...Chapter 14: A Chance for Chaos...

...[.Opportunity for Chaos]...

...•...

The Hell Realm is ruled by the Seven Sovereigns of Hell, namely Wrath, Greed, Envy, Gluttony, Pride, Lust, Sloth. Accompanying them were the newly known allies of them, Demonic Dragon and Greedy Draconess.

On the other hand, the Seven Sovereigns of Heaven, namely Patience, Charity, Kindness, Temperance, Humility, Chastity, and Diligence, stood as resistance from them. They are joined by Angelic Sylph, their only newly known companion.

Upon learning that Satoruu has become Wrath's new companion by defeating the Demonic Dragon, he approaches the dragon's soul which has been resurrected through dark magic.

This time, he was looking for answers regarding the position of Angelic Sylph. It is revealed that Angelic Sylph was revealed to be the companion of the embodiment of Patience, an opponent of Wrath.

This revelation gave rise to many theories, illustrating the striking contrast between Satoruu and Yuka. They were likened to night and morning, as their magic abilities, Demonical Darkness and Angelical Light, clashed. Overwhelmed by these revelations, Satoruu begins to doubt whether Yuka is the right match for him.

However, Saishira and Claire offered encouraging words. They convince him that despite their stark differences, Satoruu and Yuka can still be together.

Saishira points out that contrast is not always the same as incompatibility, while Claire mentions her own ability to interact with humans even though she is a demon. Although demons are seen as evil and hostile, he suggests that connections can transcend such barriers.

As the morning sun rises, Satoruu is eager to return to Harmodia, the kingdom he once called home after being driven to this alien world. Accompanied by Yuka and Shelina who have become her loyal companions, she begins her journey.

However, upon reaching the entrance gate, their hearts sank upon seeing the broken and scratched iron gate. Its walls also showed deep cracks as if it was exposed to an incredible force.

Panic gripped Satoruu's mind, prompting him to rush towards palace—the royal family's residence—while Yuka and Shelina followed behind.

Along the way, they watched as many houses were destroyed into ruins, some even flattened to the ground. Upon arrival at the palace, they were treated to the sight of the cracked walls. Fortunately, the royal family survived, but the kingdom suffered severe damage.

The royal princess, Clarissa, took on her own responsibility to explain the dire situation. At dawn, as the citizens fell asleep peacefully, monsters emerged from the depths, launching ferocious attacks on the kingdom.

Despite the valiant efforts of Viona, Ryan, and Rayvin to defend their home, the onslaught has left the kingdom in ruin.

Amidst the chaos, a man's angry voice pierced through the air, accusing, "This is the fault of the 'traitor'! These monsters are undoubtedly you! You, the 'monster' who almost killed your own partner!"

"What did he do to get this?! He risked his life to save you all, and then you branded him a 'monster'?!" Yuka's distrust turns to anger as she confronts the man, unable to accept the accusation. "And now you have the courage to claim that he's the mastermind behind those monsters? You lost your mind?"

Observing the scene from a distance, Saishira quickly stepped forward, her sword ready at the man's throat. "I'm tired of hearing the word 'monster' directed at Satoruu. You weren't there to see what really happened. If you want to slander him, you need to have proper direct knowledge."

"I-It ... 'Mysterious Rescuer'?! W-What are you doing?!" The man stuttered, fear gripping his voice.

Saishira's voice remained cold and resolute as he continued to hold the man at the tip of the sword. "I will torture you if I hear the word 'monster' to Satoruu once again."

"I know Satoruu better than you, and I am sure of his sincere kindness. So, never dare to make an accusation against him just because of one mistake he made." Saishira's gaze became ice-cold and merciless as she looked at the man, leaving no room for doubt.

Satoruu stepped forward, his voice calm yet firm. "Take him off, Shira. People like him were quick to point the finger without understanding the full story. They will always assume that someone who makes a mistake will continue to make a mistake. They refused to accept the fact that it was the influence of the Demonical Darkness magic, which controlled my body and caused destruction. Otherwise, they'll continue to think of me as a criminal."

