Chapter 8's

Zi knocked on room number 106 several times. He could hear the sounds of breathing, heartbeats, and also movements from inside the room. From her voice, it seemed that Rose was getting out of bed.

“Who?” ask the woman from inside without opening the door.

“It's me, Zi.”

A few seconds later the door of the room opened. Rose looked at Zi with a suspicious expression. “What are you doing here?”

“Well, no need to look at me suspiciously like that. I'm just here to take you to talk.”

“Come in,” says Rose. After all, the man had already saved her twice. He can't just refuse it.

“What do you want to talk about?”

“Whoa, easy there, have you always been like that to everyone?"

“What do you mean?”

“Gallack.”

“I still haven't forgotten that you made me look around for three months, before suddenly appearing before me.”

“I'm sorry about that, we passed that, right?”

“Fine, what do you want to talk about?”

“I want to know why your reaction is ordinary after seeing the things we do? Of course you're scared, but there's no other reaction than that. Usually, people who know about this will become hysterical, stressed, or look at us with a gaze like we will kill them.”

Rose looked at Zi with a face of disbelief, “You came here just to ask that?”

“I'm curious, and rather than me having to go around looking for answers, I can ask you directly.”

“What makes you think I'll tell you?”

“Nothing, no harm in trying right?”

Rose took a breath. He felt that if he did not answer Zi's question, the man would look for an answer in another way. A way that could have made all of Rose's secrets come to light. It was better if he told Zi what he could tell. That way, the secret will remain safe.

“I've seen terrible things before.”

Rose waited a few seconds to see the man's reaction. Would he ask what he saw? How should he explain without making Zi suspicious?

“Oh, so so.”

It was unexpected that Zi's reaction was ordinary, so Rose could not believe it. How not, this man was curious enough to come to her, but he took that short answer for granted?

“You have no other questions?”

“No, I know everyone has their secrets. That's your privacy. Thank you for telling me,” he said as he left.

“Okay,” Rose replied still full of confusion. He really could not understand this man.

...****************...

One afternoon, Rose and Gina were sitting under a large tree in the safe house yard. It had been two months since the two of them became friends. Rose now knows more about Elves than Gina. The most surprising thing is, it turns out Gina is a witch. Rose once saw Gina bewitching the roots to get out of the ground. Of course, even though she asked a lot, Rose had no intention of becoming a witch. He has no talent for it.

“You know Rose, since meeting you I want to tell you something.”

“What is it?”

Gina turned her head towards Rose, her finger pointing to Rose's chest, “You have something powerful inside.”

“Huh? What do you mean?” rose asked with a little fear. Does Gina know the secret?

“You have power far beyond what you know. If you want to know, I'll explain it to you tomorrow. I have to go now, there's business I want to finish.”

“Wait, where are you going?”

“Don't worry, I'll be back tomorrow,” said Gina.

Rose looked at Gina's departure anxiously. What does the girl want to explain to him? Could it be that Gina knew what was really inside her?

Next day.

Rose waited where she and Gina used to meet, but the Elf did not appear after two hours. With no other choice, Rose approached Gina's room in room 87. But after knocking on the door many times Gina did not answer. One of the other residents exited the room distracted by Rose's knock.

“Elf it has not returned from yesterday,” he said.

“Do you know where he went?”

“Where did the boy go?” mumbling Rose.

The feeling of anxiety overcame Rose. The woman knew that Gina would never forget her promise. Unless something happens to him.

“I have to look for it.”

Rose walked towards the first floor. His head was filled with thoughts on how to look for Gina. She felt she could not ask Leona for help because Gina had only been missing for a few hours. Well, then, he only had one choice.

“Leona?” call Rose.

“What's up?”

“Can you tell me where I can meet Zi or Elga?"

“What are you looking for them for?”

“I have business with them.”

Leona looked at Rose so sharply that Rose thought she would not tell him.

“You can find them about five hundred meters west from here. Their home is triangular.”

“Thank you,” Rose said before rushing off.

Ten minutes later, Rose stops in front of a house that matches Leona's description. After taking a few breaths to calm herself down, Rose knocked on the door of the house. The door opened and revealed a twenty-five-year-old woman with brunette hair and a serious face.

“Zi, there are people looking for you,” said the woman before Rose could explain anything.

“Please enter,” he said again.

Shortly after, Rose saw Zi come with a cup of coffee in hand.

“Hai, sorry, I was drinking coffee. What do you need to do here?”

Rose chose to swallow the question of how the woman could have known she was looking for Zi and focused on her goal. “I need your help.”

“Surely this is something big that makes you come to me right?”

“My friend Gina disappeared, she's Elf.”

“You came here just for that? Who knows maybe your friend is having business and not finished, or maybe he is having fun somewhere.”

“No, Gina promised me that she would meet me this morning. She's not a girl who reneges on promises for no reason. I can't ask the safe house manager for help because he just went missing last night. Can you help me?”

“Hmm..”

“You better help her Zi,” said the woman earlier.

“Why Harvey? What do you see?”

“I see that Elf girl is in danger. Looks like he was held captive in a warehouse of unused goods near Bunga Hill.”

“How can you know?” rose asked confusedly.

“That's not important, we have to help your friend first right? Do you know who might have done that to her?”

“No, Gina never made anyone else angry. He's a quiet kid.”

“Harvey?”

“I didn't see anyone there. The boy was unharmed, just unconscious.”

“Shane,” call Zi.

“Ya brother?” a man from inside the room.

“You're coming with me.”

“Why me? I'm playing a game,” grumbled Shane.

“Because you lost a game with me earlier. Come fast.”

A man who was about twenty years old came out of the room. His brown hair looked as disheveled as if he had just woken up. With a lazy expression, he inserted some knives, grenades, ropes, flashlights, and others. Rose just observed all of that in silence. Both of the woman's hands clenched, trying to dispel her anxiety. In her heart she was determined, no matter what happened, she would save Gina.
