The Against All Odds

The Against All Odds
CH 46 - An Effort

The zombies were getting closer and closer, their steps were so slow, almost every movement of theirs looked stiff. The faces of the zombies looked terrible. Their skin was rotting, covered with a layer of dust and dirt. Some of them had severe wounds on their faces, with exposed and hanging flesh. Their empty eyes only showed thirst and a desire to bite into fresh meat. Some zombies even had hands that were almost released, hanging only by a single muscle that was about to break.

Leo asked the stocky Penguin who had joined him, "Cat, is Lucas not going to suspect us? I just killed nearly a hundred zombies in front of them."

"Lucas is indeed a person to watch out for, but do not forget the big man over there." Cats always sound like giant monsters, very different when they meet in Leo's memory.

Leo glanced at Stam who was also watching him. "You mean the guy in the hat with those round glasses?"

"True, that donut-wearing guy is also dangerous, I can feel it."

"What about the people sitting on the stands?"

"The gun you fought, Banshee. The innocent-looking little girl, and the tall man with the mask, they were the top-ranking Hellanders, all worth watching."

"Where do you know all that?"

"Have it, don't ask too many questions. You clean up some of those zombies first."

Leo agreed.

With a quick and nimble movement, he started stabbing the bodies of those zombies with his sword, slitting and beheading them. Leo's hand moved with great skill and speed, so his sword moves were able to split apart the zombie flesh with ease.

Although the fight was fierce, Leo was able to defend well. His strength just given by the Cat makes him better prepared to face the dangers that appear in front of him. He could see the movements of the zombies clearly and anticipate each of his attacks in a timely manner.

The zombies kept coming, but Leo did not feel bothered by it. His sword continued to move swiftly, slashing and finishing off the zombie horde with ease. Even though the zombies were trying to launch consecutive attacks, he still managed to dodge each of their attacks easily.

His battle was so intense that he was flooded with cold sweat. He then took a deep breath, gathering his new strength to fight even harder. He stood up straight again, holding his sword firmly.

"My excessive thoughts make me tired faster. Zombies aren't the main problem, but I always thought they'd find out about us, sooner or later."

"Are you thinking of something, Leo?" Ask the Cat, who realized Leo was starting to stop attacking.

"Loh, you can't read my mind anymore?"

"Now I can't, because our powers are completely unified."

Leo patted his robe that was exposed to dust and dirt. "So yeah, good." Leo smiled faintly.

"But you can't hide something important from me, Leo!" Screeches Cats.

Leo nodded and threw a confident smile. "I'll finish off a few more zombies before I drop my sword and let them eat me." Staring intently at the threatening zombie line.

"Oi... oi... You've mastered the pain-transfer technique, huh?"

Leo started attacking the zombies with quick and sharp movements, his sword piercing the flesh of the zombies before then splitting them in half. He pretended to be overwhelmed and fell down several times, while still trying to fight the zombies with great difficulty.

"Now is the time, Leo!" Excited Cat.

Leo swung his sword at high speed towards the zombies. But unfortunately, his sword instead precisely hit the zombie armor and was thrown far back. Leo rushed to grab his sword, but suddenly his legs were held firmly by one of the zombies lying on the ground.

Leo felt down and could not move at this moment. This is a great opportunity to pretend to be dead. He leaned on the ground, preparing to pretend to scream in panic, as if he were in a precarious state.

"Aghhhh!! Help ...! I'm not married!"

The zombies began to surround him soon after. They charge towards Leo from all directions, moving quickly to find prey. Leo continued to pretend to scream in panic, his eyes closed tightly and cold sweat drenched his body.

But the opposite happened, the zombies just suddenly stopped and began to leave slowly.

"Why, why did they leave me?" muttered Leo astonished.

He sees Lucas in the distance, who seems to be organizing everything. Leo feels his plan to feign death and outwit Lucas has failed.

Lucas got up from his seat, then jumped, and landed on the Colosseum field. He walked up to Leo, passing through a line of zombies that had absolutely no intention of attacking him.

"You're an amateur, Leo Demhian. I know what you're trying to do, but trust me, all your tricks are legible."

The cat tried to calm Leo down, "Don't think too much about it, Leo. Lucas is very strong and experienced, I can feel it. You have to be careful."

"Yes, but how can he know everything?" leo asked, still frustrated.

"Possibly, he has Nythorian powers like the ones we have," the Cat replied as she explained. "He can control other people's minds, including those zombies."

"Don't he just do illusion magic on you." Its effects.

Leo fell silent, remembering the moment Lucas cut him down mercilessly, even though it was only in his mind, but everything felt so real.

"Cat, what if we change our original plan? I'll face them all immediately." Leo asked with a serious look.

The cat simply replied casually, "Close to you, Leo. But don't forget, we don't know where the Hellanders' powers are. Don't take too much risk."

"I understand."

Leo grinned at Lucas, who was also seen welcoming Leo's evil smile as a declaration of war.
