The Bond of Our Love

The Bond of Our Love
CHAPTER 34-Letting You go

"After all, not necessarily your parents not thinking about you right now. Could it be, for over a month they continue to worry about you? Continued to be haunted by the guilt of having thrown you away. Because I'm sure, no parent wants to lose a child"

Zahra gave a long, long speech that managed to make Rahul's heart soften a little.

"You think that's like that?"

"He em"

"Well, for the sake of you and our baby-to-be, I will try to forget what happened in the past. I will try to make peace with my past and my family. But on one condition" Rahul's tone of voice had already begun to soften.

"Whatis that?

"Please promise to always be by my side, and never leave me. Even if I'm going to see my parents later, I want to see them with you. And I'll introduce you as the wife and mother of my future baby"

"Without being asked, I will always accompany you. Where could I possibly be far away from my satyaku" Zahra smiled broadly and hugged Rahul with her pot of rice.

Rahul returned his wife's embrace lovingly. Now his heart was relieved. There is no more burden. Because he told his wife everything.

While hugging and making out, suddenly Zahra's phone on the nightstand rang.

"Eh, your phone is ringing" said Rahul.

"Yes, just a minute" Zahra picked up her phone and stared at her screen.

"From who?"

"From Wirda's. Tumben he called me?" Zahra put the phone in her ear.

"Hallo. Yes Wir, what's wrong? Tumben call? What's?! My mother's illness relapsed, and now she's in the hospital?! Oh God. Yes, now I ask you to take care of my mother. I'm going there now" Zahra closed the voice call with a feeling of dread at the thought of her mother's condition across the street.

"What's wrong? What happened to Mom?" Rahul asked who was anxious to hear Zahra's conversation just now.

"Mother is in the hospital. Wirda said his illness was relapsing" Zahra replied in a voice that sounded frustrated.

"God. Then how is he doing now?" Rahul gasped at the condition of his mother-in-law.

"I don't know. I'm really worried about Mom. I'm so scared of Mom that it's okay. How'this?" Zahra answered with teary eyes. The crying is about to break.

"Quietly. Don't panic okay. We need to stay positive thinking. Mom's gonna be okay. Yes" Rahul hugged and stroked Zahra's cheeks gently. Trying to calm his wife.

"But I have to see him. I can't calm down here, while I don't know how my mother's situation is" Tangis Zahra was accompanied by tears falling down her face.

"Yes, then, let's go back to the village to see Mom. Yea?" Rahul's Proposal.

"No-no. Just leave me alone. You stay right here. The doctor said you should stay here until your eye bandage is opened"

"So you're saying, I should let you go alone in the middle of this pregnant condition of yours?"

"Don't worry. I'll be fine. I promise, I'll take good care of myself and the little ones"

"But...."

"Later on, I'll call you. Likewise, if later Mom's condition has improved, I'll come straight back here"

"That means you have to go back and forth from the village to Jakarta? You are pregnant. If you get tired later how?"

"Then what should I do? I want to see Mom. Please let me go. Because I couldn't leave without my husband's permission" Zahra continued to try to persuade Rahul to let him go in a sobbing voice.

"I'm sorry. I still can't be your protector" Lirih Rahul.

"Please don't talk like that. I never blamed you or thought of you as a useless husband. For to me you are the best husband that God has given me. I am so happy to be your wife. It's just a matter of circumstances"

"Once my eye bandage is opened, I'll catch up with you. Remember, never forget to call me"

"That means I can go?" Zahra's round eyes that were still glazed with tears began to sparkle at her husband's answer.

"As long as you can meet my two conditions"

"What conditions?" Ask Zahra enthusiastically.

"Yes as you said. You'll take good care of yourself and little. And you'll call me there often"

"I promise" Zahra answered quickly with an enthusiastic smile.

"Little, all right, son. Don't misbehave. Never trouble my bidadar" Rahul caressed Zahra's stomach. Then kiss the stomach that has begun to distend it gently.

"Yes Dad, I promise. Dah" Zahra got out of the bed but her hand was pulled by Rahul.

"Eiiit...."

"You forgot something?"

