Apocalypse After
Hiding In The Shadow

“It's not a great way to praise someone, Damian.”

Alexander who was sitting on the sofa said as he shook his head.

Damian himself sat down on the sofa. He stared at his friend with an amazed expression as well as fear. The man also replied.

“You really scared me. I was thinking that we'd end up here,” Damian said.

“We have not yet issued a letter and started a second plan, but they already believe. Somewhat in vain, but I'm also glad everything went well. Really ...” Alexader massaged his neck. “I almost lost control and want to beat up that old jackfruit.”

“...”

Damian. He stared at Alexander who called one of the honorable knights ‘tua bangka’. It was a bit outrageous, but the man liked it enough.

It was because Damian was annoyed with the Chivelm Family that often suppressed the Ervens Family!

“Omong-by the way, holding back it turns out to be very troublesome.” Alexander shrugged his shoulders and let out a long breath. “Weaken the body, withstand the speed of regeneras, and many things must be considered. Especially keep expression and emotion.”

“You are indeed a very outstanding actor, Faust. What you did really surprised me,” Damian said.

“I'm just an outcast from Ambersea. Fortunately I was blessed with a decent brain,” said Alexander in a relaxed tone. But Damian's expression became serious.

Ambersea was one of the great powers that was south of the Blood Cross region. Both are neighbors, but the relationship is not good. Not to mention, they often rub against each other fighting over materials in volcanoes and border forests.

“You're from Ambersea?” ask Damian.

“Ah!” Alexander looked surprised. “Looks like I'm slipping. Actually I'm just an unwanted child of one of the big families of the high-level shelter in Ambersea. It's just, I'm just a disgrace for being born from a servant.”

“...” Damian was silent in his place.

Just then, Alexander's expression became softer. “Maybe a dozen years old. I had forgotten the face of my parents, but I remembered how my mother sacrificed all her wealth, even her life to send me away from there. Go to Blood Cross to live a new life.”

Hearing Alexander's words, Damian felt somewhat sour. He imagined a small figure being banished to a distant place, trying to survive desperately in a foreign place, and could eventually develop to the position it is today.

Yeah .. at least that's what Damian imagined when listening to Faust's story.

(It's just an illusion because Alexander's past has absolutely nothing to do with that story.)

‘It is fitting that he acted so ruthlessly, coldly, and so recklessly at such a young age. Clearly, seeing the cruel world since childhood makes it what it is now.’

Thinking that, Damian shook his head. He looked at his friend and said softly.

“Isn't it all over, buddy? Now that you've gotten better, even have a beautiful wife and waitress,” comfort Damian.

“You're right, Damian.” Alexander nodded with a stern expression. “Now I am Faust Vermillion. From now on I will live better, hide better, and live a normal life.”

Damian nodded lightly. Looking at Faust who was cheerful back and looked somewhat careless as usual, he couldn't help but ask.

“What will you do from now on? Of course, I mean other than opening a store and making potions as usual.”

Alexander stroked his chin when he heard the question. After a while, he said in a firm voice.

“Gathering information.”

Alexander's expression became increasingly serious.

“Gathering as much information as I can.”

Date 1, month 4, year 401 of the Black Moon calendar.

Without feeling the time just pass. Spring has changed to summer. It had been almost three months that Alexander and his entourage had come to Shelter 1. In this time, not much has happened. Everything went smoothly, even too smoothly so Alexander was very suspicious.

Sure enough, in his search, Alexander found a lot of very interesting information.

The old leader of the Blood Cross, the one who could be considered the little king turned out to be dead. But most people don't know it. Several prospective heirs moved in their own ways to fight for the throne.

The problem is not just that. Alexander even felt that this matter was more important than the political issue of Blood Cross.

Alexander saw that the development of monsters was increasing. The chaos at the beginning of the year seems to be just an opening. This year seems to be a tougher year than previous years.

Not only this year .. but Alexander felt that the longer the world became an increasingly unsafe place. This year is just the beginning!

Moreover, in this time there were some developments within his group.

Due to the wealth Aurora brought, the woman was just waiting for time to break through the shackles to level 3. However, now he had consumed 7 potions. It will roughly break through level 3 in four to five months.

Alexander's business was doing so well that it was arguably not short of money. Although not comparable to a large family, but his wealth could still be used to nurture some people. Raise their level as hunters.

Daisy and Aster had drunk 7 potions. They would break through level 2 roughly a little faster than Aurora who would break through level 3.

Meanwhile, Jane and Nene had drunk 3 potions. You can drink at least 1 potion every two to three weeks. It seems that much time is enough to digest and build the base.

Of course, Alexander himself still collected 1 potion per month because he used to be so poor and without a background.

You could say, it's one of the benefits of following someone. The road is not too steep and there is a helping hand when needed.

Of course, Alexander was willing to give them all a lot of potions to invest in not just out of pity for them, not out of compassion either. Rather, it was because he considered the four women to be trustworthy after giving their souls and bodies to him.

If they tried to rebel, they would die of poisoning. Although making his investment in vain, but Alexander felt that it was better than letting thieves take away his wealth.

(It is better than letting those who betray him escape freely.)

The development itself is very good. Only, there's still one problem.

Alexander was actually getting better at controlling his power, and his control over the third miracle root was improving. Yet the man's level was still stagnant and he had yet to find the ingredients to make the potion he wanted!

In the back room of the Vermillion Shop, Alexander tapped on the table with his finger, his expression looking rather grim.

“The plan of hiding in the shadows while cultivating personal strength seems futile. My own strength does not increase,” murmured Alexander.

Alexander let out a long sigh, then looked towards the middle-aged man sitting across the table.

“I hope you bring pleasant surprises, Gery.”

Hearing Alexander's words, Gery who was sitting across the table immediately replied.

“Take it easy Boss! I ... Grey Jackal won't let you down.”

With a distinctive grin on his face, Gery placed some documents on Alexander's front desk.
