexander focused on one creature perched on a branch of a dead tree. From its appearance, it was similar to a crow. A crow about the size of more than a meter tall with jet black fur.

More precisely, only one red eye was right in the middle of his head.

“DON'T DIE, JEFF! DON'T DIE!”

“NO! I'M SORRY! PLEASE ... PLEASE!”

The creature opened its beak, then a female voice that really sounded like sara Mari came out of the creature. Just then, the crow tilted its head, looking at Alexander with one red eye.

Feeling to have been deceived and ridiculed by the creature, let alone plus how he used the voice of the woman as ‘ejekan’, the corner of Alexander's lips twitched violently.

Just then, the young man stared at the one-eyed crow with a cruel grin on his face.

“Yo! It seems you can really play ... K-parat bird!”

While Alexander looked furious, Aurora herself looked horrified. He did not think at all that there are monsters that can ‘talk’ like humans. The woman was also very surprised by the reaction of the young man beside her. Aurora rarely, or even never saw Alexander so angry.

Alexander himself did not care about the fate of others who ended up in the stomach of monsters. However, he felt displeased when those monsters trampled and insulted the human race. Although considered the weakest ‘ras’, but the young man still has the pride instilled by the family.

A long time ago, humans were at the top.

In many stories, Alexander has heard and read that what happens to mankind is due to their arrogance. Hunting other creatures at will, damaging the environment, and doing various other evil things. In the end, humans get the ‘punishment’ they deserve.

Even so, Alexander did not really care. Whether in this era or the previous era, he was convinced there were not only evil, crazy, greedy, and personal gainers. But there are good people too.

Even in this chaotic and rotten era, Alexander still met some such people.

Would the entire human race deserve to be annihilated because of the vast majority of such people? Obviously not. Only such criminals deserve to be sacrificed, burned or drowned. However, eventually all of humanity accepted its impact.

So, instead of talking heroic reasons ‘to save mankind’ or evil reasons ‘for yourself’ ... Alexander had his own reasons.

‘Because I was born a human.’

That is what Alexander thought. Just like a monkey born as a monkey and unable to change his destiny, he felt himself to be born a human and would stand on the side of a human.

Yes ... simple as that.

After becoming a little calmer, Alexander stared at the soldiers who were fighting with disgusting looking worm monsters. It seemed that they were in too much of a hurry to fall into a trap.

The ground around is quite loose and slippery. If in a hurry and less careful, falling to ‘lake’ it will indeed be the answer.

‘Plants useful for creating terrain suitable for traps, monsters work to hunt trapped creatures, and attention-grabbing monsters to trap other creatures.’

Thinking of that, Alexander's expression became increasingly serious.

The plant clearly uses carcass residue or feces as nutrients to thrive. The worms use vines as nesting sites. The bird caught his attention, then took his rations. Although the relationship with the worms is not so important, but the bird also has a mutually beneficial relationship with the vines.

“Yang made a strategy, which provides a place, and the workers who do their job ... really interesting.”

Alexander muttered softly in a voice that only he could hear. The young man felt that the bird on the other side was not that strong. His strength was probably worse than the black spider he and Aurora had ever fought. Even so, there was something that the young man could confirm.

That creature ...

Definitely not an ordinary mutated monster! He is a special kind that is very hard to find!

Even if not as powerful as the other creatures, but Alexander was sure that the black crow was not as simple as it seemed.

“Please us!”

Hearing that, Alexander and Aurora looked towards the source of the sound. There, there appeared some people who were being attacked by mutated worms.

Out of the thirteen people, five of them had died. Leaving eight people fighting desperately.

Of the eight, Alexander focused on Rowan. Unlike the seven others who were busy fighting with worms while trying to retreat, the middle-aged man used the miracle root while continuously advancing forward.

Both of Rowan's hands which became thicker and fur-coated as well as having sharp hooves continued to tear apart the vines and worm monsters that appeared in front of him.

Looking at the red eyes and hateful expression on Rowan's face, Alexander stared at Aurora and said.

“You will help me from behind later.”
