The Against All Odds

CH 5 - Tough Officer

Amidst the tremors and uncertainty of the earthquake, Alisha took a moment to ask, "Leo, can you tell me a little about your older sister?"

Leo looked far away, like he was trying to remember a long-buried memory. "My brother... Elara, she is a figure who is always present when I need her. His long hair was always neatly unraveled, his face was always smiling to everyone, and he also often lost his glasses in important moments." Leo could not help but smile on his face.

Alisha smiled, imagining how cute the habits of Leo's older sister were. "How are you related to him? Do you always spend time together?"

Leo smiled longingly. "We have an irreplaceable bond. When my father got sick, he always took care of me. Our mother had been separated from my father for a long time, so my sister took on the role of mother and brother at once."

Alisha nodded her head understandingly. "Hearing it just makes me feel amazed." Alisha was silent for a moment, then asked again. "Yes... That..what about his embrace?" Alisha throws a sweet smile.

Leo took a deep breath, his eyes radiating the warmth of the brother's embrace. "His embrace, Alisha. It's always my place back when the world feels heavy."

However, in moments that should be emotionally tactile, their gaze is drawn in another direction. The elevator shook again as if an alarm had sounded, reminding them of the reality. The creepy monsters crawling the roof of the elevator gloriously moved to the door, grinning viciously with all three mouths.

Leo and Alisha greeted the monsters with a casual attitude. As if they were ready to face their inevitable destiny, they stared at the threat with fearless gazes.

Leo looked at Alisha with eyes full of confidence. "Alisha, this may be our last fight."

Alisha nodded. "If that were the case, we still wouldn't just give up, Leo. We'll fight to the end."

Meanwhile, Leo felt the weight of his gun getting lighter. He pulled the magazine of his pistol bullet, finding that there were only eight bullets left. He knew he had to use it wisely, especially with his condition being injured from the blow earlier, it was impossible for him to be able to fight those monsters head-on.

Alisha, with a firm but feminine movement, takes off her police jacket. He felt that the time for doubt had passed, and he had to prepare to fight with everything he had. His police jacket fell off his shoulder, revealing the white shirt he was wearing. His slim and athletic body was clearly visible with that shirt.

Without hesitation, Alisha tore off a piece of cloth from her jacket that had been removed. Carefully, he wrapped the sharp shards of glass with the cloth, creating an effective simple weapon. The glass he chose had sharp and deadly edges, just like the one he had used to kill the three-mouth monster. Now Alisha is ready to use it with her trained skills.

Leo looked at Alisha, his expression filled with determination. "Alisha, are you ready?"

Alisha nodded, strengthening her trembling hands as she held the shards of glass wrapped in cloth. He knew this was probably the last moment, and he didn't want to see Leo get hurt.

The black monsters got closer and closer, and in an instant, the fight began. Leo triggered his first shot, one monster fell down with black blood spurting onto the floor. Alisha, with her nimble, launched herself towards another monster with sharp shards of glass. The monster roared in pain as the glass tore through its body.

However, many monsters started to damage the walls and widen their entry into the elevator, the number of monsters was too much, and they kept coming. Leo and Alisha continued to fight, defending themselves with all their might. Despite the diminishing bullets, Leo always shoots on target, and Alisha dodges the monster's attacks with her shrewd martial arts.

However, in a dramatic moment, one of the monsters jumps towards Leo with his terrible long hand. Alisha sees the danger and without hesitation, she slides forward, protecting Leo. He swung the broken glass with determination, causing the monster to scream in pain. But when Alisha protects Leo, another monster grabs Alisha's leg from below and another jumps from behind until she stabs Alisha with her long, sharp hand. Alisha moaned in pain, her blood flowing to the elevator floor.

Leo saw that Alisha was seriously injured, her eyes were emitting anger. "Alisha!"

Alisha smiled weakly, her hands still tightly holding onto the broken glass she had sacrificed to protect Leo. "Thank you... Leo's." However, the smile immediately faded as his body collapsed onto the elevator floor.

Leo felt the intent of vengeance burning within him. He immediately shot the monster that had injured Alisha. However, as he tried to save Alisha, the other monsters continued to attack. Fierce fighting continued its surge, accompanied by dripping blood and deteriorating injuries.

"Bastard monster!" leo exclaimed in a furious tone full of dissatisfaction.

Leo felt as if he was lost in the dark of his eyes. With the bullets depleted and his anger mounting, he threw his empty gun in frustration at them. In the darkness of the shaking elevator, he continued to beat the monsters mercilessly, even though the monsters seemed unharmed.

For a moment, Leo felt despair, but his determination made him continue his attacks. He struggled with everything he had, his fists hitting the monsters trying to enter. The narrow elevator room is very difficult for him to avoid, not infrequently his body was slashed by the sharp nails of the monsters. On the other hand he had to be careful not to step on Alisha who was lying next to him. Leo is also unsure as to whether his partner is still holding on or not.
