The Guardians: The Swordsman of the Moon

The Guardians: The Swordsman of the Moon
Rich Village Poor Village.

Mo Xian and his friends' journey with Bao Yu had already taken seven days since their departure, and they had been completely out of Bai Lian's territory.

Bao Yu told his disciples that they would rest when they found the nearest inn after coming out of the forest. And they found a small village that had no lodging but their village chief gladly offered his house as a place for them to stay.

"This village doesn't have many residents, so we don't have lodging and restaurants, but we don't mind giving it a place to rest."

The middle-aged man in simple clothes let Bao Yu and his students into the house.

Mo Xian noticed the village chief's house was very simple, it did not have many rooms and furniture. However, the village chief who had the name Fang Zhoumu was very friendly to his guests.

Fang Zhaomu took Bao Yu to an empty room with an old window and invited his guests to sit down. Afterwards, Fang Zhaomu called his wife to provide tea.

Fang Zhaomu's wife looked like most simple housewives, carrying a tray containing a package of tea, which she had been given, Mo Xian could see a small child sleeping on the back of Fang Zhaomu's wife who was guarded with a sling of shabby cloth with several patches.

"Pardon us for inconveniencing you, Madam Fang. We're very grateful."

Fang Zhaomu's wife smiled amiably. "It's okay, it's our obligation to make our guests comfortable. We're the ones who should be sorry for not being able to host you better than this."

Bao Yu shook his head. "No, this is more than enough, Madam Fang."

After that Madam Fang resigned after bringing them the steaming sweet potatoes. Fang Zhaomu also said he could not accompany them as he had to inspect the fields and ask his guests to rest, making themselves as comfortable as possible in his home.

"Teacher ... The village is very quiet" Zhang Rouruan said as he looked out the window and saw only a handful of people passing by.

"This village was not there before when I passed this place eighteen years ago. From the houses of the people I saw it looks like they're new here."

"Why did they choose to live here?" ask Zhang Rouruan.

"They must have had their own reasons, or maybe they found this place to have fertile soil and good for farming."

Hearing Bao Yu's reply, Zhang Rouruan stopped asking. Meanwhile Mo Xian moved from his seat and asked Bao Yu for permission to walk out and look at the village.

Bao Yu allowed Mo Xian, but the others followed. In the end Bao Yu sat alone in the middle of the quiet room with Xiao Hei who had inexplicably not followed Mo Xian this time.

Bao Yu looked at the adorable black cat sitting in front of her looking at her with her bright eyes, wiggling her tail to the right and left slowly. Pouring tea, Bao Yu placed a cup of tea in front of Xiao Hei.

"Young people can never be silent. Letting this old man sit alone. Xiao Hey, accompany me for a drink."

However, the cat immediately jumped out of the window after smelling the scent of green tea on his nose. Bao Yu smiled wryly, even the cat could judge the tea that Fang Zhaomu's wife was the tea with the worst quality. However, Bao Yu remained respectful to the host by drinking his tea before deciding to meditate.

Outside, Mo Xian parted ways with Zhang Rouruan who saw the girls chatting in a lotus pond not far from the house. Zhang Rouruan said he wanted to take some lotus seeds for Bao Yu. Mo Xian wanted to follow Zhang Rouruan, but was prevented by Wu Jiao Xing.

"The girls are troublesome, what if they like you and start following you like chicks?"

Hearing him, Mo Xian's face immediately darkened and ugly. He remembered how the girls in Bai Lian's sect followed him like a bunch of chicks wherever Mo Xian went. That, really uncomfortable.

So now there was only Mo Xian and Wu Jiao Xing walking around the village.

The village may have a small population, but it has a vast lotus pond, abundant fields and rice fields and the profession of everyone in the village can already be said to be a farmer.

Walking around the rice fields, Mo Xian saw the rice fields were like a sea of gold with yellowed rice and saw people were busy harvesting rice. There Mo Xian saw that Fang Zhaomu was also busy harvesting rice with his wife.

Gazing at the vastness of the rice field area in front of him, Mo Xian chose to sit on the grass and enjoy the wind that hit his body while thinking about his conversation with Bao Yu during the trip.

During the trip, Bao Yu added a lot of knowledge about the spells that were in this world and it made Mo Xian understand more and more with the combined matter. However, it still did not pave the way to find out where the spell he encountered in the dead village came from.

Sighing, Mo Xian stared at the surroundings and found a hint of awkwardness.

"This village has so much agricultural land, even the land also looks very fertile, but why do the residents here look so poor?"

Mo Xian's words referred to the houses of the residents that looked very simple, the wooden walls of their houses were weathered, and the, the roof they used even still used dry hay ties and even the house of the village chief that should have been able to look better than the others, did not have much furniture.

The fields in the village had many fruit vegetables planted. Mo Xian himself had already seen how their crops were so abundant, not only tomatoes, radishes and cabbage, Mo Xian had also seen many citrus trees and apples that bore much fruit.

Supposedly, with their abundant harvests and how the land in this village is truly blessed, the lives of the residents here can have a better life. However, the village chief only entertained them with bitter tea and boiled yam that even had holes in some parts, signifying the yam had also been eaten by caterpillars.

"Is the village chief really a stingy person?" mo Xian asked plainly at Wu Jiao Xing who immediately hit his head.

Mo Xian complained, rubbing his head that had just been hit.

"Gege, why do you like hitting me so much?" mo Xian's.

Wu Jiao Xing looked at him in annoyance. "I thought when you said this village looks poor, but the crops are abundant, you've guessed something strange in this village. I can't think at all that your little brain will think the village chief is stingy."

"Meow." Suddenly Xiao Hei made a sound after scattering himself at his master.

"Look, even Xiao Hei agreed." Wu Jiao Xing added.

"Xiao Hei has just come, and how can a cat know what we're talking about." Mo Xian refuted.

Wu Jiao Xing rolled his eyes and folded his hands. "The black cat is even smarter than you, when there is danger he knows better what to do. So how does he not know what we're talking about?"

"Meow." Xiao Hei meowed, licking his front paws, as if enjoying Wu Jiao Xing's praise for him.

Mo Xian's lips wrinkled, sneering in his heart but he did not say anything. Mo Xian felt himself too tired lately and did not want to argue with Wu Jiao Xing who would give a hundred sentences if he refuted his words. This boy is really very chatty beyond his adoptive mother—Li Zhou Ran.

So, in the end Mo Xian chose to ignore it and slept on the grass. Beside him, Wu Jiao Xing sighed and sat down beside him and accompanied him.
