The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 29

After giving directions to Emilia and talking to Jeffrey, Will finally returns home.

Looking at the small apartment, where he had to pay rent every month, he decided to buy a house after [The Blair Witch Project] showed up at the box office.

After that night with June, she often comes to hang out at her house; though they do nothing due to being busy and focused, Will thinks of everything.

He wanted everything to go perfectly and did not want anything bad to happen to the film due to his lack of attention.

On Friday, the editing was finally completed as Will ordered a small theater to watch the movie with the rest of the cast and crew.

As the film finished, cheers were heard from the enthusiastic group. Will was very satisfied with his editing.

Emilia had maintained the scene she wanted, and the end result was much better than the actual [Blair Witch Project].

Instead of showing the witch Blair throughout the film and numbing the audience for her looks and fear factor, Will has just caught a glimpse of the witch Blair at the end of the film.

That glance was enough to instill fear, and many people would go back to watching the movie again just to get that glimpse again.

When Will calls everyone at the theater, he tells them that it will be the day that everyone will receive their payment.

Overall, he has spent $ 100k just for shooting, including props and every other cost for shooting.

He spent a little less than $ 100rb for the main cast and supporters of the film and spent about $ 50rb for the crew and editing.

Everyone involved was not famous or anything, the overall cost could be called much cheaper than the average movie, but it was still enough to deliver a huge earthquake into Will's pocket, he said, who don't have much money.

After giving the payment to everyone in person and commenting on 'good job' or 'finished, Will has about $250 thousand left on his card, which he got after selling the script [17 More].

Afterwards, everyone goes home except June, who has taken over Will's house as her personal residence, which Will of course accepts very willingly.

It's nice to have him around, and he helps a lot by giving his ideas and feedback on everything.

Two days passed, and Sunday arrived, the day that Benjamin had arranged a meeting with Will and the Head of Distribution of Starfox Studios.

The offices of Starfox Studios are very close to the MCA as the whole of Hollywood has decided to make 'Hollywood Areas' in every city, making studios and such things close to each other.

Will wore a dark gray coat over a black shirt and pants. Although he did not care much about looks, the same could not be said for others.

Good appearance and personality are very important when doing new things and making new connections, which will give an excellent first impression.

Upon entering the office, he approached the help desk and told the woman gawking at him that he had a meeting with Chandler Davies, head of the distribution department at Starfox Studios.

The woman confirmed and made a few calls, after which someone who could easily be misunderstood as a pole out.

He had a frown on his face that was covered by large glasses.

"You...Will Evans? Doesn't it? Mr. Davies has told me about your previous meeting. I'm James Dankworth, his personal assistant. He has given me the right to continue meeting today because he is busy."

Therefore, he told his assistant to go out and meet Will, make some excuses and reject the film indirectly.

There are plenty of small-time independent directors with movies ready to distribute; that doesn't mean Chandler checks every movie and meets everyone in person when he already has a busy schedule.

To be honest, James disliked such young directors who thought that they could make something worthwhile.

Their films are poorly directed, have no real plot, and have low-level editing, not to mention Will is here to show his horror films.

Starfox Studios rarely makes horror films because of the reputation they have created over the years.

"I thought I'd meet Mr. Davies. Where is he?"

will said, noticing the scorn the assistant seemed to throw at him.

"He did something urgent. You can show your movie or go. Choices, Son. I don't have much time to talk to you."

James's tone was extremely harsh, and his body language showed his annoyance. For a moment, Will wanted to reply to her but decided not to.

After all, he is here to sell movies and should be polite.

Even if James was a rude bastard, he would have to endure it for a while. Just for the movie.

"okay." Will just said.

"Follow me."

Will follows James into the media room, and as they enter the room, the annoyed assistant asks.

"What kind of movie is that? The same witch horror movie."

At that moment, Will realizes that his assistant doesn't even know that [The Blair Witch Project] was recorded with a camcorder and isn't the usual movie he expected.

Smiling at himself, Will explained.

"It's about the story of three friends who try to unravel the mystery behind a local legend called the Blair Witch."

"I've seen a lot of movies like that. Most of them aren't even scary."

"I'm pretty sure my movie will be different. After all, this is one of its kind."

"What do you mean?"

James asked, puzzled and Will replied with a smirk.

"It's a horror movie recorded with a camcorder."
