The Black Pirates

The Black Pirates
CH. 33 – Kraken

In the middle of the night. Not long after their slumber. Right in the middle of the ocean, a creature approached the island of Butariya.

Along with bubbles that burst from the water, slowly rise to the surface. The bubble burst, making a noise, slowly increasing in number towards the island.

Moving sea water creates fleeting waves hit the ship. The ship was swaying slowly. With a constant swaying that made Tabra wake up from her deep sleep.

He got up from the bed, went out of the room and wondered in his mind why the ship was swaying like a wave, but that night there was no wind at all.

He got out of the boat to find out what he was doing. I don't know, obviously he's curious now. In the darkness of the not so visible night, camouflaged by dimness. Tabra saw there was a big lump in the ocean and it was quite confusing.

Tabra seemed to show a curious expression, the lump was so big. Tabra scratched his head, his mouth was yawning as he had just woken up from sleep.

In the surrounding area there is a quiet atmosphere without the wind, leaving the sound of small animals such as crickets, as well as some other animals that make a special sound, squealing in the dimness.

Tabra was still focused on looking at the creature that started to move again, revealing an animal figure, but from what seemed quite terrifying, the figure was large. With tentacles moving fluttering sea water until the movement produces waves, slowly hit the ship.

Tabra was still staring, maximizing the netra to clearly see it. “Aaaah! Ma–makhluuuk what ii–it?!” She screamed in fear, stammering. With high volume radiating around the place.

Screeches that make some of the crew wake up. They were quite confused, not knowing the reason a child was strangling. Inside the ship's cabin, the voice was clearly heard coming from outside the ship.

They wonder in each other's minds. Then they got off the ship. There was a little boy who was hinting straight at the sea.

They all stared in screaming. A combination of high voices gushed around again, the screams that woke Akma Jaya, Aisha, and Altha.

Tabra along with some of the crew moved quickly, running towards the house. They all went away from the ship. The animals they saw looked huge, even terrifying.

Altha woke up hearing their screams. He came out of his house, staring at those who were huddling at each other, He came over wanting to ask. Altha walked up close, looking at each other for a moment, questioning the reason they were huddling. One of them immediately hinted towards the sea without explaining the reason.

Altha stared at the point. He was astonished, watching for himself a creature called Kraken that had been talked about by many people. He also swallowed a tense mouth. That was the reason they all rebelled, even Tabra cried out in fear.

Akma Jaya was beside Tabra quite staring at him strongly. He was preparing to draw a sword. Aisha was frightened, trembling her face in the palm of the hand.

Altha again gulped, only this first time she witnessed the Kraken figure she knew through rumors.

Rumors were circulating among the pirates, at that time Altha listened to them talk to each other about the figure of the Kraken. No matter how strong you are, the Kraken will devour the ship once it eats.

That is how the news was heard by him. The words that ring clearly in the mind, catapult the net to the blind witness' end, unseen by light.

Nevertheless, the figure of Kraken is still a mystery among pirates who have not been solved until now, even some people who heard the news about Kraken, bobbing heads— do not believe.

In the past, including Altha who did not believe it, but in the night that now he stared silently, watching clearly a figure that was like breaking down his building of distrust, building a new building that stood upright, and standing, believe and be surprised. Those two words stuck a foundation in his mind.

The Kraken figure turned out to be really real, he was clearly emblazoned in the view of Altha, as well as others. A large creature had a tentacle the size of their ship.

Altha. Assuming that he was dreaming, it was not, it was definitely not a dream. The ship crew is worried. Tabra moreover, was more anxious trembling in fear beside Akma Jaya.

Altha approached a frightened child nearby. “Tabra, calm yourself down, he's just a sea creature, he can't go up to land. All of you too, he can't climb to the mainland.” He said it out loud with the intention to appease the crew, as well as the three children he was looking at.

Meanwhile, the crew still looked dumbfounded staring at the figure before them. Kraken looks like an octopus, but its size far exceeds that of an octopus in general, the whole body, the head of the Kraken is in the sea.

What was seen in the view, was only the tentacle that did not stand still, the tentacle that kept moving. The waves hit the coast. Akma Jaya stared silently waiting.

“Altha, what creature is it exactly?” ask one of the crew. He exclaimed worriedly, he did not want to be eaten by the kraken. His temples were covered in sweat, his hands stiffly moving. Geez, this is the first time they have witnessed such a huge creature.

Altha stared towards the figure, momentarily looking up. “The creature is called Kraken, a creature that can destroy ships in one go, it eats ships along with whatever is inside.”

“Kraken?!” Tabra was stunned to hear it. His hand held a face, staring fearfully at the Kraken.

Altha nodded. “Iya, Kraken. It is said that there are many ships that have been eaten, some of the news of the pirates mention there are many ships sailing through the island of Butariya, the ship was eaten greedily, there is someone who survived and spread the news.” He explained at length. Altha stroked her white beard at a glance.

“Eh? That news, yes, I know that news. Captain Riyuta once told at length when sailing. He was the one who survived that time, stranded on Sakala's dock, fortunately, his language was understandable to the people there.” One of the crew members said. Altha nodded, Akma Jaya gulped, also Tabra shook her head, Aisha clasped her hands behind them.

“But, the news is that very few people believe in the existence of this creature called Kraken. Stained with a larger size, also people say it is impossible, but again, many pirates who hurt him, do not even dare to go to this place.” Altha replied, connecting the explanation that had previously stopped.

