...Chapter 13: The Dark History of Forgotten...
...[.The Forgotten Dark History]...
...•...
"So, the prophecy of the legend actually happened," said an old man amidst the villagers.
As the citizens parted to make way, the old man's face became visible. His white hair framed the face marked with vertical scars on his left eye, while the rest of his eyes peered through the one-eyed glasses. The wrinkles on his face could depict wisdom and experience for more than four decades. His beard looks long.
With elegant steps, the old man exuded an aura of wisdom and authority. He bestows warm smiles to the newcomers, embracing them with a sense of familiarity and anticipation.
"It's nice to see you again, King Alarick," Ryan said warmly.
Ryan and Rayvin respectfully bowed their heads and kneeled, bending their right legs forward and left feet backward, a rare gesture made to pay full respect to the old man in front of them—Alarick, who was not involved in the incident, former ruler. This traditional tribute signified their deep respect for his presence.
"No, no. 'The 'King' is a title given to the leader of the kingdom. You no longer need to call me king, because I have abdicated a long time ago and returned to this humble village" Alarick replied calmly, his voice bearing a heavy tone of age.
Curious, Satoruu inevitably asked, "'Alarick'? Ah, he was the previous king of Harmodia, wasn't he?"
Indeed, as Satoruu alleged, Alarick once held the throne of Harmodia. Famous for his wisdom, his government has brought prosperity and satisfaction to his people.
When his term ended, Alarick willingly resigned, relinquished his royal status and returned to his birthplace, the village of Chavix—the village that now protects Satoruu, Yuka, and Shelina.
Without delay, Alarick kindly invites them to his residence, where they will engage in discussions about the foreign world where Satoruu, Yuka, and Saishira are suddenly pushed out of their world.
As they stepped into Alarick's residence, the crackling fireplace provided a soothing warmth, enveloping the room. The walls are decorated with intricate medieval patterns and decorations, evoking a sense of history and charm.
Taking their seats on the luxurious sofa, they sat down, eagerly anticipating the stories to be revealed about this charming world.
Centuries ago, this nature was in a state of wild wilderness, without humans or other races. It was a land full of monstrous creatures, where dragons and dinosaurs roamed freely.
Then, a momentous moment arrives when 14 extraordinary creatures appear, forming two distinct fractions of the light and dark— dichotomy, reflecting the eternal struggle between the sun and the moon, day and night, and the opposing forces that form the fabric of existence. These factions clashed in the relentless conflict.
In the annals of this world's history, it is God, the creator of this vast universe, who bestows upon them names corresponding to their innate nature.
The fraction of light consists of Patience, Charity, Kindness, Temperance, Humility, Chastity, Diligence. Instead, the darkness embraced Wrath, Greed, Envy, Gluttony, Pride, Lust, Sloth. These entities were organized according to their strength, with Wrath and Patience ruling as the strongest among them all.
However, a turning point arrived when they unleashed their strongest magic, causing a profound transformation that forever changed the natural order of the world. The tropical climate shifted southward, displacing the subtropical nature that once existed there.
In turn, the subtropical climate now lies at the heart of the world, where the tropics should be. However, even in the face of these climatic upheavals, the balance of the world is maintained, because God Himself has fortified the core of the Earth, ensuring its resilience to the turbulent forces of an unbalanced climate.
Their strongest magic caused them to meet their demise. They were finally placed in the afterlife. In the afterlife, they are given nicknames from their factions. The light faction was dubbed the Seven Lords of Heaven (Seven Sovereigns of Heaven), while the darkness faction was dubbed the Seven Lords of Hell (Seven Sovereigns of Hell). Together, they are called the Fourteen Lords of the Afterlife (14 Lords of the Hereafter).
During their revelation, it became clear that their peers held important roles such as Demonic Dragon and Angelic Sylph. Satoruu has defeated the Demonic Dragon, while a freed sylph soul emerges from the body of a cyclop, guided by Yuka's compassion.
Their magic, Demonical Darkness and Angelical Light, came from the power bestowed upon them by their masters, rather than their own innate abilities.
In essence, dragons and sylphs were similar to beloved pets, their magic was inferior compared to their real masters, who had unimaginable magic.
"Wait, if they both belong to the faction you mentioned, does Gieredy Darkness have the same origin?" sela Satoruu, her curiosity penetrated the conversation.
