Secret Alit
The Story of Kak Luni in a Haunted Hotel

One weekend, I, Luni, my mother, papa, and grandmother went for a walk to a tourist area close to the city where I live. We decided to stay at the hotel from Friday afternoon to Sunday because mom and dad were on leave. After returning from school, Kak Luni and I immediately went there with my mother, father, and grandmother by driving a car.

At about half-hour and seven nights, we arrived at a 3-star hotel. From the entrance of the car, I saw the building which was quite luxurious. We headed straight to the reception to do the administration and pick up the keys. After that, we were escorted by a bell boy to the room.

From the reception room, we passed a fairly large restaurant. From the restaurant, we entered a long hallway with rooms on the left right side. The hallway was dimly lit, illuminated only by a row of yellow lights. I'm a little scared going through this dimly lit alley. Moreover, since this time is not in the holiday period, hotel visitors are very quiet. The atmosphere is comfortable, but also a little gripping. I also tried to shake off my fear, because I would one room with Kak Luni and grandma.

"At least, my room is crowded," I thought.

Our family spent the night on the first floor. Papa reserved two adjoining rooms, one for papa and mama, another for me, Luni sister, and grandmother. Grandma slept with Kak Luni on one big bed, while I would sleep on an extra bed.

I looked around the room. The area is approximately 20 square meters: there is a bathroom, a table, two chairs, and there is also a 41-inch TV.

This room with the bed and bathroom looks very clean. From my room, there is also a beautiful view of the green hills.

"Mudah2an I can sleep soundly without any interference," I thought.

After cleaning the suitcase and taking a shower, we prepared for dinner at the hotel restaurant. Again, I had to go through that dimly lit alley. Apparently, the inside of the restaurant was also a bit dark. All lights that are installed look to have a low wattage.

"Resto is so dark, Ma. Tomorrow night we eat out, yes" I said, whispering to my mother.

My mother answered me with a smile and nodded. After that, we ate dinner and immediately went back to the room to rest.

Arriving at the room, a bell boy approached us and asked permission to enter the extra bed that had been ordered by papa. We then went into each other's rooms. But, I left the room door open, so that the hotel clerk could easily insert the mattress.

I did deliberately choose to sleep on an extra mattress, so that Kak Luni would not envy me if I was one mattress with grandma. When my bed came, I directed the bell boy to put it by the window. After that, I, Brother Luni, and Grandma chatted on the bed. We talked about the dark conditions of the restaurant, but we were lucky because the food was all good.

At about 21:00, we were getting ready for bed. I turned off all the lights, except for the bathroom so there was still light left. The atmosphere became comfortable, and I fell asleep shortly afterwards.

I don't know how long I slept, I suddenly woke up hearing a moaning. I sat on my bed and put my ears together to find the source of the sound. It turned out, that groaning voice came from Kak Luni. He looked like he was freeing himself from something holding him back.

It seems like Kak Luni is 'overlapping', but I don't see any creatures bothering her. Not long after, I saw a flurry of white smoke rising towards the ceiling of the room. Grandma woke up to Kak Luni's moans and sat on her bed. I approached my grandmother, but she signalled that I would not be noisy by placing an index finger on her lips.

I'm silent. The mood is getting worse. I kept watching Brother Luni. Over time, his moans began to subside and then his body looked calm in a supine position.

I immediately obeyed Grandma and took a glass of water for Kak Luni. In the light, Kak Luni began to open her eyes and sit on the bed.

"Sister Luni had a nightmare?" My toot.

Brother Luni was silent for a moment, remembering the incident that just happened. Then, he drank the water that I served.

"That was a real thing, Alit. I'm not dreaming. I'm almost out of energy and breath, it feels like I'm overstimulating my body" said Kak Luni. "My mouth and nose are smothered, really good. But I don't see her figure."

Kak Luni told me about the event of grief that she experienced with a trembling voice. Grandma hugged Luni and stroked her hair.

Grandma always treated me and Kak Luni like children. When we were scared, Grandma always made us feel safe.

"Now it's 3 in the morning. Come to sleep again so that tomorrow can immediately go for a walk," said grandma.

I went back to bed without turning off the lights. That night, we accidentally slept with the lights on. Kak Luni also tried to go back to sleep with a slanted position facing grandma to feel calmer.

Inwardly, I still wonder, did granny see the figure bothering Kak Luni? Unlike usual, I didn't see anything. The subtle creature was like hiding and did not appear to exist. I kept the curiosity to keep Kak Luni's feelings from getting scared. Actually, I'd love to have a long chat with grandma about this.

The next day, we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Although there was an unpleasant incident the night before, we were slightly treated by the food at this restaurant with a menu dish and the flavor that tasted good on the tongue. The menu is also quite varied. This morning, we were all tempted by a porridge dish, with a separate gravy served using a small bowl.

Service is pretty good too. Although you can make your own food, there are still some people at the restaurant who kindly serve guests. Me and Luni Brother took a cup of coffee. We're still sleepy from last night.

Apparently, mama noticed we were drinking coffee, not as usual.

"Cok you guys got coffee? Not sleeping last night?" Ask mama.

Luni lied and explained that we drank coffee just for fun, so that the body feels fresher.

Previously, my grandmother, and Kak Luni had agreed not to tell the incident to papa and mama. We did not want to discuss the events of the night for fear that it would ruin the atmosphere.
