Khairil: True Hope & Love

Khairil: True Hope & Love
Chapter 20 | Keep Your Promise

...“Before you promise something to someone you love so much, warn yourself first, can you keep it or not?”...

...----------------...

Khairil drove his car at a moderate speed. He did not want the events he had experienced to happen again. Zurran called him, but Khairil did not answer him, but he disabled his silent mode.

While at home, Zurran continued to persuade Jizah to let her mother enter the house.

"Umma, let's wait for Brother in the house. Brother also arrived. Here the night wind is not good for Umma, let alone a lot of mosquitoes." Zurran said for the umpteenth time

Jizah did not respond to his son's remarks and preferred to sit on the bench that Zurran had taken from the terrace. People who are still passing by did not escape looking at the mother and child, which must have been responded with a smile by both.

Suddenly a car stopped across the road. Judging by Zurran it was Zain and his wife. They crossed the street and approached the mother and child.

"Assynolt,"

"Waalaikumsalam warahmatullahi."

Zain and his wife kissed the back of Jizah's hand, "Well, Zurran why are you sitting out here?" Zain looked at Zurran

"Umma wait for Brother who has not come home Bang." Answer Zurran

Zain and his wife looked at each other, knowing that Jizah was no longer what he was. Ammah that they already think like the mother, experiencing PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) or post-traumatic stress disorder that is, mental disorders that arise after a person experiences or witnesses unpleasant events.

"Ammah? Yuk, we go inside. Khairil will be here soon. So, it's better when Khairil arrives? He saw Ammah inside." Zain tried to persuade Jizah to go inside

"But you're also with Ammah?" Pinta Jizah looked at Zain and his wife

"Yes Ammah, we will accompany Ammah until Khairil comes home or even we will stay here." Said Zain who was finally able to persuade him

Zurran sighed, "If Umma like this continues, Zurran would rather stop working. Umma's health and well-being are far more important than anything." Inner Zurran

Seeing her mother had been stuck with memories of the past for a month, it certainly made her children hit. Jizah's mental health is really so disturbed. Especially if there is an event that is almost or so similar to what he has experienced. His body can suddenly shake by itself, excessive fear and anxiety, and worse still he will scream his words of dislike.

...----------------...

Zain patiently fed Jizah, because his Ammah had not filled his stomach and took his medicine. Occasionally, Jizah spoke and asked why the middle-aged woman was waiting for Khairil to reach the gate. It turned out that Khairil had promised if he would not linger at the peak meatball branch. But the reality is not so.

"That kid really can't change." Inner Zain

"Other times? If Ammah I have not taken medicine, please you are a bit forced to eat even a little. At least his stomach's filled up." Zain said to the two nurses who took care of and accompanied Jizah when his children were not home.

"Well Ustadz, next time we'll be a little pushy." Said one of them

"So Zurran had persuaded Umma to eat Bang. But Umma said he wanted to wait for Abang Khairil to come home." Said Zurran sitting next to him.

Zurran sometimes felt jealous of Khairil. He felt, even though his mother was in a bad state though, Khairil was the first child who was always sought. And not infrequently he always felt if Jizah was not comfortable near him. Even so, his love for the woman who had given birth to him never faded even a little. For him, Jizah's form of affection towards him is to see himself independent or rather, away from him.

Apparently Jizah had finished his meal, "thank you Zain, Ammah was full. Sorry Ammah has troubled you." Jizah touched Zain's hand with a smile

"Ammah does not need to thank and Ammah does not bother anyone. It was Zain himself who wanted to feed Ammah." Zain

"Yes already Umma, let's now Zurran take you to the room. Let the nurse give Umma medicine inside." Zurran said holding Jizah's hand which was directly obeyed by the woman. Before leaving the dining room, Zurran smiled and thanked his cousin.

"Assynolt,"

"Waalaikumsalam warahmatullahi."

"Ang, Brother, you guys?" Khairil was surprised to see his two cousins. He is ready not ready to have to prepare an answer if he gets a reprimand for his delay.

"Yes. Do people who are on vacation still cause traffic jams? Or the... The bakso stall visitors are so very, very crowded?" Zain asked in such a formal tone. Khairil knew very well that if his brother had spoken formally Zain was holding back his anger.

Zain's wife touched her husband's hand, "patience bang, Khairil just got home." Prattling

"Sorry bang, Khairil came home late because of ta-tadi..." Khairil stammered, should he say before going to the meatball stall he helped a woman?

Zain slightly sighed. "You know Ril? Umma you are from Ba'da Maghrib, already sitting in front of the fence waiting for someone. And who is that someone? You." Zain stared intently at Khairil

"Um-umma wait for Khairil in front of the gate?" Ask Khairil surprised

"Yes, it's because you're saying too many promises that you yourself don't know whether you can keep or not." Zain

"Sorry bang, it was in the meatball stall Khairil too cool to serve a busy buyer. Khairil couldn't bear to see them standing around waiting for a long time." Khairil lowered his face

Before Zain spoke more. "Abang already, pity Khairil just came home. It's better now that we get back to the pesantren. Poor kids must've been waiting for us." Zain's pregnant wife warned her husband not to speak anymore and simply said Zain's greeting with his wife's hand out of the house without looking at Khairil.

"Yes, I did make too many promises without knowing if I could keep them. Sorry Umma, Khairil has become a hypocritical child." Khairil

Khairil was not aware, if Zurran stood a few steps from himself who was still sitting on the living room sofa. Zurran finally stepped up to Khairil and sat next to him.

There are 3 hypocrites according to the Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah. “Reuters SAW said: Sign hypocrites three; when saying he is lying, when he promises to deny, and when trusted to betray.”

QS. An-Nisa:145, Allah says,

“Really, the hypocrites were (placed) at the very bottom of hell. And you will not get a helper for them”.

Naudzubillah min Dzalik, may we all be kept away from those three things, Aamiin...
