The Against All Odds

The Against All Odds
CH 28 - Too Easy

The Mowldark, a group of monsters that reached twenty individuals, faced off against the villagers who were almost double the number of them. Fighting a monster as big as a Mowldark is certainly not an easy matter like driving away a group of goblins whose height is only as high as a small child. Mowldark has an appearance that resembles an adult human with a height of up to two meters. The long claws they had were very sharp, plus their agile and agile movements certainly made the resistance of the villagers even more difficult. It is important to remember that these villagers, though feisty, were not trained warriors who were adept at the art of war. Even ten warriors would probably not be enough to deal with a single Mowldark.

However, with the presence of Leo and his group, it makes things feel so easy.

Leo and his group move agilely, taking over the most dangerous part of the fight. Leo dodged each attack with a nimble movement, his sword moving like lightning cutting through the group of monsters before him.

The mowldark that had once seemed very powerful, was now starting to be desperate. Even some of them have been seriously injured or even fallen.

Leo advanced confidently, his pace steady and fast. There were only four monsters left in front of him, and he would not let them get away with it. In the sparkling moonlight, his robe seemed to flutter, adding a dazzling impression in each of his movements.

His sword moved at lightning speed, producing flashes of light in the air. He shocked the first monster by slashing the creature's legs. The monster staggered, in a half-collapsed position, making it easier for Leo to quickly slash his head and end his suffering.

The second monster approached with its threatening sharp claws. However, with quick reflexes, Leo responds. He lowered his head, feeling the attack pass over his head. In the blink of an eye, the claw only tore through the empty air.

The hood of his black robe was exposed by the gusts of wind from the rapid movement of the claw. In the moonlight that graced the sky, Leo launched a counterattack. His sword, which had become his loyal friend in this fight, swung swiftly. That sword eye produced a flash of light that cut through the darkness of the night.

The sword met its target with full force, smashing into the waist of the monster. It sounded like the sound of the wind blowing fiercely as the sword pierced through the monster's flesh, slicing through the muscle and bone tissue with ease. The monster split into two halves horizontally, and its black blood flowed extremely profusely. His once fearsome long arms, now drooping without energy.

The upper body of the monster fell backwards with a thumping sound that shook the ground. The monstrous monster face left three gaping mouths, with a long, disgusting tongue sticking out of its mouth. Soon, the monster's lower body fell down, creating a black streak on the ground.

Leo stood staring at the monster before him. Sweat drenched his face, and his breathing began to feel heavy, but he would not give up so easily. Leo stood upright, his legs spread out parallel, placing himself in a firm and stable stance. Both of his hands held the sword tightly, then raised it to chest level.

However, amidst that tension, there was a noise from behind. Leo immediately turned around, looking for the source of the voice. It turned out, Mr. Balfam, the muscular grandfather, was jumping from behind him excitedly. He carried two short axes in hand and shrewdly slashed the head of one of the monsters mercilessly while shouting, "Summer Slam!!" Up to two monsters at once fell in front of him.

Not to be outdone, Matilda suddenly appeared and lunged at the remaining monsters with her claws adorned with an aura of darkness. While continuing to shout, "Kill! Kill it! Kill it!" The monster was torn into small pieces, ending their threat.

After all the Mowldarks had been defeated, the atmosphere in the village changed drastically. Shouts of joy echoed in the streets of the village plantation. The entire village cheered cheerfully, taking their weapons up into the air as a sign of victory. Mr. Balfam laughed out loud, looking overjoyed as he embraced Leo with pride. Villagers flocked to Leo, crowding him with heartfelt thanks.

Of course, Leo was the center of attention, as he had killed most of the Mowldarks that had attacked this village. Out of the 20 monsters, he had managed to defeat 14 of them, and this achievement was worthy of recognition by everyone in the village. Mr. Balfam, with sparkling eyes, gave Leo praise and thanks for his courage.

However, it is not only Leo who gets the award. Matilda, with her blood-crazed smile, was also approached by some villagers who thanked her for helping against the threat of the Mowldark. Belladona and Alisha also received much praise, as they have also contributed greatly to the defense of the village.

Leo felt that something was wrong in the middle of this crowd. Under the cheers of victory and a feeling of relief, he sensed that the Mowldark should not be this weak. His memory brings back a picture of how ruthless the monster was in the Sky Hotel, how they slaughtered his best friend mercilessly. And so did Alisha, who would probably die if she didn't get help from Belladona.

He turned his gaze towards the tower in the distance, and there, he saw Belladona who seemed to have the same thought as him. They exchanged glances, not needing words to realize the oddity they were thinking about.

Leo then joined Belladona, and in a quiet whisper, he began to speak. "It's too easy, there's no way Mowldark is this weak. Like something's wrong."

Belladona looked at him seriously, nodding in agreement. "Yes, Leo. This is unnatural, the Mowldark should be stronger than this. We need to find out what's really going on behind this attack."

Leo realizes that they must remain vigilant, even in the midst of this happiness. Something bigger may be happening, and they have to find the answer before it's too late.
