Chapter 24: The First Boss Fight
"We're far away, Mama," said William as he stared at the Bronze Gate in front of him.
“Meeeeh.”
“We have done everything in our power to prepare today. It's time to take the final step towards the unknown!”
“Meeeeh!”
William and Ella were currently standing at the gate of the Boss Room located on the Tenth Floor. After raising his work level to level eight, he decided that it was time to experience his First Boss Fight.
After careful consideration, he chose to place the rest of his skill points onto the Ice Wall skill.

“Yosh, let's do this!” William gripped his wand tightly and used his other hand to push the Bronze Gate open.
The first thing William saw when opening the gate was the large area. It was similar to the coliseum in Rome, where gladiators fought each other. The flaming torches lined the side of the boss room emitted a terrifying light around the battlefield.
After William and Ella took a few steps inside the room, the gate was tightly shut behind them. William had already anticipated this scenario so he didn't care much. Immediately, she rubbed her Mama Ella to make sure that she would be able to handle anything thrown at her.
"Give!"
"Leader Flock!"
"Ice Armor!"
"Steel Armament!"
“Meeeeh!”
Ella scavenged the ground and prepared herself for battle. He stood a meter and a half tall and his horns glowed blood red. William stood on the edge of the arena, he also prepared himself for the appearance of the boss.
A ferocious growl echoed within the room as a two-meter-tall goblin leaped from the platform behind the Coliseum. It was covered with leather armor, and equipped with a sword and shield.
William used his Judging Skills to identify their enemies.

Hobgoblin Leader
— After countless evolutions, the goblin race finally gave birth to a leader. Hobgoblins were born from the desire of the goblin race to grow stronger. The Hobgoblin leader was born to lead the Hobgoblins into battle.

William often wonders why his judgment skills don't work the same way they do in novels. Normally, when one used the Appraisal skill, they would be able to see the complete stats of the people and monsters around them.
He had tested his Appraisal skill many times in the past, but there had been no improvement since then. The only stats he could see were his and Ella's.
After reading the description of the Hobgoblin Leader, William narrowed his eyes and focused his attention on the Hobgoblins before him.
After Hobgoblin unleashed another fierce roar, four Goblin Warriors and two Goblin Snipers appeared on the battlefield.
“Mama, take care of Leader Hobgoblin, I will handle the rest!” William commanded.
“Meeeeh!”
Ella, stomp her feet and charge forward. He used his Quick Attack Skill and crashed himself into Hobgoblin.
As if expecting his attack, Hobgoblin raised his shield and blocked his attack. However, Ella's attack was powerful enough to push her back a few meters from where she was standing.
Hobgoblin roared and gave orders to his subordinates. Instead of gnawing at Ella, the subordinates attacked William instead.
The two goblin snipers released their arrows, while the four goblin warriors closed the gap between them and their target.
“Ice Wall!”
An ice pillar appeared in front of William, who immediately neutralized the two arrows. During that short conversation, the goblin warriors managed to close the distance by ten meters. William was currently doing many tasks, he looked at his map, while observing his surroundings.
The goblin warriors split up and attacked William on his left and right sides. Their swords were ready to attack, but William was long ready to intercept them.
“Ice Wall!”
“Magnum Explodes!”
William placed the Wall of Ice on his left and slammed his staff on his right.
The two goblin warriors were thrown backwards due to the impact and suffered minor injuries.
The "L" shaped Ice Wall offered enough protection for William to hold on to one side without worrying about getting a sneak attack from behind. Although he was not as strong as Ella, he had gained enough battle experience to deal with these low-level goblins in close combat.
As long as he didn't face a hobgoblin, William was confident he could hold on until Ella finished dealing with the Hobgoblin leader.
William's spit flew through the air as he fired a barrage of Ice Bullets at his enemies.
'Damn it, I better study the instant cast immediately or the cast without singing, ' William thought. 'Pronouncing spells in quick succession is harder than I thought.'
Screams filled with pain and fury echoed within the Boss Room as the Goblins became enraged. They make wild accusations against William no matter if they live or die.
William gripped his wand and swung it forward.
“Magnum Explodes!”
The goblins flew through the air with blood spilling from their mouths. William shoots another barrage of Ice bullets that turn the goblins into particles of light.
"Two last," William grinned as he released the Ice Wall in front of him. The two goblin archers had chosen to support the Hobgoblin Leader after their failed attempt to shoot William.
Ella dodged their arrows easily because she had already experienced them many times before. He was used to fighting against a group of monsters, and his fighting instincts had been polished to near perfection.
As the attention of the two goblins focused on Ella, they did not see the two Ice Bullets flying towards them. Only when the spell hit their faces did they realize that there was still one more enemy in the room.
Of course, William did not give them a chance to recover and fired four more ice bullets to end their lives.
After dealing with the small fries, William looked at the two fighting fighters in the corner of the coliseum.
The Shield Leader Hobgoblin had already been smashed into pieces, and his body was already stained with blood.
With one final strike, Ella used her Horn Attack and managed to pierce through the stomach of the Hobgoblin Leader. He does not stop his attacks and uses his trademark "Wall Slam" moves to end the battle.
Hobgoblin's lifeless hand fell to the side and turned into particles of light. The battle had ended and the Boss Room was bathed in white light.

After the light receded, a bronze treasure chest appeared in the middle of the arena. William ignored her and immediately ran towards his Mama Ella to check if she was injured during the battle.
The two leveled up after their first boss fight, but to them, it didn't really matter. The important thing is that they both survived.
“Meeeeh!” Ella bleated proudly as if announcing that it was an easy win for her.
William smiled and lovingly hugged his Mama Ella's neck.
“Alhamdulillah, you are safe, Ma.”
“Meeeeh.”
The goat closed its eyes and placed its chin on William's shoulder. William stroked Ella's back while giving her first aid five times. Ella had received several small bruises during the clash with Hobgoblin, and the same bruises disappeared after William used first aid on her.
Five minutes later, William and Ella stood in front of the bronze treasure chest.
“I want to know what's inside. I hope it's gold.” William grinned as he opened the lid.
William and Ella peeked into the chest to see what was inside. Lying on the bottom of the chest is a pair of boots.
"What a coincidence, I need a new pair of boots." William grinned as he picked up the boots from the crate. “It came at the right time. Now, let me use my appraisal skill.”.

"Very good!" William was shocked to learn that the boots were blown away. To him, every stat was important. He had received similar equipment from the crates scattered downstairs. However, the coffin that appeared on the lower floor was an extremely rare occurrence.
In the past nine years, he had only found three chests and three crates that gave him three accessories that he wears to this day.

Now, with the addition of Windborne Boots, William had four enchant items that increased his stats.
“Come back, Mama,” William said after replacing his old boots with Windborne Boots. The boy felt very happy and the anxiety in his heart finally dissipated. The Boss fight went better than he expected. He also praised himself for not rushing to challenge the boss a year ago.
Although the odds of winning against a boss exist, the chances of getting injured are greater.
Only two hours had passed in the real world when William and Ella reappeared in the boy's bedroom. Instead of lying on his bed, William lay on the carpet and hugged his Mama Ella to sleep.
He had long since gotten used to sleeping in his arms. Angorian goats feel the same way as him. He had long considered William his own son.
Shortly after, they both fell asleep. Unbeknownst to William, James sat cross-legged outside his door. As the two of them disappeared from the bedroom, James felt a fluctuation in the air.
He hurriedly went inside William's room to check on him and found no one. With an understanding expression, James left the room and sat guarding outside his grandson's door. He did not move even when he sensed the presence of William and Ella back inside the room.
Only when the two were sound asleep did he return to his own room to rest.
