...Waiting but not waiting, surviving but not arrested. Patience has its limits too......
...###...
"Eungh", the cry sounded in the silent room without a sound. The long, plump eyelids slowly lifted. Until the beautiful deep black netra looks perfect.
The faces of two worried women who first entered his sense of sight. Surrounding him until his chest felt tight.
"Bun-", Rea's words came to a halt when her head suddenly just pulsed. Rea's massaging her temples. And tried to sit with the help of Arinta.
"Drink first baby", Arinta thrusts a glass of water to Rea. Which is taken and drunk directly to the toilet.
"Well, okay?", Arinta asked as she put the glass back on the tray held by Bik Mirna beside her.
Rea nodded with her eyes closed. Breathe in and breathe out slowly. After feeling a little more intense, Rea just opened her eyes. Staring at Arinta's face that looked very anxious towards her.
"Are you really nothing?", asked Arinta worriedly.
Rea shook his head weakly.
"Why Mother's grandchild?, you two are not okay?, do we need to see a doctor?", Arinta explained which made Rea smile faintly. Her mother had already entered chatty mode on.
"We're fine" Rea held Arinta's arm. Convince the woman that she is okay.
"The mother does not believe, if you are okay, why can you faint suddenly" added Aritta nagging Rea, "Bik, try to call Levi. Tell him to go home, whatever he does now", said Arinta to Bik Mirna who had been watching silently.
Just a step away the old woman moved, Rea stopped her. And shook his head, hinting to Bik Mirna not to do that.
"Don't, Bun. He must be busy" Rea said.
"For busy what?, take care of the engagement, yes?", Arinta's frustration that had subsided, immediately returned to the surface. Making Rea bow and Bik Mirna instantly retreat regularly.
The atmosphere was silent for a moment.
Arinta sighed, massaged her temple for a while then looked back at her daughter who was bowed silently.
"You don't want to explain anything to Mother, Rea?", asked Arinta.
Rea was silent.
Seeing no response from Rea, Arinta then smiled, "Mother should not ask much. Because when a daughter is married, she will only look at her husband as king, and look at her parents as strangers. What is the meaning of Mother who only gave birth and raised you. Mother is not the one who will accompany you until the end of life. So you do not bother to confide in Mother. You should understand, when you get married that day. You have started a new life and cut ties with people who were in the past" Arinta said at length and full of satire in each sentence.
Hearing that Rea then looked up, seeing her Mother who stared blankly ahead. Rea could see the sadness that was imprinted on the beautiful face of the woman who had given birth to him. And it made Rea feel even more sinful.
Then without cueing, Rea immediately hugged her Mother tightly, "Don't say so Bun", he muttered.
"You don't need Mother anymore, do you, Rea."
Rea shook his head quickly, "Mother is the one I want to see first when I die. The Mother will not be replaced by anything", he said in the arms of the Mother.
"Keep why you-"
"What can I do Bun?, I am ashamed, I feel ashamed to say that my husband will soon be married for the second time. And that's when our marriage was just two months old. We were together for 60 days, and it wasn't full" Rea interrupted and stared incisive forward. Even the seconds they were together, could be counted on the fingers.
Hearing that, Arinta immediately hugged her daughter very tightly. Exclaiming that fragile back that looks so tough.
It turned out that there was such a huge problem that his daughter had already kept alone.
"Why don't you just go home, why do you continue to survive in this hell-like house?, why can you be so patient with babing*n like that?", cerocos Arinta asked non-stop. Yes, why could his daughter have such great patience. Arinta alone does not have that kind of patience. If Arinta was in Rea's position, maybe he had left the house a long time ago. Start his new life with his two children. But Rea, the girl still survives with all the injuries Levi gave her.
"He loves his son, Bun. Even though he was funny to me, but at least he still remembers his son. And because of this child I was able to survive until now", the voice was very slow and soft. If Arinta hadn't put her ear on properly, she might not have heard what Rea was talking about.
"Then why did he say the words of love in front of the whole family. Even he could take the hearts of the old men easily. Until Mother even admitted that she is the right husband for you."
Rea smiled wryly, "That's all she did just for the sake of getting her child."
Then the two remained silent for quite a long time. Before Arinta's voice broke the silence.
"If he loves his son, he will not do this with you" said Arinta who was not responded by Rea at all.
Then Arinta let go of the hug and looked at her daughter's face which looked very lethargic.
"He loves his son, but he wants to leave you?, then make his son to leave him."
Rea slowly frowned. Staring confused Mother who spoke with the wrong corner of the lips lifted. What the woman was planning.
...###...
"Let Mommy carry it", Arinta takes the suitcase from Rea's hands. Pull it downstairs.
Rea is actually confused when Arinta tells him to put all his clothes together into a suitcase. Rea said that he could deal with this problem. And he didn't want to stay at his parents' house.
But Arinta did not budge, Mother instead busy packing all her things into a suitcase.
"Sit down", Arinta tells Rea to sit on the living room sofa. While standing next to the pregnant woman.
