"The power of love is yes, I love you." Said Zaki.
I was really surprised, but I didn't show it, I just fell silent.
What exactly is Zaki talking about? I was wondering if Zaki's words were serious? Or is there another meaning? If it's true as Fara said, is it possible that I love Zaki? Or Zaki loves me instead?
The situation is increasingly awkward because Zian who is usually talkative and good at melting the atmosphere, now he is also silent. Why is Zian not as noisy as usual so that the atmosphere is not as awkward?
"Geez.."
I just talked about Zian in my heart and now he's laughing hard.
"Daddy! Real time love so. Romantic little dong." Zian said still with his laughter.
"Shut up!" Zaki glared sharply at Zian.
For a while Zian still continued to laugh, but slowly Zian stopped the sound of laughter.
"You're not coming to work?" Ask Zaki to Zian. Zaki raised his eyebrows high.
"Do you still need to ask?" Reply Zian.
"Who will take care of you if not me? Or do you really want to meet Mama with Papa?" Added Zian. This time it sounded cynical.
"No." Zaki's reply was brief.
Why are they suddenly acting cynical like this? Is there something wrong?
I still don't make a sound. I still feel a little awkward because of Zaki's statement earlier. Then suddenly my phone rang, thankfully, this could reduce awkwardness.
Drtts drtts!
I took my phone out of my pants pocket, then saw who called. The name of Fara is there.
"Call from Fara, I'll pick up for a second, yeah." My love, then they both nodded in rhythm.
I slightly moved away from them, I was standing near the dining room door.
"Hallo, Ayri."
Fara snatched right away when I received her call. I haven't even had a chance to say hello.
"Yes, Fa, what's wrong?"
"You're all right, right? You must not eat. I'm the same Sasi is still worried that you suddenly faint again."
They must have been very worried about me, in the short break they took the time to contact me.
"I'm fine, this is me having lunch with them."
"They're who? Where are you now?"
"Zaki and his brother. I'm still at Zaki's."
"So Zaki is conscious?" I know this is Sasi's voice. Maybe Fara uses the loud speaker mode so they can both hear.
I turned to the place where Zaki and Zian were eating their lunch. They also occasionally noticed that I was still calling.
"Yes, not too long ago."
"Thank God there's Zaki's brother, too, so you're not just the two of you."
"Yes." Yeah."
"Yes we have to work again, the break is almost over. You're careful, if it's safe, you'd better go home soon." Fara said to remind me.
"Yes, Fara. I get it."
"Okay, we'll hang up the phone first." Fara
"Bye, Ayri." Added Sasi.
"Bye."
I smiled a little at my phone screen. I am unceasingly grateful for having such good friends as Fara and Sasi.
I put my phone in again, then went back to my seat.
"They look exciting, if you want you can invite them to play here if you want." Said Zaki.
"Sasi and Fara?" Me and Zaki nodded.
"Your friends?" Ask Zian and now I nod.
"Yes sometime maybe. Some of them may prefer to spend the holidays with their respective girlfriends anyway."
"Do they have a boyfriend?" Ask Zaki. I just nod.
"If you've got a girlfriend yet, Ay?" Ask Zian.
Zian moved his eyes to look at me and Zaki took turns.
"Yet. Wh why? You want to make fun of me?" Finally reply.
"Of course not. Since you don't have a boyfriend yet, what if I asked you to be my girlfriend, would you?" Zian asked with a big smile.
I'm speechless. The way I know Zian is provoking Zaki's reaction. Oh, I remember Zian once said he would help get Zaki to express his feelings. Does this include Zian's tak-tik. I happen to be wondering how Zaki feels about me. Do I have to act now? Or do I have to answer what?
Zian smiled obliquely. "You don't mind, do you, Zak?" Zian played his eyebrows.
Zaki glanced at Zian. From the tail of his eyes it was seen that he was feeling displeased. The next second he rolled his eyeballs. "Whatever." Shrugging his shoulders.
Zian then blinked one eye at me. Is he giving me a code? I smile, not wanting to look flashy.
"Maha.." Zian returned to laughing.
"Sorrys. I'm not used to taking someone else's property, let alone my own." Zian said after his laughter slightly subsided.
Zaki was seen grinding his teeth, was he upset?
"Don't make baper girls often, no good. Especially if the edges are left behind, not only the girl is left behind, but there are also scars left there." Said Zian wisely. His tone is serious.
Seriously? This is really Zian who said those wise words? So he can act like that too?
"Don't hang the girl feeling for long. The morning clothes hang the slowest afternoon lifted, the same time the clothesline." Zian added back with his humorous tone.
Zian is still Zian. I was just praising him now that he was joking again.
"All of this requires a process. Do not jump to conclusions at the beginning of the story. Sometimes a story that looks always happy can end miserably. On the contrary, the story that from the beginning showed a lot of twists and turns but could eventually be a happy ending." Said Zaki.
That's right what Zaki said. No one knows how a story ends.
Zian was silent no longer giving any comment.
Zaki looked at me. I don't know why I feel that look is unusual. Suddenly my heart was beating very fast. I bowed my head because I was sure that my cheeks were already flushed.
From the corner of my eye I could tell Zaki had averted his gaze. He turned to look at Zian and opened his mouth.
"And most importantly, don't feel the most understanding of other people's feelings."
*****
Zaki's car stopped in front of the boarding gate.
"I'll just take you here." Said Zaki. After eating earlier I asked Zaki to take me home. Because I'm sure Zaki is fine. Isn't that dream over?
"Yes." Yeah." Short reply. I still did not dare to raise my head, I was busy controlling my heartbeat so as not to be heard by him.
I reached for the door to open it, but Zaki held back one hand.
"Ayri." Call Zaki slowly.
"Yes?" My reply is still bowing.
Zaki grabbed my chin, forcing me to look up and then our eyes met. We looked at each other long enough. Zaki did not speak. So why is he holding me now?
I cut off our eyes first. I turned my skinny eyes forward.
Zaki sounded out sigh after.
"Don't mind Zian's words. He too often comes to conclusions at the beginning, that's also the reason why his relationship with his girlfriend is over quickly." Said Zaki.
I just heard, didn't chim in. Because I think Zaki just wanted to talk without a reply.
"Love is something sacred, it cannot be made playful. That's why we have to make sure before we regret it." Said Zaki again. I still have no intention of chiming in.
"I knew Zian was deliberately luring me into expressing my feelings earlier."
Zaki again sighed. "Are you happy with me? Do you share with me? Or am I just one of the tools for grabbing one thing different from the previous one, Ayri?" Ask Zaki seriously.
What does it mean to say that I think of it as a tool to achieve something different? Is that what he's been thinking about me all this time?
"That's why I told you not to rush to conclusions. Likewise with love, we can not carelessly say it is love. We have a long time so we can think about it carefully."
I looked back to Zaki. Then Zaki ruffled my hair while smiling.
"Don't think too much. The important thing is that we go through the day as we should and try to fight for what we want."
I was hypnotized with her gentle gaze until I nodded and said "Yes."
"Yes, you've entered."
I'm nodding. "Thank you for taking me home."
"By pleasure."
