32. Disillusioned

Papa's refusal surprised me, I didn't think that was papa's decision.   It's not that repeatedly dad and mom wish I had a companion.  Papa and Mama said they were always worried to see that we were alone.  Bad people can bother us when the night is late.   There are indeed security guards and some ART, however. It didn't make me and my mom stop worrying about both of us. 

The fleeting look on Jhon's face turned red, he must be very disappointed, his hope of being able to live with me in the near future is gone. 

"Why reject Jhon pa, not all this time papa and mama who always wanted Nina as soon as possible to find a companion for life, because Rena needs the affection of a father.   My mom and dad were always worried because we only lived together at home.   No one helped me take care of Rena except the sisters"

With great disappointment I tried to remind you of the expectations of papa and mama at that time.  

"That's Nina, the human heart is easy to change, we used to be so worried to see you at home just alone.   We're afraid there's a bad guy bothering you.

But after all the time has passed.  We believe that you are good at taking care of yourself and your child. Papa and mama see you are also happy even though there is no man to look after and guide you"

Papa explained the reason why he rejected Jhon. 

"You don't have to be disappointed Jhon, if you really want to marry Nina.   You convinced your mother and father.   If they agree you can propose to Nina, but we cannot promise that we will accept you.  So yes look, because there are some children of my colleagues who fell in love and want Nina to be his wife," mama added. 

"Oh so because Nina is considered independent, so according to mom and dad Nina does not need a husband. Now in your opinion I am in a bargaining position, so that you can choose a husband with better self-quality in various points of view according to you.

They do like me, but they don't necessarily accept Rena as she is.  Remember pa, ma, Nina is a one-child widow, so if you want to marry it would be nice to marry someone who clearly loves Rena," as I respond to the words of mama and papa. 

The cynical smile seen from papa's lips that look has begun to wrinkle. While the mother just kept quiet while paying attention to the interaction between Jhon and Rena. 

"Of course we will be selective in choosing a man for you Nin, we will see him from various sides.  Look at his ancestry, look at his education, look at his career, look at his physique and see how he loves you and your son.  Papa doesn't want you to know just any man.   Remember with your past, lest you repeat the same foolishness, "papa's advice.   

Jhon who was holding Rena, suddenly handed Rena to me. Then he said goodbye to go home, not forgetting he also greeted papa and mama.  I immediately chased after Jhon and we talked in the air. 

"Yes Nina, I promise I'll convince my parents to approve our relationship. Please do not accept other men's proposals.  Stay loyal to me, Nina.   Believe me I love you so much and will never waste you two.  Please promise to remain loyal to me, Nina"

Jhon repeatedly asked me to be faithful and not to accept other men. Like he was so scared of losing me.   I am so grateful to have met a man who loved me so much.   Even though our parents' blessing has not been received.  But with earnest effort and sincere prayer, I am sure there is no wasted effort

"Papa and mama need to know, I will not accept any man who papa and mama match.  Because right now it is only Jhon that I love, only his name is always lived this pa, ma.  Nina believes Jhon is a good man, he is also very affectionate with Rena even unfortunately has exceeded his birth father," I confirmed to mama. 

I don't talk like that for no reason.  Given the attitude of my parents who like to change.   Before I was in a relationship with Andrea, papa really craved the figure of Andrea to be his son-in-law.   From there I tried to chase and conquer Andrea in various ways.   At first, my dad supported me.   But after he found out that Andrea had another woman as his lover besides me.   Papa and mama immediately turned around, he no longer approved of my relationship with Andrea.   

While my love for the man was so great, it felt like I could not afford to break love with the man who had made me sacrifice so much. 

In the end, marrying without the blessing of both parents became my choice.  Even though I had to be driven from the house that since childhood became a witness to my growth and development.   I am married to that man.  Indeed it all started from my mistake that easily gave up my body to him until I was two. 

It was from my very bitter experience.  I can't just pick a would-be companion.  It's not just me and love that is my consideration.   But Rena daughter alone way I also have to feel happy for my second marriage later.  That's why I want a man who is close and familiar with Rena.   A sincere man loves him unconditionally, because he also deserves it. 

"We'll see, son, don't rush to make a decision, you've just been a widow for a few months.   There's still plenty of time for you to choose a better one, maybe you've just felt what it's like to be loved.  Because all this time you were too busy chasing the love of a man who did not know himself.

One thing you should remember Nina, Jhon is not the only man who expects you and Rena to be a part of his life.   But out there some papa colleagues often ask you.  For those who have known about your situation, they are ready to be her biological father Rena.  So your mind should not be focused only on Jhon, "the light of my papa. 

"Yes, son, I'm afraid that Jhon will open your soul mate or not the best for you.  Remember he thinks he's good, but he may not be the best for you and that you don't think is good, but it may not be a bad thing for you" my mother added

Hearing the advice of papa and mama, which I think is not necessarily the direction, finally me and Rena decided to go home.  Around the magrib, my car, driven by the driver, left my parents' home.   Along the way, I continued to imagine the face of Jhon who came home with a disappointed face.   When the car we were riding drove at a moderate speed.   A white car suddenly stopped right in front of our car.
