The Unusual Husband
Part 12's
Gerry Bush's Birthday Party at Parker Hotel Jakarta.
Rolls Royce car splits the streets of the capital tonight. In less than half an hour, Anne and Robert arrived at Gerry Bush's birthday party.
Robert very gently opened the door and let Anne down. Then, Robert took Anne to the party ballroom. Anne seemed surprised by Robert's cool demeanor, but Anne tried to hide it by smiling fondly at Robert.
At the party, several guests were present. Mr. Ridhan, Mrs Sandra and Spencer are also in attendance. The three of them looked at Spencer and Anne in disbelief as their clothes were extravagant and cool.
Spencer walked up to Robert and said, “Halo, my sister-in-law. Cool is your shirt tonight. Hopefully you can blend in well and not make us ashamed well. Anne, please take care of your husband so as not to walk around this room, and do not eat until the straw yah.”
Robert was used to silence and did not want to serve the babble of his wife's family. He did not want to look for a fuss with these useless people. They are like netizens on social media who like to comment on others negatively.
Mr. Ridhan rarely spoke at length with Robert. After all, this daughter-in-law is nobody ‘kan? Not a business tycoon, so why would he stick around on his son-in-law? Even he was afraid that Robert would climb socially when he was close to him. The absurd fear that Robert alone rarely chatted with the Halingers, except with Grandpa Thomas.
Ms. Sandra sneers and belittles her daughter-in-law more often than not, and she doesn't even want to talk about Anne and Robert when she's with her social friends. It's kind of weird and sad actually, a mother shouldn't give support to her daughter, right? Daughter if there's anything will go home to find her mother. However, not so with Lady Sandra, she seemed to have sold Anne to Robert.
“Spencer, let's go and say hello to the Gerry Bush family,” said Mrs Sandra while pulling Spencer's hand.
As usual, Anne was silent and held the sadness in her heart. He was already used to being considered non-existent by his core family. In the past, she was very sick and loved to cry alone. However, now that he was married, there was Robert who always encouraged him and took care of him.
Anne could only pray every day that God would open the veil that covered the eyes of her family's heart, and one day they would be aware of their own masks. Hopefully when it comes later, the time is not too late, and not in the seconds almost to death they will only realize their mistake so far with Anne.
Next, there was a handsome man with an old navy tuxedo walking towards Anne and Robert. The man seems upset when the beautiful Anne is taken in by Robert, who is labeled as a son-in-law is not considered in the Halinger family because Robert has no permanent job.
Robert actually forbade Anne to tell people that she had a job in forex. It is better for people to know Robert as the father of the household, after all Robert still wants to investigate the contents of Anne's heart and get to know her more deeply before deciding to tell her identity as a rich man.
“Hai, Anne. How are you?” robert asked, kissing the back of Anne's hand that her husband did not hold. Anne who was uneasy, immediately pulled her hand politely.
“Hai Gerry, our good news. Happy birthday yes, thank you for the invitation,” replied Anne while holding her husband's hand.
Anne did not like the attitude of Gerry who likes to cosor. Anne always refused her gifts, unlike the other girls who asked to buy them to Gerry. Anne's immaterialistic attitude caused Gerry to like her.
Gerry used to propose to Anne to be his wife, but Anne refused him on the grounds of wanting to work first, and did not think of getting married. Gerry is still chasing her, but Anne is good at running away from her. Until Anne finally married Robert, then Gerry somewhat control himself. However, Robert still likes to hope that one day Robert will disappear from Anne's life. The trick is to bully Robert and ugly him in front of anyone.
Robert looked at Gerry sharply and coldly. It was time he had to show his fangs to Gerry.
“Hai Gerry, happy birthday yes, hopefully at your old age you soon find your soul mate and no longer chasing after people's wives,” Robert quipped straightforwardly.
Anne clasped Robert's hand tightly, then turned to Robert and shook her head slowly, as if to hold Robert back from being lured. Robert smiled at Anne and nodded in understanding of Anne's code.
The crowd of guests began to approach and comment.
“Well, what's Robert doing here? He ‘kan has no money, why he and his wife could be invited here and their clothes are so fancy. Surely they rent clothes in the salon deh.”
“Anne is beautiful, but unfortunately her parents do not take good care of her, they instead marry her to a bankrupt man like Robert.”
“Mr Gerry still really likes Anne, see she still hopes Anne gets divorced from Robert.”
Robert's facial expression remained cold and flat, then he came forward and whispered softly in Gerry's ear. A split second later, Gerry's face turned pale and panicked. Cold sweat began to pour on his forehead. Gerry immediately removed his hand from Robert's tuxedo collar.
“We go home first, Gerry. Remember what I said!” Robert looked into Gerry's eyes like a cold-blooded killer. Gerry, who was still in shock, was unable to say anything.
Robert pulled Anne's hand, and moved out of the ballroom. Then, immediately call the driver to drive them home. It is better to go home soon than to eat good food, but it is served hatefully by Gerry.
The guests watched all of this and were confused. Why did Gerry's fangs suddenly just disappear? They were curious and saw Robert riding in his Rolls Royce.
“Whatever why, the Robert looks different tonight, he looks like a god only,” said one of the guests.
“Mr Gerry why so very quiet ya?”
Then, Mrs Spencer approached Gerry and asked in an anxious tone, “Master Gerry, are you okay? Did Robert threaten you?”
“Ti-it's okay Madam, I'm sorry first,” Gerry said in a hurry. He left immediately, and it was better that he just made a quick speech, than this crowd kept questioning him about this and that incident. His pride had been shattered because Robert had managed to silence him.
The party starts and the food is served. However, Gerry is no longer eating. His face kept on daydreaming and his legs were limp.
