The day passed quickly with the sky beginning to be dyed with orange light. As expected, they returned empty-handed. There's no Astera villager left, except me and Steve. That fact, enough to make everyone's face turn dark.
I could only sigh heavily, without a word being said. Likewise with others, the atmosphere at home is getting gloomy with the sunset. Darkness enveloped everyone's heart along with the darkness of the night.
Dinner was much quieter than usual, especially Percival who was always cheerful was also just silent. We ate warm potato soup and hard bread, as well as a little extra vegetables, without any meat. Remembering what we went through this afternoon.
"Do you want to stay any longer?" Steve opened the conversation in as gentle a tone as possible.
The members of the Crimson Vortex exchanged glances with each other for a while before they saw one young man. "We're leaving tomorrow morning, for anyone, our mission in this village is over." Arthur said slowly, "If we're honest, we actually want to stay a little longer."
"No, maybe it's better if you're worried about yourself. I mean, your reputation among adventurers may be drastically reduced by this incident." I said without much expression, without even looking at their faces. But the smile kept coming into my field of view.
"You don't have to worry about it at all. More than that, what will you do next?" arthia.
"How about you guys come with us to town? Even if it's not as quiet as in the village, at least you're not living alone." Samantha gave advice after some consideration.
Yeah, maybe it's time I got out of this cage. I'm also interested in visiting the capital to visit some criminals. Maybe I can find unique and rare talent there. Diana must have been a lot of good food and a wide variety of precious items. That's worth considering... My mind floated at that instant.
"I'll stay for a while. There's still some things I need to do here." My answer is as honest as possible.
"really? Well, if it were you, then we wouldn't be too worried. After all you are a Night Watcher, nothing can beat you." Percival spoke in a slightly cheerful tone.
"Thank you, but I'm not that good."
"Hm, you're too humble Antares, I don't hate him, anyway." Thalia said softly.
"Well, since he still wants to stay, then I'll stay too" Steve said.
"Then we'll leave Antares in your care, elder" Arthur said
"Alright, it's decided then. Finish your dinner, then rest. We have a lot of activities tomorrow." Saga reached out her hand to grab the large pot in the middle of the dining table. Then take a few spoons of soup for himself.
"That's what you mean finishing the food? Aren't you relaxed enough?" Percival took a long breath.
It wasn't the best dinner, but at least I wasn't alone with Steve. I tend to be quiet for everything, while Steve has too wild an imagination. Maybe because of age, but parents do tend to have extreme thought processes that can only be understood by themselves.
After that, we had to sleep two different rooms. The women use my room, while the men use the living room. Because the room is insufficient, you have to be a little jostling. My credit was not high enough, and was squeezed between the monsters, so several incidents happened.
I don't think I'm going to sleep well tonight. Ugh, I can't sleep with the sound around me. I need blindfolds and headsets!!
Yeah, I ended up buying from the system shop.
However, there was one reason why I wanted to obtain that undead ability. Basically I already got it with [Astral Form], anyway. That is, just to keep watch if I sleep too long. You know, it felt like you woke up at 4am, then when you blinked for a moment, suddenly the short-needle clock has reached the number 5. I like to sleep and dream. I won't tell you my dreams, though.
For tonight, I had a nightmare. And such a dream, should not be told.
When I woke up, Saga had finished her morning shower, and was preparing breakfast. Warm soup, soft bread, grilled meat, plus some fried vegetables. Hm, just add the rice, and everything is perfect.
"Met's morning." I said with my eyes still dimmed and a raucous voice.
"For A, slept well last night? Honestly, I was a little surprised when I saw you wearing that blindfold, hahaha." Saga laughed a little.
"really?" I answered as if.
"Heh. there wash your face first."
I just nodded in response, and immediately went to the bathroom. For some reason, I felt like I was in someone else's house, a little uncomfortable. I went straight into the bathroom which was nothing more than a sealed open space. There is a clay barrel on one side of the room as a reservoir for water, and an indoor toilet for the other. I also put Bathub in enchant with magic, to soak in the mood.. There's almost nothing there.
Hm, I don't know, I feel like I'm seeing someone in one corner of the room, maybe it's just my imagination. I only washed my face a few times before I just walked out.
Breakfast was a little different. Not the dish, the food served is somewhat different, but what is more strange is the atmosphere at the dining table. Percival will talk about a lot of things, which Arthur and Samantha Arthia tease, Saga and Steve will chim in once in a while. While Sigur and Noril were almost silent the whole time was the same as me.
Thalia... He looked at me with a strange look. Pink face, dilated pupils and mixed emotions. Did something happen to him last night? I did not feel the arrival of any kind of monster because of the protectors Arthia and Thalia put up. No yelling, screams, moans of any kind. Ah, I was wearing a headset last night. Maybe it's more of a women's problem, SMS for example? Yeah, maybe it's like that, because the longer I look at it, Thalia's face burns.
I don't know... Byeah, why do you think of such things.
After breakfast, we talked about a few things about myself, such as how long I would stay, when I would go to the nearest town. Any equipment that needs to be prepared. Basic spells were useful for everyday and an entry-level spell book. And so... Ugrh all this interaction is like draining all my morning energy.
Then Steve and I sent them away as the sun began to rise.
Finally, a little calm.
"I'm going to the hills, you want to come?"
"All right."
A little quiet, but still busy. Hm, the feeling of losing the entire village, slowly began to disappear from my heart. I started to turn into a monster.