Rea according then looked at the confused Arinta. Waiting for instructions what else will be told by her Mother.
"Now call him."
Rea frowned, "He?, who?."
"Bajing-", Arinta sighed as she was about to return. Too many harsh words that are not good for her future grandchildren, "Your husband, call her quickly."
"Why should I call Levi, Bun?", asked Rea, confused.
"Hurry up to the phone, long Mother greget ya Rea same you", grumbled Arinta and picked up Rea's phone located on the table. Shove it to the owner.
Confused, Rea presses Levi's contact number. Staring at her Mother on the first ring.
"Hello?."
Rea called Arinta without a sound.
Then Arinta slightly moved away the phone that was in Rea's hands. Whispering quietly in his daughter's ear.
"Say, if you miscarry."
Rea glared her eyes at the horror of Arinta standing beside her. What kind of crazy idea is that.
"Quick follow what Mother said, if you do not want to be an ungodly child", added Arinta by adding a little threat. Because if it wasn't so, then Rea wouldn't want to do it. Arinta knows this is a little untrue. But Arinta just wants to see how Levi reacts.
Rea took a deep breath before bringing her phone back to her ear.
Again Rea turned towards Arinta. Does he really have to do this?.
But the nod and insistence from Arinta made Rea close her eyes heavy.
"L-levi", Rea called Levi with a stutter that was only followed by a slow mutter.
Arinta pokes Rea's shoulder and tells her daughter to turn on her phone loudspeaker.
Rea obeyed and said with great difficulty.
"Levi", Rea pauses her speech long enough before a coke from Arinta makes Rea resume her saying, "I miscarried."
After saying that, Rea timidly looked at her phone screen that was still on. Shows the boy's name full on his phone screen.
Unlike her expectations, the man remained silent for five minutes. Making Arinta mish-misuh on the spot.
Rea smiled wryly at the screen of her phone, "Now you can be free."
After Rea said that sentence perfectly. Unexpectedly, Levi first turned off the connection unilaterally. Making Arinta who was standing next to Rea reflex swearing quite hard.
"We'll wait for him for a while. If he really loved his son, he would come whatever he was doing right now. But if he doesn't come", Arinta turns to Rea who is staring blankly at the floor.
"I'm going to get out of this house."
Arinta sat down quickly beside Rea. Staring in disbelief at his daughter who just spoke like that.
I don't know what wind has gotten into Rea. So that made him realize so quickly.
"We're always behind you" Arinta hugged Rea's shoulder. Trying to strengthen his beloved daughter.
It did not feel like three hours had passed, and during that time they were both waiting. Waiting for the arrival of someone who is not even sure to come.
Rea took a long breath. Swiping his stomach that felt a little stiffened. Glanced at Arinta who looked bored beside him.
"Corn, Bun", Rea stood up making Arinta smile and stood up.
"With her child she is not really dear" said Arinta made Rea speechless. The girl focused her eyes towards the main door. Again he gave his last hope. Hoping that the door opened and showed Levi with an anxious look on his face.
"She's not coming" added Arinta, stroking her daughter's small shoulder.
Rea nodded slowly, unconsciously her tears slowly. It fell right on the white floor he was on.
His last hope was gone. What else should he wait for?.
When Rea and Arinta were about to step towards the main door. Bik Mirna yelled as she ran in a hurry.
"Bak, where are you going?", asked Bik Mirna after seeing Rea's suitcase held by Arinta.
Rea turned around and smiled faintly. Grabbing the woman's hand and kissing the back of her wrinkled-looking hand.
"Rea pamit Bik" said Rea who sounded vibrating.
"Pamit where is mbak?."
"I want to go home to my parents."
"When do you want to go home?."
Rea was unable to hold back the tears that had been dammed in the eye pelupuk. Staring into the eyes of Bik Mirna who was looking innocently at him.
Then without warning Rea immediately pulled the woman into his arms. When will he come home?. I don't know if Rea has any hope of that.
His heart was too afraid to get hurt again just because of hope.
"Call Rea yes Bik, may Rea's life run smoothly", Rea wiped her tears and let go of the embrace.
Bik Mirna who saw Rea crying also shed her tears, "Happy always yes mbak. Bibic prayer always accompanied the mother and her baby's grandfather", she said, wiping off traces of Rea's tears with her old hands.
Again Rea hugged the vulnerable body and whispered softly, "Jagain Levi ya Bik."
Bik Mirna nodded with a genuine smile.
"We told Bik" Arinta pulled Rea's body. Greet politely to the older woman.
Then without a hitch both of them stepped foot steadily.
Rea stared at every corner of the house before he was completely gone for good. Recording every memory in his brain. Will continue to play the tape while he was sitting in the moonlight alone.
God.., words have run out to ask, now he just wants to thank you. Thank you for giving yourself this short happiness. Thank you for teaching her what is called love. Let him feel in the clouds for a while.
Rea touched his stomach, "Still", he murmured. His thanks were for Levi. Since the guy has given her a new life, a new purpose, at least when Mommy and Papi are old, and Argan is married, Rea still has her son to accompany her days.
