Chapter 99

David invites Thalia to return to his office. He had to hand over the evidence Thalia had found to be tested by the forensic lab. 

Thalia waited for David in her room. David's room is separate from the others and to go in and out of the room can only use fingerprints that have been registered in the system.

CCTV installed in David's room makes all activities monitored clearly. Thalia opens her phone, helping David forget Erick.

"Busy huh?" ask Thalia.

"No, what are you doing?"

"Have you eaten yet?"

"Udah, you?"

"Not yet."

"Eat the next time you get sick."

Thalia just smiled at Erick's message. The small attention from her was enough to make Thalia's heart happy. He never asked for more even though he really wanted Erick. Thalia was aware of her position.

"I Miss you .." Thalia typed a message for Erick.

A message about his deep feelings. Thalia missed a figure she could never reach. He opened his photo gallery, that's the only cure for Thalia. Heavy but this is his choice.

David goes back into his room, he brings some files of investigation related to serial murder.

"Sorry for long? I have to check something first."

"Oh, what's wrong?" Thalia glanced at her watch already almost 4pm.

"Is it still long? I haven't told Sean that it's too late." asked Thalia.

"Sean? A boyfriend?"

Thalia laughed, "My twins."

"Oh, I thought your boyfriend. Maybe a little long, night maybe?" David was relieved, he had noticed Thalia through CCTV when Thalia sent a message with Erick.

"Eh, night? But …"

"We hunt with time, lest there be a sixth victim." David tried to hold Thalia by his side longer. 

Thalia thought for a moment, "Ok, tomorrow's Saturday I'm also off. But, you have to pay me for this!"  (You have to pay me more for this.)

"Sure, nothing is free right?" (Of course, nothing is free, right?)

Thalia smiled as well as David who managed to make Thalia longer with him. At least today he was satisfied looking at Thalia's pretty face.

"So what do I need to see?"

David was still engrossed in looking at Thalia's face, which remained pretty in her eyes despite only being polished with thin makeup. 

"David .." Thalia called his name but David did not budge. David's mind fantasizes with Thalia.

"Eh, yes ... sorry I, ehm ... forget that?!" David stuttered.

" …" 

Why him, is there something wrong with me? 

"This is the result of our investigation from several witnesses. Let's see if there's anything odd about their statement." David handed over a stack of papers from the investigation he and his team.

"What the hell, this much? It's gonna take all night! Gosh, it makes me crazy?!" Thalia massaged her head that wasn't even itchy.

"It's hard?!"

"Is there no video footage? Or something I can see? If only from paper sometimes I can't see. My ability is limited."

"So, I told people to take it. Are you sure you can see from that video?!"

"A person's expression is more readable than visual, I can immediately know who is lying, who is telling the truth, hiding something or really knows nothing."

"OK."

David asks his men to bring a video of the witness through the intercom, while Thalia studies the interview in writing.

One by one Thalia read and examined every word written. He could only fumble. And found one gaffe from the testimony of one of the witnesses.

This ... his statement is strangely contradictory, on the one hand he agreed but on the other hand he was too .. wait, this name seems familiar ..., Thalia began to worry.

"David, can I see the video now?" 

"In the meantime, get us here again. Is there anything you suspect?"

"Ehm, maybe .. I want to be sure."

Thalia went back to reading and sorting out which ones should get more attention which ones did not. David also noticed Thalia, his heart also pounding not because of her case but because of Thalia.

Someone came in with a video of the footage Thalia needed. David opens it and starts turning it around for Thalia.

"Can you turn a witness in this name?" pinta Thalia's.

David frowned, there were questions to be asked but he said no. Shortly thereafter, David spun witness testimony with the name Thalia meant.

Thalia watched closely, she really hoped that what she thought was wrong. Thalia recognized the witness, she had contact with him. And he was really shocked after seeing the video footage.

Oh my God .. It seems that what I fear is true.