"What's that?"

"This" Rahul moved his lips. Zahra who understood what her husband meant let out a heavy sigh.

"Don't start again. This is a hospital"

"So you don't want to? I can't give you permission to leave either. Doesn't a wife have to get permission from her husband if she wants to leave?" Kelakar Rahul who makes Zahra inevitably have to obey his wishes.

"Okay my dear husband. Muah" Zahra kissed and kissed her husband's lips for a while. Until he was satisfied and went back out of bed. "Become"

Rahul pulled his wife's hand back and took it off slowly. I don't know why it feels so hard to let go of his wife. His heart felt unsettled.

Maybe it was because he had to let go of the woman to travel away from her for a few days. Yeah, it must be because of that.

For these five months he never separated from his wife.

He wished that three days would soon pass. He could not wait for his eye bandage to be opened as soon as possible. So that he can catch up and get back together with his wife.

"Be careful"

******

It has been three days since Zahra returned to the village and left Rahul in the hospital itself. During these two they always actively communicate through cell phones.

But somehow, since yesterday Rahul keeps trying to contact Zahra. But his wife's number was always out of reach.

A feeling of worry ambushed him. Moreover, today was the day that he would open his eye bandage. The feeling of nervousness and uneasiness enveloping his chest would result from this operation. Will it work and he will be able to see again, or fail and he will still be blind?

At times like this, he needed Zahra to give him some spirit. He tried hard to dismiss the negative thoughts that haunted him. He must be sure his wife is okay.

Maybe he's busy taking care of a sick mother. Yeah, it must be like that. He should still be able to think positively.

"Good morning, Mr. Rahul. Meet me Doctor Surya. I am in charge of replacing Doctor Hadi who has been on duty in Singapore for several months now. Today is the time your eye bandage will be opened. Are you ready"

Rahul hears the voice of a man who seems to be an aged man. Unlike Hadi's doctor who sounds still his age.

"iy-iya Doc, I'm ready" replied Rahul nervously.

"alright. Before the bandage is opened, we'll do an inspection first"

"Now I will open the bandage. No need to be nervous sir, just relax" After checking Rahul's condition, the doctor began to open his eye bandage slowly.

Until now his eyes are in a state of innocence. Not covered anything even though it is still in a closed state.

"Well, now try to open your eyes slowly, and blink slowly if it is open"

According to the doctor's instructions, Rahul slowly opened his eyes. Everything in front of him looked white. He didn't see anything. He closed his eyes and opened them slowly. He still can't see anything. Everything looks gray. He tried again. His vision began to appear but was still very blurry. Rahul closed his eyes and opened them slowly.

This time, he was so fascinated by what was in front of him. He could clearly see every sight that was in front of him.

Rahul turned his gaze to the two people standing beside his bed.

A middle-aged man wearing a shirt wrapped in a white suit. And a young woman in nurse's clothes who was standing next to the doctor.

"Sir Rahul, how is it sir? Can you see me?" Ask the doctor to make sure.

"Doctor? Yes Doc, I can see. Everything in this room, I can see it clearly. Hah" Rahul smiled movedly scanning each side of the room. He can see everything. Everything looks bright and clear

"Alhamdulillah, the operation turned out to be successful sir. Now I will try to double check your cornea" the doctor also check again the condition of Rahul's eye. "Congratulations Sir, for the success of your eye surgery. Then excuse me first"

"Yes Doc, thank you"

The doctor and his assistant pass by, leaving Rahul feeling matchless.

It was like a dream he had thought would never come true. For years, he thought he would be a blind man for good until the end of his life.

But now a miracle was really approaching him. And it all can not be separated from the prayers and support of someone who is very meaningful in his life. Someone who has made him believe in love again. Mother of her son-in-law. Beloved wife.

Rahul picks up his phone on the nightstand and calls Zahra. He really hopes this time the woman's phone can be contacted. He was impatient to tell me the success of this operation.

But hope is only hope. Because for the umpteenth time, Zahra's number still could not be contacted.

"Why can't his number be reached? What happened to him?" Said Rahul with a restless feeling.