Indeed, Gieredy Darkness shares a kinship with Demonical Darkness, as his magic emanates from Greedy Draconess and its owner, the embodiment of Greed. They stood between the second level of the Seven Sovereigns of Hell. However, the standing of the remaining Sovereigns, including Demonical Darkness, remained shrouded in mystery, even to Alarick, leaving their true level of power a secret.
Saishira, maintaining her cool demeanor, interrupted the conversation with a short question, "Sorry if I'm not polite, but how can you know all this information?"
Little known to many, Alarick was an experienced traveler in his youth, traveling far and wide around the world. He had gathered a lot of knowledge not only from the residents he had met but also found unexpected revelations in places similar to the locations they had once occupied.
Guided by a trail of clues he has dug into, Alarick meticulously uncovers buried history, peeling off a forgotten layer of knowledge. However, due to the limitations of his aging body, he chose to retreat to where he came from, returning to where he came from.
Now, back to their topic, as the world gradually finds solace, God created humans and other races, including demons. The intrepid explorers who crossed the land, standing in front of Alarick, decided to name the continent based on the inhabitants who lived in it.
Broadly speaking, the world consists of six continents: Diploue, Ealvennea, Huminantz, Halbazt, Deunnarve, and Iceyne. Each continent became the homeland of a particular race—demon, elves, humans, half-demons, half-beasts, and dwarf— except the Iceyne continent, which was located at the extreme cold end of the north and south poles.
The Diploue Continent, located in the northern part, served as the demon territory. Huminantz, the central continent, is mostly inhabited by humans and half-demons. Ealvennea, located on the western stretch, was the territory of the elves. Halbazt, a southern continent with a slight slope to the west, is a half-beast residence. Lastly, the Deunnarve continent, located in the eastern realm, provided a sanctuary for the dwarves. Among them, Divloue stands as the largest continent, while Deunnarve claims to be the smallest.
However, among the known continents, there is a mysterious island that defies categorization. It lies to the north of the Ealvennea and west of Divloue—a small landmass, even seen smaller by the islands dotting the Deunnarve continent. Its secluded nature hinders any attempt at exploration, shrouding it with unsolved mysteries that persist to this day.
Under the night robe, Satoruu found himself standing in a field near where he lived. Darkness enveloped his surroundings, as the coldness of the nocturnal atmosphere permeated his bones, regardless of his familiarity with a touch as cold as ice.
Gripping the sword and its sheath firmly, he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to calm his mind. Slowly, his eyes opened in harmony with the rhythmic pull of his sword.
Continuing to ponder, he went back inward, "To grow stronger? To protect this world? Or …."
With a swift movement, his sword sliced through the air, issuing a loud roar. "To realize that our world is not the only one in this vast universe?"
Satoruu was engaged in a solo fight, his attacks echoing in the empty surroundings. Although no one witnessed his training, he persisted, pushing himself further. "Whatever it is .. I'm not sure if I have the ability to deal with it."
"But …."
In a sudden burst of determination, Satoruu unleashed the Soul Fire Slash technique, engulfing the ground with dancing blue flames, yet remaining limited to a designated area. "God will never burden His creation beyond their means."
"Therefore, I will rise even in the face of the most difficult ordeal" he said firmly, determined in his pursuit.
On that cold, dark night, Satoruu continued to train non-stop, unaffected by the challenging circumstances. This foreign world had become his teacher, revealing unexpected lessons and pushing him to the limit of his abilities.
To fulfill his destiny in this enigmatic world, he understands the need for unwavering determination, alongside honed strength and intelligence. They are not driven into this world for no reason or purpose. There was a sure and true path that lay before them.
To achieve this, Satoruu knows he must fight to risk his life to pursue his destiny, along with Yuka and Saishira, to return to his home world and save this world.
Meanwhile, inside the house, Yuka watches Satoruu's training from her bedroom window on the second floor. With a gentle whisper, he called out his name, his voice barely audible. Turning around, he tightly grasped his right hand on his chest.
An unexpected emotion welled up inside him. He is eager to help Satoruu, who continues to push himself to the limits of his abilities. He wanted to be valuable in his eyes, but he admitted his own shortcomings.
He realized his strength was inferior compared to Satoruu, lacking abilities that equaled or surpassed his own.