A sneering smile played on Satoruu's lips as he countered the man's accusation, "I'm sure someone seems to be trembling in fear when dealing with a real monster."

"Our goal, after all, is not to fight these creatures solely for their sake, but to save the world. He does not represent the whole of humanity" Satoruu said, stressing the need to address the larger issues at hand. "Most importantly, we should focus on understanding how these monsters appear."

With determination in his eyes, Satoruu led the party to the palace, urging them to gather in the discussion room. They seek answers to this devastating incident, in which monsters emerge from underground, similar to the undead rising from their graves. If they emerge from below the surface, then the ground itself holds the key.

Viona reminded them of the cave they found. At that time, they did not explore the cave any deeper due to Kaminou blocking them and Satoruu being controlled by Demonical Darkness magic.

Then Viona advised them to come back to the cave, maybe they would get something.

Viona's proposal to return to the cave triggered a glimmer of hope. Saishira, gripping the torch tightly, took the lead, continuing forward through the increasingly terrifying and foreboding passage.

Despite growing darker, he remained steadfast and unfazed, guiding their expedition with unwavering determination.

Yuka, a user of light magic, inevitably felt uncomfortable in this cave trip, because the darkness seemed to drain her magic energy.

Finally, they reached the place where they found a strange book, which contained fragmented information about the Demonic Dragon. Despite the destruction of the cave caused by Kaminou, the podium where the book was once placed stands tall, a symbol of endurance.

This scene triggered a painful wave of memories. It was in this cave that Satoruu first fell under the influence of the Demonical Darkness magic. They recalled the time when Kaminou destroyed the cave, defeating the Cave Dragon.

With everyone on the verge of defeat, Satoruu is forced to use Demonical Darkness magic against Kaminou, only to be entangled by his control. Thanks to Yuka's intervention, he had returned to his senses.

Claire, driven by curiosity, researches the podium, hoping to find something important. As she gently blew away the accumulated dust, revealing her neglected state, her investigation led her to check what was underneath.

Satoruu, Yuka, and Shelina ventured into the next room, wanting to hasten their investigation. The room they entered exuded an ancient atmosphere, decorated with intricate carvings that seemed to reflect the essence of this otherworldly realm. Some parts of the walls looked cracked, while others were damaged by dirt and neglect.

Inside this space, Satoruu's gaze fell onto a certain wall without carving, arousing his suspicion that it was hiding more than it seemed.

Determined to uncover the truth, he enlists the help of Yuka and Shelina, equipping themselves with a pickaxe meticulously provided by Viona. Methodically, they erode the walls, gradually eroding the surface.

And then, a different voice echoed in the air.

...KRAKK!!...

Fragile sounds revealed the presence of weathered wooden doors hidden behind the walls. Fragile and worn out, it seemed like a single powerful blow would destroy it completely.

"Uhh, guys. Looks like I found something," Satoruu exclaimed, attracting the attention of their group.

With a sense of anticipation, the group huddled near the open door, pondering over what lay beyond the doorway.

Viona held on to hope, imagining the possibility of treasure awaiting their discovery, while the others remained uncertain, with no clear expectations.

"Okay. Here goes nothing." Satoruu carefully pushed the door open.

As the door swung open, an unexpected challenge awaited Satoruu, causing him to stumble due to the lack of solid ground outside the entrance. Thankfully, Yuka and the others reacted quickly, giving their support to prevent her from falling.

Their collective gazes were fixed on an incredible sight—an underground city. It appears to be abandoned, with houses partially submerged in the ground or in various stages of damage.

The city was emitting a grim aura, with no signs of life. Except for the flickering light coming from the central cave, the city was immersed in darkness. The weeds had wrapped themselves around the cave entrance, creeping towards the neighboring houses.

This unexpected discovery gave them goosebumps. They had no inkling that there was an underground city, although its destruction spoke volumes.

They are aware that this world holds deep secrets, such as the mysterious existence of these 14 Lords of the Hereafter and this hidden underground city. Countless historical truths are buried, hidden in the shadows of the dark side of this world.
