The Love of the Unknown Man

The Love of the Unknown Man
29. Five Years Later

Lisa sewed the wound on the head of a young man with great care. While the young man himself just sat like a statue did not move at all.

Not far from them, the middle-aged man sat looking so worriedly at the young man.

“Doctor, can the wound on Bian's head heal quickly? He won't amnesia right?” a middle-aged man who appears to be a baseball coach.

Lisa glanced to give a smile and then refocused on her work.

“It's just a minor wound won't make someone into amnesia, sir.”

The man stroked the chest. “Oh, thank goodness. I'm worried if he gets amnesiac and forgets all the rules of baseball. He's our team's mainstay player,” obviously the guy was long.

Hearing the word amnesia, suddenly made Lisa remember the amnesiac man who had once stopped in Lisa's life.

Moreover, the injuries obtained by his patients were exactly the wounds experienced by Edgar. It's just that Edgar's injuries were much worse.

When it was finished, only Lisa was sitting alone in her study. He daydreamed as his hand knocked a pencil onto the table.

Five years have passed. Lisa thinks that time will be able to erase Edgar from her mind. But it turned out wrong. Because what happened was that Lisa missed the man even more.

“How is he doing now huh?” mumbling Lisa.

Lisa's mind slowly floated on the night when she was hit by a gang and ended up fainting.

Lisa was dreaming of hearing Edgar's voice. Even in the dream Edgar showered his face with a kiss.

Lisa subconsciously rubbed her lips using her fingertips as soon as she remembered the dream. Then a hand patted slowly Lisa's arm which made her regain her senses and turned to the woman who was her assistant.

“Doctor Lisa, no more patients waiting in line.”

Lisa cleared her throat to neutralize the self that was ashamed of being caught daydreaming.

“Oh, then I will go to Mr. Henri's room,” Lisa said as she got up from her seat.

“So I will be transferred to the branch hospital?” lisa asked after hearing the explanation from the hospital director.

Henri just nodded his head in response. Henri realizes that Lisa, who has now worked as a doctor at his hospital, must be moved.

Not because of Lisa's poor performance, but because the branch hospital is in desperate need of medical personnel. Actually, Henri was not willing to remember many patients who really liked the service of Lisa's doctor.

Different from Henri, Lisa actually arched a smile. Because the location of the branch hospital is not far from his hometown.

Lisa hasn't been back to the village for years. The faint shadow of every corner of the house he had long left behind was slowly evident in his eyes.

“Starting next monday you have started working there, Lisa.”

Lisa nodded her head quickly. After no more talking, Lisa came out of the room.

Along the way from the hospital's director's room, Lisa walks with a heart that can no longer resist longing. He didn't realize there were a pair of eyes watching him.

A man observes Lisa walking down the hospital hallway. For a moment the man hesitated but soon he made up his mind to talk to Lisa.

“Sa, your practice hours are done right?”

Lisa turned her head and her lips curled a smile at Devan who was already standing at the back.

“Doctor Devan,” greet Lisa instead of answering Devan's question.

Makes the man breathe. She doesn't really like it when Lisa is being too formal with her.

“Your practice hours are done?” Devan repeated the question again.

Lisa nodded. “I also have something I want to say.”

Then they both walked side by side to the hospital rooftop. Where they both used to relax their minds for a moment while looking at the city view from the top of the building.

Now both of Lisa's hands are grasping the parapet with beads of eyes that stare away from the multi-storey buildings. The wind gently rubbed Lisa's hair from her face.

“Doctor Devan, what do you want to say?”

“Lisa, can you not call me doctor? We have known each other for a long time, ” Devan said in a slightly irritated tone.

“Yes, but whatever you are my senior, brother. Although we have been friends all this time,” said Lisa without looking at Devan's face that was bent.

Lisa's beads of eyes continued to scour every corner of the city from where she stood.

“Friend?” muttered Devan. Then the man snorted.

Making Lisa who was standing at the side turned her head and frowned when she realized the change in Devan's eyes.

“Something is wrong, brother? We have been friends all this time, right?”

Devan smiled bitterly with eyes that could not be separated from the beautiful face of Lisa.

“Yes, we are friends, but I want our relationship to be more than just friends, Sa.”

Lisa looked back at Devan. He examined the look displayed by the man he had always considered to be his older brother.

Looking at Lisa who was silent, Devan grabbed Lisa's hand and held her tightly.

“Lisa, I want you to be my girlfriend.”

Suddenly Lisa laughed which even made Devan frown. Slowly Lisa took her hand out of Devan's.

“Kak Devan, your joke is not funny.”

“Am I kidding, Sa?”

Lisa silent. Once again he looked at Devan's face and realized that the man was serious.

“But, Brother Devan, I'm sorry.

Lisa could not continue her words. So Devan himself guessed.

“You can't forget that amnesiac guy?” guess Devan who Lisa answered with a nod.

Devan clucked while shaking his head. As someone who has known for a long time, he knows that in Lisa's heart has been inhabited by a man who never once met the girl.

This is not the first time Lisa has received a love statement from a man. Devan recalls that there were many men who expressed love, some even dared to propose to Lisa.

But all the men are rejected and only Devan knows the real reason, Lisa, who still holds a taste in an amnesiac man she once helped.

“But, Lisa. Wh why? Why do you still remember that man. He never even saw you again. Now he may already be happy with another woman.”

Lisa down. Everything Devan said was true and he didn't know why it was so hard to forget Edgar.

“I know, Brother. I have tried to forget him but what happened I even miss him more,” said Lisa still downcast not daring to look at Devan's bead eyes that have certainly implied a disappointment.

“Try to accept me as your lover, Sa,” Pinta Devan full of coercion.

It was silent for a moment because neither Lisa nor Devan made a sound to speak. Until finally Lisa looked up her head back at Devan's sharp gaze.

“If I force myself to accept Brother Devan, won't I hurt Brother's feelings even more? Sorry, Sis. I can't.”

For a moment Lisa intended to step foot away. However, he came to a halt and looked back at Devan who was displaying a sad face.

“And one more, Brother. I'll be transferred to a branch hospital and maybe we'll meet less often. But I feel good to be friends with Devan.”