After a moment of silence, Yuka stepped out of the house, determined to find an open field with a sword in her hand. He is resolute in his desire to grow stronger and help Satoruu. He understood that Satoruu was not the only savior, but one of the seven chosen individuals, and both were among them.
Although the light magic was reduced at night, it did not mean that Yuka could not practice. Humans have an innate ability to rely on their raw abilities, regardless of magic. This is his advantage. Like a torch that illuminates a cave, Yuka trains relentlessly, fighting against the wind with no enemies except herself.
Slowly but surely, he felt his strength grow. With each passing moment, he held firm to his belief that he would be a true help to Satoruu.
Satoruu, following Saishira and Claire's request, decides to take a break. They sat in chairs located nearby, giving it leeway after a day filled with various events and revelations.
During their break, Saishira talked about the topic of Satoruu's previous encounter with Demonical Darkness' magic. It reminded them all that inside Satoruu was the soul of the Demonic Dragon. Utilizing these clues, Saishira asks if Satoruu can manifest the Demonic Dragon in a different form.
In response, Satoruu managed to awaken the Demonic Dragon's soul from within him. The Demonic Dragon materialized, adopting a silhouette of shadows that reflected Satoruu's own form, empowered by powerful dark magic. The night around him seemed even more ominous, as if an extremely powerful aura of darkness was emanating from a newly discovered presence.
Now present, the Demonic Dragon, in the form of Satoruu, attracted Claire's attention. He directed his question towards the creature, seeking insight into the state of the Divloue continent. It was a century ago when Divloue seemed to have been shut down, his relationship with other lands was cut off by the transparent magic barrier.
The story unfolds with the introduction of a famous male witch, hailed as the most formidable among her peers, as she emerges victorious in a fierce battle against a dragon.
In the middle of the dragon's lair, the witch finds a striking gemstone decorated with intricate carvings, considering it an artifact due to its complexity and mysterious nature.
Utilizing his extraordinary magic prowess, the magician combined his power with artifacts, and to his surprise, the gemstone produced a formidable shield-like wall.
Amazingly, this wall proved to be immune to even its strongest spells. The wall can only be dismantled by artifact users, making it a powerful defense mechanism.
Impressed by this newfound ability, the magician dubbed it the "Mysterious Wall Magic Artifact" with respect to its ability to create impenetrable barriers.
Eager to explore the artifact's abilities further, the witch moves it to her residence for experimentation. After merging the artifact with the crystal ball, a revelation is revealed.
The crystal ball opened a vast expanse of ocean, marking the boundary between the continents of Huminantz and Divloue. Driven by curiosity, the witch embarks on a journey to the location, hoping the mystery she seeks will be revealed.
However, in a moment of careless surveillance, disaster befell the witch. The artifact slipped out of his grasp and fell into the depths of the sea. Unbeknownst to him, the artifact remained active, unleashing waves of powerful magic that built a vast wall, completely isolating the Divloue continent.
From then on, demons living on other continents and within the Divloue found themselves trapped, unable to traverse between realms. This predicament makes Claire, a female demon, live in the kingdom of Harmodia, one of the many realms located on the continent of Huminantz.
As the story unfolds, the knowledge surrounding the underwater abyss deepens. This ravine had an enormous magic container, which played an important role in shaping the demons into the most formidable race among the others.
The magic within the abyss served to fortify the land of the Divloue continent, granting it unparalleled power that extended to any creature that stomped its land. It was precisely this magic energy that triggered the activation of the artifact, channeling it to create an impenetrable barrier that separated the Divloue continent from the rest.
Returning to the previous conversation, Satoruu inquired about the position of Demonical Darkness among the 14 esteemed Lords of the Hereafter, especially in the hierarchy of the Lords of Hell.
The revelation takes place, revealing that the Demonical Darkness that came from the Demonic Dragon magic, holds the highest position among the companions of the Seven Sovereigns of Hell, Wrath.
Thus, it became clear that Demonical Darkness stood as the most powerful and formidable magic, surpassing even magic like Gieredy Darkness and magic possessed by other peers.
As their assumptions are formed, Satoruu now finds himself rising to the role of Wrath's new comrade, who was bestowed this honor for his victory over the Demonic Dragon and the acquisition of the Demonical Darkness magic.
