Working hours are not over yet but today Brian so wants to go home quickly even though the time is still showing at three in the afternoon. Somehow his spirit was so burning when the wife asked him to bring her spicy fruit and young coconut ice when he came home from work. His eyes sparkled with delight as he imagined the good news that he would soon hear.
My wife must be pregnant, and she's definitely cravings right now. The mind in the heart.
Somehow this sense of happiness was so strong and filled his head. He didn't have time to think about anything else all day.
"Darling, I'm coming!" Brian's crisp voice echoed in the room room as the man just opened the door. Silent. Brian stepped in with a gaze circling the entire room. "Darling! I came home quickly just for you, loh," he repeated while still not heard the voice of the wife's voice.
"Where is he?" Brian muttered in wonder.
Stepping towards the clothing room, the man who started to look restless immediately took off his expensive suit. Putting it in a basket of dirty clothes well, he then stepped out while his hands moved to fold the arm of his shirt to the bottom of the elbow.
Feelings of anxiety and worry began to hit his mind. He deliberately did not tell his return to the house to give his wife a surprise. But he looks disappointed when he did not find the whereabouts of the wife.
Mayang whose body appeared to be ringing with zumba clothes attached to his body immediately ran after getting a report from a servant that the husband had arrived.
The sound of footsteps with sneakers was clearly heard in Brian's ears before the wife finally emerged from the door in the family room. The girl stopped her steps with a breath of breath.
Brian, who was sitting across his legs while playing his phone, immediately turned to the door.
"You just ran around?" Putting his phone on the table, the man got up and looked at the wife in astonishment.
Slowly the woman with her hair tied up like a ponytail stepped closer to Brian. "I'm sorry that I didn't welcome you, dear" she said, looking at her husband with a regretful look on her face.
"What's wrong, honey, but wouldn't it be better if you walked slowly?" Brian said softly while grabbing the wife's fingers. There was a trace of anxiety implied in his eyes when he faced the wife.
Sighing in relief, Mayang smiled as Brian looked so worried. "More times I'll walk slowly and carefully, honey. I promise." Mayang spoke with conviction.
Brian did not speak to his wife. He actually seemed to pay attention to the appearance of the wife from the tip of the foot to the tip of the head. "You seem to be sweating once," Brian rubbed the sweat on Mayang's temple gently. "What did you just do?"
"Oh I've just been exercising, honey, zumba. I invited some servants to accompany me. It's okay, right?"
"Zumba?!"
"Yes dear, zumba. Some kind of gymnastics or aerobics. Like this." Mayang demonstrated several zumba movements in front of her husband.
"Why should zumba love ...!" Brian shouted in frustration while rubbing his temple rough. "You shouldn't move much ...,"
"Darling why worry so? I'm just a zumba and your worries are so overrated as if I were" Mayang stopped saying. Looking at Brian was like an investigation. "Honey, I understand the direction you're talking." He looked when he was able to understand Brian's intentions.
"What Honey?"
"You must have smelled me-" Mayang hung up his words, and bit his lower lip. Then with teary eyes the girl shook her head. "Sorry to disappoint you, dear. But there's no fruit of our love in here yet." Mayang lowered his head when rubbing his stomach which was still flat. I don't know why he couldn't hold the colorless clear hairs dripping from his eye pellets.
Brian quickly grabbed the wife's body and held it very tightly. Millions of regrets seemed to fill his chest cavity. If only he had not hastily concluded himself if the wife was pregnant then the cry of the wife would not have occurred.
"Dear, I'm sorry I made you sad. I was so excited when this month you didn't have your monthly guest, honey, that I foolishly concluded that you might be pregnant." Brian chuckled softly as if he was laughing at himself.
"I've done a test on my urine, but it's still negative." Mayang's words paused as the girl sobbed. "I'm sorry, honey, I let you down."
"No dear, I'm not disappointed. Please don't say that again." I don't know why Brian's chest feels so tight when he is overwhelmed with guilt. His excessive worrying attitude turned out to cause misunderstanding, to make his wife tear when hope was not in accordance with reality.
Brian cupped his wife's face to make the wife lift her eyes. Two pairs of irises with sad twists were clashing against each other. "You're mad at me?" Ogre Brian by enduring the guilt-riddled.
Can't say Mayang could only shake his head as his sobs rang out again. The girl again bowed down to hide the circle of tears that slid so freely.
Kissing the wife's forehead for a long time, Brian re-clutched the body of the wife full of love. Buried the girl's face back into her chest. Although he could not remove the wound, but he did not want the wife to suffer inwardly because of his actions.
"Darling," call Brian softly. "I promise that from today I won't be discussing pregnancy again. Our marriage was only corn, but the fool thought his wife was pregnant. Forgive your stupid husband, dear."
* * *
"It's neat." With a smile, Mayang gently rubbed Brian's shoulder after placing a tie on her husband. A routine activity he did when the husband packed before leaving for the office.
"Thank you dear," said Brian immediately softly. With a smile adorning his handsome face, the man did not blink as he looked at the wife guiltily.
"We're down now? Maybe Secretary Billy's here."
Nodding softly, Brian grabbed Mayang's fingers and grasped them tightly. "Come on." Invite him while hinting that they go hand in hand. A gentle kiss was given on the back of the wife's hand as the two stepped towards the dining room on the ground floor.
"Please sir, Madam, breakfast is ready." Bu Kuswara welcomed the moment the two appeared in the dining room.
"Thank you, Miss Kuswara." Mayang replied with a warm smile as usual. With deft hands Mayang also moved to get his own breakfast menu for the husband.
"Thank you, darling."
"Spend yes," Mayang said with a tone of command as he sat in his chair. "Mom Kus, has Secretary Billy come?" Mayang threw a glance at the middle-aged woman standing beside him.
"Have Madam, he was preparing a car for Mister."
"Goodoo. Thank you, Ma'am Kus," he said as the butler filled his dinner plate and the platter was still empty.
"You should also have breakfast Madam," Kuswara said with a demanding tone but still upholding his decency.
For a while the atmosphere in the dining room was still. Only the sound of spoons and plates clashing.
Many times Mayang glanced at the husband who was focusing on his breakfast. Seeing the husband who looks so fresh and looks so cheerful makes him so want to ask something that he has been trying to dim.
"Honey," called Mayang softly with a tone of voice that sounded stiff.
"Heumm?" Brian lifted his gaze and looked questioningly at the wife.
"May I ask?"
"Ask me, darling." Glancing at his wife.
"Promise you won't get angry?" Mayang asked for firmness.
"Dear, I promise. Now ask me." Brian stared fixedly at his wife to make sure that he was ready to answer all the questions.
"Honey," Mayang began to open his voice to ask. "Is Alex really your friend or enemy?"
Not an answer that came from Brian's lips. But it was precisely the loud clanking that was heard when Brian deliberately stomped the spoon on his dinner plate.
Mayang knitted his brows, astonished at the husband who suddenly looked so angry at his question.
"I don't want you to mention that name again in front of me, honey." Said Brian in a tone full of anger. The man then threw his face away from the look full of curiosity the wife.
"So you promised not to get angry, right? But why are you angry now?"
"Please stop now, dear. I don't want to debate this anymore." Said Brian in a tone full of warning.
Mayang could only bow down swallowing disappointment. If just bringing up Brian's name was that angry, then how will he tell his heartbreak at this time.
