Marni was busy in the kitchen, cooking kale crops from the fields. The smell of kale stir fry is smelled into the house, making Bimo child just the wayangnya awake.

“What mom cooks?” Bimo staggered into the kitchen while rubbing his eyes.

“Tumis kale le”

“How to cook vegetables anyway. I want to eat fish. When do you cook fish?” the five-year-old boy pouted.

“Tomorrow yes le, if mom to the market mom buy fish” said Marni with a smile.

“But I want to eat fish now” Bimo starts whining.

“Today the fish does not exist. So Bimo is now a vegetable maem huh. Later the mother made an egg cow's eye that is round yellow in the middle. Bimo want?”

“Mau. But promise tomorrow mom cook fish ya”

“Iya” said Marni with a smile and Bimo also smiled.

“Later to go fishing. Pray for the father to get a lot of fish ya” Karmin who had heard the conversation his wife and child immediately replied.

“Iya pak” replied Bimo.

"Where are you fishing mas?” ask Marni.

“On telaga”

“Why ndak in aja mas river. The lake guys said it was wingit”

“Whose word, wong I used to fishing in situ”

Marni just fell silent unable to convince her husband. The feeling is not good.

That afternoon after dzuhur Karmin departed for the lake with a fishing rod and a small bucket for fishing containers. The winding road passes through the rice fields and some fields of residents. Located far away from the village. Lonely on the edge of the village near the forest.

Upon arrival at the lake, Karmin immediately looked for a comfortable place to fish. He started putting up bait and throwing hooks. Not to forget a skirt*k he turned on to remove boredom. Calm and peaceful interspersed with the bad luck of the breeze, patiently Karmin waiting for bait struck by fish. He is willing to spend hours to please children lanang.

Apparently luck was on Karmin's side. The fish today are so tame. It's easy to catch. In less than three hours, the bucket was almost full. Piled fish crammed while occasionally floundering, stinging to linger on land.

Karmin smiled happily, looking at the fish in the bucket. One or two fish fluttered, his mouth moving as if he wanted to say something.

"Mas”

Suddenly a female voice sounded. Karmin's surprised not a bitch. He thought the fish was talking. The feathers immediately bristled even though at that time the sun was still brightly shining

"Mas”

The voice sounded again. Karmin spread his gaze around the lake. A woman stood right behind him. A sigh of relief was blown, it turned out that the one speaking was a human.

"Only alone mas?” ask the woman.

Karmin nodded.

“Find a lot of fish. What to sell?” ask the woman again.

“No. To eat by myself, my son wants to eat fish. Samean want?” Karmin. She thought she wanted fish too.

The woman shook her head and said.

“Mas can stop by my shop, maybe the mas want to copy”

“Iya later I stop by” replied Karmin.

The woman then walked towards a small hut made of woven bamboo. The place was used as a simple coffee shop typical of rural areas.

Karmin was astonished, he had never seen the stall before. Even when he arrived earlier Karmin also did not see any stalls. Suddenly now he saw a stall standing on the edge of the lake with a beautiful woman as his salesman. The woman he had never seen in the village. With pure white skin not like this guy.

A few hours passed, when the bucket began to fill up, Karmin stopped his fishing activities. All the equipment was then walked to stop by the coffee shop as he had promised to the owner.

“Black coffee one bu” said Karmin once arrived at the stall.

“Do not call mom, just call mbak. I am still young, it is not good to be called mother” replied the woman.

Karmin nodded and smiled.

“Mbaknya is not a real person here huh, why have I never seen? This stall also seems to be still just” asked Karmin.

coffee mas”

Karmin received the coffee. Sipping her slowly. Karmin was surprised, never felt coffee like this before. Black coffee with a slight jasmine aroma. Bittersweet pas.

“Mbak stay in this stall?”

The woman nodded.

“Whose name?”

“Self mas”

“A young woman lives by the lake alone, away from the village. Are you not afraid?”

“No, what are you afraid of? Wong nothing” replied the woman with a smile.

The casual chat continued, punctuated with joking jokes. Without the taste of a glass of coffee has run out, leaving a pile of dregs at the bottom of the glass. After paying for his coffee, Karmin paid his respects.

At home, Karmin greeted his son with joy. A bucket full of fish he gave to Marni to be immediately processed into cooking.

“Mas Karmin want to coffee?” ask Marnie to her husband.

“No, I had coffee at the stall near telaga”

“Since when near the lake there is a coffee shop?”

“New shop” Karmin then tells about the coffee shop near the lake, without saying if the seller is a beautiful young woman. He doesn't want his wife to be jealous.

Dinner was lively, fish gulai served at the table. Karmin and family eat voraciously. Do not forget some of the fish they share with neighbors, so many fish so they can not spend themselves.

After dinner and a glut. They were sound asleep in the depths of a silent night, not knowing that disaster would befall them tomorrow.

Early in the morning, Bimo's body suddenly had a high fever to convulsions. Panicked to see the condition of his son, Karmin and Marni immediately bring Bimo to the puskesmas. But baby, Bimo can't hold on. He died on the way.

Marni is shaken by the departure of the child. Untold sadness. Not eating, not drinking. His body was getting limp and pale. Unable to bear the burden of grief. Marni followed after five days of Bimo's departure.

Now Karmin is alone. Make friends every day. No chattering, whining from Bimo. Or even a fussy tirade from Marni. The world of Karmin is in mourning.

Karmin wants to let go of the grief. Seven days after Marni died, Karmin went to the lake. Back to fishing, maybe this way the burden of his suffering is slightly reduced. Two hours he waited not once the bait was touched by a fish. Not flinching a single moment. I don't know how many cigarettes he's been smoking. Sadness is not the least bit reduced, just boredom adds to the burden of his mind.

He looked around the lake. A small coffee shop stood there. Remember the beautiful young woman who inhabited the place alone. Karmin immediately moved, leaving his fishing gear alone.

“Black coffee one mbak”

“The reason why it looks lethargic today?” ask the beautiful woman who owns the shop.

Karmin only smiled faintly without answering. He doesn't want to tell a story.

“This is the coffee machine” the woman offers a glass of coffee.

Black coffee with a little jasmine aroma. Karmin immediately sipped it.

“Coffee is this nice, with a seller as beautiful and friendly as this. Why doesn't anyone stop by except her?” ask Karmin in your heart.

The astonishment enveloped the heart. Never once have there been any other visitors in this shop. Even in the village no one ever told me about the existence of a stall on the edge of the lake.

“Mas I want to ask for help. Please break the coconut fruit in the back, I want to cook the vegetable lodeh” say women shop owners break the thought of Karmin.

Karmin immediately headed to the back of the stall. Take a coconut and break it down with the available tools. When busy separating the coconut from the shell, suddenly felt someone hugging from behind. It turns out she was the woman who owned the shop. Whispering in the ears.

“Mas Karmin is grieving ya”

Karmin's heart rippled, the sadness of losing his wife and child vanished instantly. Karmin put the coconut fruit that is being broken. Reversing to return the beautiful woman's embrace. But how surprised Karmin was to see the face of the woman in front of him. That woman is no longer beautiful. His face was grayish-black, scales lining his entire body. The body is half human, the other half tailed like a fish. A fishy smell was pouring out of his body.

“Who are you?” ask Karmin shaking.

The woman just grinned about showing off her pointy teeth.

Karmin wave, he immediately rose up to run as fast as he could away from the creepy woman. But he had not yet stepped up, an invisible force rained down on his heart. Make Karmin fall instantly. The breath had stopped, there was no movement that Karmin could make. The woman smiled.

“That's a reply for having eaten my children”
