Jeffrey began reading the script after Will's explanation of why it seemed short satisfied him.
To be honest, Will was already able to empathize with the director who was frustrated with him.
Not only was his personality picky, it was also the way he spoke.
“How do you plan to shoot this? The dialogue is not much, and adding too many sound effects may backfire for us.”
Jeffery direct, to say the least.
Will shook his head after hearing the question, “The technique we used fits this script perfectly. We're going to use a technique called Found Footage. That's a gonna-"
"Find the footprints?" Jeffery cut it, “Are you real? This technique was last used thirty years ago.” After a pause of a while, he shook his head while adding, “I don't think it will work. The film may become monotonous.”
Will nodded, “I understand that, and that is the reason why I am here for you. Because we will present the entire film as if it were a found film or video recording, we will need a lot of sound effects to add tones of uncertainty and create fear of the unknown among the audience.”
Jeffery was silent for a moment before asking. “You know, it's not my first time working on a horror project, and I agree with your last point, but aren't you going to show Blair Witch? It will eliminate the fear of the unknown.”
"Oh?" Will frowned.
In the [Blair Witch Project] of his world, the filmmakers did not show the face of the Blair Witch to the audience, and left it to the imagination of the audience.
But here, Will wants to make a little change to give the Blair Witch character a strong base, and the best way to do that is to show it, albeit in just milliseconds.
"Uhm... I suggest not showing Witch Blair would have a better reaction," Jeffery let out his thoughts.
Will shook his head, "I thought about this scenario, but as you said before, there is a high chance that the movie will become monotonous, especially since we used the Found Footage technique to record it."
"We're going to use it for the whole movie?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"Oh ..." Jeffery lightly nodded his head, "Then yes, I guess it will become monotonous."
Will smiled, “There's another reason why I want to add the Blair Witch, rather than leave it to the imagination of the audience.”
"Oh? And that's…?"
“Satisfaction. Viewers will be satisfied and consider the money well spent on tickets after taking a quick look at the Blair Witch. I'm sure, some might even come for another show, just to take a second look. ”
Jeffery nodded, “I agree with that. However, since you plan on using Found Footage, the film will use a first-person perspective. It takes everything to a whole new level because the actors will do a lot of close ups and their facial expressions will be very important. Have you started auditioning for this script? Or are you planning to audition the actor right away? ”
"Oh?" Jeffery asked, "It just so happens, did you bring in a famous person?"
"No." Will shook his head, “I'm nobody in the industry, at least for now. But honestly, I don't want to have a famous actor in this movie.”
"Oh? And the reason behind it is?”
"Realism." Will replied, “Because there has been found footage, it would be more believable if we use a novice actor, or someone who is not known by the public. That, in my opinion, would serve more viewers than bringing in a famous actor or actress, who might as well bring in their fan base, but in the end, the audience would not feel the realism, he said, because they know who the person on the screen is, and this, in turn, will have an adverse effect on the potential box office.”
Jeffery was satisfied with Will's answer and then put the script down, he asked, "Have you decided on the set yet?"
“Montgomery County, Maryland.”
"Oh? Why there?"
“Yah, the terrain, of course. It's perfect for this script, and I've heard there are some great civil war-era houses and huts in the woods as well, which makes it even better for us.”
"Oh, you've researched all this?"
Will nodded, “This may be my first project, but I also consider it my last night, and it's reason enough for me to give everything I have.”
Jeffery was slightly surprised by Will's words, but remained satisfied with his enthusiasm.
“Alright, I want to be a part of this project. When do you plan to start filming?” He asked with a smile on his face.
The smile on his short stature and rough face created a very unique vibe, and it was very positive - something that others rarely saw from Jeffery.
Will on the other hand felt a sudden relief after hearing Jeffery's words.
“The filming schedule is not final yet,” Will replied, “Although I want to start it as soon as possible, but honestly, you are the first person I invited to join this crew after.select an actor.”
"Oh?"
"Yes," Will nodded, "And it will take some time to form an entire team. I even gave myself a two-week deadline to set up a film crew.”
Jeffery thought for a moment and then asked, "How about we use my crew?"
"Huh?"
“You heard it right. I myself have a small crew, and this project will need a very good video editor, and the people I know, in my opinion, are the perfect choice for this type of filmmaking. What say?"