“One thing. The three of you should get used to living side by side with the creature, as rumors circulate every night, the creature will come to this island. I did not expect that the rumor was not just a rumor, but I now see it myself.”

“The three of you should know again, this creature that is in front of you, that is the reason I brought you out of the Sakala pier to this island.”

What Altha had explained, everything according to her knowledge, from the complicated explanation seemed to make the three of them dumbfounded, Aisha breathed in fear, she regulated breathing.

Now, the atmosphere enveloped them with a sense of tension, the creature could have devoured them. The distance of the range from where they are is quite close to the distance that can be viewed blindly.

“Altha, you deliberately wanted to kill us. You don't think on this island there's a vicious creature. Could have climbed to the mainland, then ate our bodies.” Tabra started the rant, saying something she thought was emitting a hidden feeling within her, a simple contradictory sentence form.

“Look, I will also stay on this island, the plan is tomorrow I will go to Taiya City to bring someone to you and that person will train you, as for about this creature, as for, it is enough that he will not disturb or hurt you. Provided you do not disturb the creature.” Altha explained seriously. In addition, she tried to calm Tabra who looked panicked by what she saw.

Akma Jaya nodded, looking seriously at Altha. “Alright, I'll try to approach him and disturb him!” Akma Jaya seems to want to show her courage.

Altha clucked in annoyance, Akma Jaya seemed to challenge what she was forbidden, while Tabra frowned, not understanding the mindset of her best friend.

“Akma, are you kidding?” Tabra showed a panicked expression. He patted both cheeks of Akma Jaya.

“I just want to prove the words of Altha and guarantee our safety on this island, will the creature really attack us to land or will it only attack us in the ocean? Tabra, we are strong, not just strength, but togetherness.” Akma Jaya explained. The soul of youth seems to be turbulent strong, maybe that's what makes him believe—believe can beat Kraken.

For a moment everything was silent, leaving the whirring of the wind that began to blow, breaking their tension atmosphere, the sound of Akma Jaya coming out along with the whirring of the blowing wind, the atmosphere made Tabra cry out his loud voice.

“Alright, I will support you. Come on, we prove it!” Tabra embraced Akma Jaya's shoulder with her face that seemed to be smiling widely.

Meanwhile, Altha repeatedly paled him. “You two. Don't be rash!” His hands moved following the words.

Tabra removed his embrace from Akma Jaya's shoulder, staring at a physician who was pompous to them. “Altha, you have never seen the ability of our swords. If you see it, I'm sure you'll be flabbergasted.” Tabra was quite confident, her fear had already disappeared.

Hearing Tabra's words, Altha also gritted her teeth, voicing a loud speech. “You two, don't be rash. Kraken is a ferocious creature, it will devour prey with a speed that can not be seen movement, it moves nimbly in the water, although now it is near the beach, still you two, still, don't be rash!” altha continued, saying at length to prevent them by repeating his words.

Akma Jaya did not care, Tabra supported her by her side and agreed. Meanwhile, Altha again let out a sound like thunderous lightning making the crew who heard it appear to swallow.

Akma Jaya tried to understand the mindset of Altha, she weighed in her mind, weighing for the umpteenth time the speech that Altha made. He did not not believe in the power that Akma Jaya had, but merely to prevent anything from happening.

At that time, Akma Jaya believed Altha was a compassionate healer like her mother who did not want her to be hurt.

“Alright, Altha. I will obey what you say.” After a long thought of Altha's words, Akma Jaya agreed with her grandeur.

Hearing his best friend's reply, Tabra exhaled a disappointed breath.

“Akma, didn't you attack him? You just listened to Altha's words. Hey, think again.” Tabra let out a slightly disappointed, lethargic voice and seemed to have his spirit. The crew stared in surprise, they all gave words as they stroked his back.

Akma Jaya smiled. “Tabra, try to see the creature, as long as we don't bother him, he doesn't attack. It will stay there.” He explained, pointing towards the Kraken. Tabra was silent, she was disappointed.

“Already night. If you're afraid of sleeping on the ship, sleep in my house.” Akma Jaya invites, patting his best friend's shoulder.

Tabra had no other choice. He nodded in agreement. They also continued walking towards home. Each is the same. That night, the sleepiness could no longer be contained.

In the mind of Tabra's mind is still struggling clearly, also imprinting about something that makes him uncomfortable. They were still walking slowly, not looking back, straight ahead.

Tabra looked away, looking seriously at the person walking beside her.

“Hei, Akma. What say?”

“How is it?”

“Do you think the same as me?

“How same?”

“The creature could have devoured the ship, then it would have attacked us all.” Tabra said the allegations belonged to him.

Akma Jaya laughed. “Liet alone, he will not devour our ship, if viewed more carefully like every night, he will sleep near the beach with his head stuck into the sea.”

Altha heard their words. And calling for a voice. “As long as you don't bother him, he won't attack.” He's still walking. The crew is the same. They walk in tandem.

Akma Jaya hinted at the form of a sentence to believe Altha, she did not say much. Tabra exhaled a brazen breath, she could not dwell more on finding the material to answer.

They all ignored the existence of the Kraken, even though the distance was close to them.

For a reason that enters their minds, as long as the creature is not disturbed, it will remain there and will not attack them.

That's what Altha's speech that Akma Jaya thought about more deeply, she knew just where the limits were, not in the concept of pride or a person who lacked insight refuted the warnings.
