Les Laches
The Last Tears's

Safira stared at the ceiling of her room with nanar. His eyes were empty, but his head was full. All he thought about was Afgar. His heart was broken thanks to the young man. A week had passed since his quarrel with Afgar at his birthday party, but not once had the young man tried to contact him first. In fact, Sapphira had given the young man a clear ultimatum to choose. Himself or Tian?

A cynical smile loomed on Sapphira's lips remembering the question she asked her fiance. Blaming him for his own stupidity asking something so obvious. Even without being forced, Afgar's choice would fall to Tian.

He was too blinded by love when the young man asked her out two years ago. Plus it was too naive to believe that the young man finally opened his heart to her and had forgotten his first love when he asked Safira to get engaged.

Yes, Afgar's first love. Tian. His best friend who also introduced him to the figure of Afgar.

Safira knew, it was not Tian who was at fault in this matter. He even doubted that Tian had the same feelings for Afgar. However, there was one thing he believed in, which was that Tian knew about Afgar's feelings for him. Only, the girl pretended to be unaware of the young man's feelings and instead betrothed him to Sapphira.

Safira feels like the most idiot in the world because he just found out about it. He is a moron because he too late realizes that he is only a victim of the irresponsibility of two humans who try to hide the truth of each other's feelings. The feelings of one side, to be exact.

Sapphira's tears returned. Suddenly he felt all the happiness he had felt since meeting Afgar was nothing more than a lie. He felt unworthy and unwanted. The loneliness that was so intense as to try to swallow him sank along with the darkness that had slowly encircled his room ever since he opened his eyes from his nap three hours ago.

The time he spent lying on his bed was even longer. However, Safira had already lost the will to do anything. Even to just think about what actions can be done to overcome the problem this time alone he was reluctant.

Until finally, as Sapphira prepared to close her eyes and try to sleep again, a knock on her bedroom door sounded. Safira. He intended to ignore the knock until it stopped itself. Until the person behind the door opened his voice.

“Fir. There's a phone from Afgar.” The baritone voice of Adnan, his sister, was heard from outside his room.

At once Sapphira rose from her sleeping position. Having managed to control her dazed body for a moment from waking up too quickly, the girl opened the door of her room. Surely, after wiping his tears dry. Although he doubted that the traces of his longer cries could be hidden in that way.

Whatever the appearance of his face this time, Sapphira did not care. What was on his mind at the moment was Afgar who finally called him. A glimmer of hope that he buried several times deep, grew back to hear that the young man was looking for him. Perhaps the young man finally realized his mistake and intended to apologize to Safira.

Safira grabbed the phone handle on the desk located between Adnan's room and his parents' room.

“Hai, Gar,” greet Safira in a weak voice. Not at all trying to hide the influence of the quarrel between himself and Afgar.

“Tomorrow night I pick you up, huh?” asked Afgar after answering Safira's greeting.

Safira's heart immediately flowered. However, he tried to hide his happiness with a pleasant question.

“Where to?”

Wherever Afgar took him, he would gladly follow him.

“You forgot tomorrow Papa's coming home from London? Mama plans to hold a family dinner to welcome Papa home. You must be the second person my papa will look for after Mama,” Afgar replied.

Sapphira who heard all of that immediately felt a lot of cold water splashed on her head. His eyes were heating up and his body was trembling with anger. However, he tried to control himself before taking out his words.

Afgar let out a long breath before replying. “I don't want to discuss a problem that has passed because it will only make us fight again.”

“Again? You may have forgotten, Gar. We ARE STILL fighting,” Safira said quickly.

“So, you still want to extend yesterday's problem?” ask Afgar in a different tone of voice.

Safira recognized the tone. He knows her well. It was the tone of Afgar's voice every time he “forced” Safira to end their previous quarrels and get back to making up. Sapphira laughed bitterly, that fact was also only recently realized.

He had actually been blinded by his feelings for Afgar all this time to the point of ignoring the fact that the young man was just taking advantage of him. Both take advantage of Safira's feelings, and use the influence of Safira's parents to please both parents themselves.

Yes, since getting engaged to Safira, the share price of the Linus family company has indeed risen rapidly. The news of the union of two families with conglomerate backgrounds thanks to engagement or marriage is indeed the fastest way of promotion for business people.

That profit was what Afgar was looking for from him. Without it, it was difficult for Afgar to gain his father's trust in handing over the stewardship of the family company to him.

Unfortunately, everything is only clearly seen by Safira when their relationship reaches this point. When he was very fond of Afgar and willing to do everything for the young man.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, the young man's choice that could not help but put Tian first, now made Safira aware before going any further. He finally gave up on the young man again. Yes, Safira decided to retreat forever to fight for her relationship with Afgar.

He took a deep breath before he began to convey his decision.

“Tomorrow I'm going to Denpasar. So, I can't come to your family dinner. Just say my regards to your mom."

Afgar's breath was heard on the other end of the phone when Safira said it. However, before the young man returned his words, Sapphira again made a sound.

"I hope your choices bring happiness to yourself. Also Tian."

There was no reply from the other end of the phone, while Safira struggled with all her might to dampen her sobbing.

“You mean, you want to end our engagement?” ask Afgar after a few minutes.

“Yes. Goodbye, Afgarl. Thanks for everything. Please share this news with my apologies for your mom and dad.” After saying her farewell, Safira put the phone handle in its place.

The tears that came out of Safira's eye pelukur flowed. All the happy memories he had gone through with Afgar suddenly appeared alternately as if he was seducing him to survive.

Afgar's face when smiling, sad, angry, or upset loomed in his head and made his chest tight. Not to mention the whispers in his head that seemed to tell him that there would be no better young man than Afgar.

However, this time Safira really did not care. His heart was so badly wounded. He knew it would not be easy to forget Afgar, but he also did not want to have to experience more pain like this. It is better to live alone to death than to cry for a man like this.
