The Immortal Fire
Chapter 36: Xi Guan Yang Feeling Lost

Xi Guan kicked off his desk. Every day he always yelled and yelled at his subordinates, precisely after the day Liu Ying was gone and lost somewhere.

Zhou Li had made many reasonable excuses, but Xi Guan's grumpy brain remained unable to accept it.

"How did the fly get away so easily?! I don't want to know, find that little bastard until you can, or never go back to the Lotus-Vale!!"

Zhou Li knelt down and lowered his head, "Under the chairman, we will try."

The old woman got up and brought all the senior disciples assigned to the outer sect, certainly to look for the granddaughter of the raging old tiger.

Zhou Li was already unable to continuously make excuses to stop the search, he only wished for Liu Ying to go as far as possible and be nowhere to be found.

Fang Yao who had just walked out of the training hall directly walked over to Zhou Li, his eyes shining a question mark meaning.

"Ah, Fang Boy. We can't protect her anymore, just depending on fate. Suspected people are not allowed to participate in the task this time, nor am I."

Hearing that, Fang Yao breathed in lethargy. He had expected this before, it was definitely unavoidable.

On the day Liu Ying escaped, Zhou Li returned to the sect to report to Xi Guan. It made their Sect Chief angry.

Zhou Li reasoned that he saw the swordsman in black with a cloth covering his face, as if assuming that Liu Ying was kidnapped by some person from the black sect.

But Xi Guan was not an easy believer in something he had not yet determined, because Liu Ying's existence was almost unheard of to anyone but the people from the Lotus Valley.

Hence, Old Cheng would intervene by himself visiting the Demon Distilled Sect to ascertain whether Bai Ma was involved in the case.

"Chairman Zhou, is there no other way? I was worried that Liu'er might still be in a nearby town not too far away," Fang Yao lamented listlessly.

Zhou Li shook his head in response, he patted Fang Yao's head while chuckling crisply.

"I just got a letter from Madam Yu in Liang city, that lackey boy had escaped a few days ago. It is not strange considering the temperament and the way the boy behaved, he should have already passed Longshi."

Zhou Li insisted that perhaps Liu Ying had already begun to understand his original purpose, the capital was the only way to resolve this matter. The clueless Fang Yao felt Zhou Li was too relaxed to deal with the circumstances.

Moments after they had clashed with each other, they were startled by Long Feiye's presence with his unfriendly-looking face.

"Trauded, troublemaking, deceiving the Chairman. Is it an appropriate deed for an Elder in charge of discipline?" the circus Long Feiye positioned himself in the midst of them.

Fang Yao's jaw hardened, he pulled hard on Long Feiye's clothes violently with an intimidating look. But Zhou Li immediately mediated and stopped the quarrel of the two young men, Zhou Li remained calm.

"Young Master Long of the venerable Xiushan, I am not surprised by your foresight who easily knows all our simple plans. But do you know the root of this problem?"

Long Feiye turned his head violently, "Any excuse, committing treason to a sect is still a mistake."

Hearing him Zhou Li instead let out a crisp laugh, the woman patted Long Feiye's chest, leaving the young man in a daze.

"The person who cannot see the truth is the least hearted. You should think a few times before reporting this to the chairman," Zhou Li said.

"Tang Uprising, God's Decree conspiracy, the mystery of the Blood River Tragedy, Mr. Cheng's murder, the death of Officer Gao. You probably wouldn't have thought that the dumb-looking Granddaughter of the Sect Chief would be involved, would you?"

Long Feiye stiffened instantly, his gaze loosening with a look of disbelief clearly drawn. "Omong empty!"

In one look, Long Feiye already knew that Zhou Li was not joking at all with his words.

"Then, isn't putting Miss Ying in public inviting trouble?!"

"I know!!"

"If so cooperate, Long Feiye," Zhou Li said last time.

He then left the two young men and went towards the gazebo in front of Xi Guan's residence.

Fang Yao also returned to the dormitory and found Jia Li playing with a hairpin in his hand, spending some time staring at it for a long time.

The girl was slightly excited as Fang Yao approached her. "A'Yao, when can we be released from this prison? I'm so jealous of Liu'er being free to roam out there."

Fang Yao flicked Jia Li's head, making the girl turn her head with an annoyed face.

"Stupid."

"Damn it! That fool is you, Ugly Fox." Jia Li pulled Fang Yao's earlobe roughly.

The young man whimpered and tried to let go of Jia Li's grip, he chuckled softly before then moving away from his best friend.

"Living in the outside world isn't as easy as you think. Besides why do you want to leave the sect, isn't Elder Zhou's cooking always delicious?"

Jia Li let out an annoyed bellow, "Not that, I just want to be free like Liu Ying. He could see the outside world freely, surely his experience was increasing."

"Xiao Li, it's not a matter of playfulness." Fang Yao seemed to think for a moment, he sighed saturatedly.

"Actually, I have a way for us to get out of the sect." a smile puffed up on Fang Yao's lips.

However Jia Li was not at all interested when he heard that. "If your way is to run away and trick the entire sect, I won't go along."

"Ck, that's not it." Fang Yao again sighed, "We only need to pass the YuTong Examination. That way, we can have access to the in and out of the sect."

Jia Li immediately smiled. But a moment later he seemed to realize something, his face back moody.

"You know for yourself, I suck at all my martial skills. I even got the last rank last year," Jia Li replied.

"But you can practice from now on."

"A'Yao, the exam will be held in the next three months . With our abilities, I think passing the YuTong exam is impossible" Jia Li exclaimed without interest.

Everyone knew very well how weak Jia Li was among his contemporaries, arguably even very bad. In contrast to the mischievous yet talented Liu Ying and Fang Yao, Jia Li was just mischievous and untalented.

Based on that reason, passing the YuTong exam was clearly not going to pass. The YuTong Examination was an exam that was held once every five years for Junior sect disciples.

The escaped student will be made a senior and given free access to exit the sect, get assignments, and be allowed to travel on special missions.

Fang Yao might just have a chance to pass this test, but Jia Li had no hope.

Jia Li's hair brushed away instantly after hearing Fang Yao's words.

"I guess, three months is enough to train you in total," cried Fang Yao in Jia Li's ear.
