"Where are we going?"
June asked, sitting next to her in the car. He knew that Will must have had a lot of questions about his strange behavior. But he doesn't know how to break the ice.
"You'll know."
"OKAY. Well, I'm sorry. I've been acting strange lately. That's because I did a lot of auditions and one of them, director—"
"Don't worry about that. Like I said, we can talk after I stop the car."
Will interrupted June in the middle of the sentence and said. There was a strange expression on her face, and June was worried, seeing it like this. But he still sat still.
He was driving for a while, and suddenly, he parked next to a restaurant. Looking at the familiar restaurant, June could not help but glance at Will.
"This is Lakeside's restaurant. Remember I called you here to talk about [The Blair Witch Project]?"
"Yes, but why are we here?"
"I just thought it would be a good place to talk. Especially with the memories associated with this place."
June nodded her head, and they walked in. Fortunately, the waiter did not recognize him. Though, he glanced at her a few times, finding them quite familiar.
They immediately got a seat by the window and sat down.
"What message do you want?"
Will asks, but June shakes her head. Slowly, he opened his lips and said.
"I think we should talk before we eat. I know you have a question, and let me explain myself. I'm not ignoring you or anything. There's a lot of auditions I need to prepare for and..."
He stopped her from saying anything more by waving his hand.
"John told me everything."
"What?" June shouted in a louder tone this time.
"How do you feel inferior because I'm moving too fast in my career, how do you feel not enough, how do the tabloids bother you."
"Will, I ..."
June hesitated to speak while cursing John in her mind. He had told her several times not to tell Will anything, but his agent had ultimately betrayed him.
"I know you're mad at John but don't. It's good he told me because I know you'll never tell me the truth."
June didn't say anything hearing that. His expression dimmed, and he sighed after a moment of silence. Lowering his head, he spoke after a minute.
“I. Yes, I am disturbed, and sometimes I feel unequal to you; I feel like I am not worthy of you. I'm like chasing your shadow and failing in it."
Will doesn't blame June for his thoughts. Other girls in Hollywood will indeed feel like they hit the jackpot after getting her as a boyfriend.
They will even use every opportunity to make it help them in their career. With her being a director, she could at least give the lead actress a role in her film.
But June did not say such a thing, nor did she ask for any help.
It was because he wanted to stand alone. He is too proud of someone to count on Will, especially when everyone thinks that he will use his relationship with Will to get a better role in Hollywood.
"Stay, June, you should have told me about that. Nothing good comes out of not talking. In a relationship, communication is key."
Will spoke with a little anger. She is unhappy with herself as she is unaware of June's growing inferiority, yet she chooses to ignore her. However, he still felt that he could at least say something.
"I know that. I'm sorry, but I just feel like I'll be able to get a lead role sooner or later, and then I can talk to you about it."
He sighed, his anger loosened. There's no point blaming anyone here. That won't solve the situation.
Glancing around the restaurant, he smiled weakly and asked.
"Do you remember the first time we met?"
"Yes." Yeah."
June nodded her head and chuckled.
"Yes, even I was surprised. It happened so fast that I felt like I was making a mistake. After all, we've only known each other for over a month. But it feels right."
Will agrees with her and says, "Yes, because I know that relationships are different. It's not like I've never had a relationship in the past. Maybe because of that, paparazzi articles never bother me."
He had several relationships before moving into this world, and even the previous owner of this body had an ex. But June remains the best among every girl she knows.
He continued his words seeing that he was listening carefully.
"Just I know that you're not with me for the money. I know you better than anyone else, so there's no way that thought would cross my mind. Paparazzi articles are nonsense, and I'll even sue them tomorrow morning. "
The last line is not a bottomless threat. Ever since he read the article, he would always sue the company.
Hollywood celebrities have a history of suing paparazzi, so Will won't even be first on the list.
"As much as you feel inferior, I know that feeling will not go away easily. But I also know that you are a great actress and you will become one of the leading actresses in all of Hollywood one day, making millions from just one. This will happen with or without me supporting you!" He breathed before adding. "And I know you feel the distance between us is getting further, and I'll be honest, I plan to direct and produce more films from now on. So, it was inevitable that anyone who was with me would probably feel it even more. But I'm I'm not going anywhere or turning into someone else. I'm still here with you!"
As Will said all that in a serious tone, June could only feel a warm feeling. A bit of clarity returned to him as he found himself ridiculous from worrying about such things.
"sorry. It's all my fault. I'm worrying you, aren't I?"
June asked as her face relaxed to a brighter tone, and in the corner of her eyes, she could see teardrops.
"More than that, I thought you'd break up with me. That's pretty scary."
"I would never."
He chuckled, and for a moment, he did not say anything, slowly thinking of something in his mind. After a while, June smiled brightly and opened her lips.
"You know, I'll be a top actress someday, and at that time, I'll make sure you can count on me."
***
"There's a lot of fuss around this project because it's the first time we've seen you as a romantic hero. But how do you look at this movie, and why do you think this is the perfect role for you?"
Jared smiled brightly at the question. She is currently in an interview with one of the leading celebrity magazines, 'Hollywood Now'.
It's part of studio Z and ICM's marketing plan for the film, and it's working well for now. There was genuine curiosity about his image change, and he enjoyed every moment of it.
"I always wanted to do a romantic comedy after going through so many intense roles in different movies, and [Sleepless in LA] seemed like the perfect movie. The main character has everything in his life, but he still spends sleepless nights because he doesn't have it. I feel it's a charming but vulnerable character, and it's a perfect fit for me."
The reporter smiled at her answer and proceeded to the next question. But this one makes Jared's face angry, and he can barely hide it.
"There was a rumor that you were in talks with Will Evans for a role in the next film before signing the film. Do you regret losing it because it was touted as a big project?"
Reporters have been asking this question primarily to get headlines from Jared, and unfortunately, he even falls in love with her.
"Repent?" Jared laughed, shaking his head. "I'm actually glad I didn't get this role. Will is a good innovative director, and his first film did well, but I think it was soon for him to direct a multimillion-dollar film."
"So, from your tone, it looks like you're rejecting roles that are contrary to what we heard."
Jared nodded, and the Reporter could not help but smile, thinking of the article he was going to write.
"The role was pretty good, and I felt that Will's screenwriting skills were the best, but we couldn't get to the point of meeting, and I turned down the role."
"But it turns out, Ewan Rees is now playing the character?"
Jared's face was wrinkled to hear it. He finally realized that the Reporter was trying to throw him into the fire.
He could underestimate Will, and seven out of ten people would even agree with him because Will still had a lot to prove.
But he couldn't say anything bad about Ewan, the more experienced and famous actor than him. Otherwise, he would only face the anger of the latter's fans.
"Maybe he likes that character better. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Ewan will play this role very well. Next question, please."
He quickly said and urged the Reporter to proceed with another question. The reporter sighed, continuing with the next question but silently thought in his head that this was enough for a headline.
