"Faye...."
A voice as soft as cotton was calling out his name.
"Faye come here...."
The girl looked towards the voice. A straight black haired woman stood in the middle of the expanse of flower fields of various colors, smiling at her while developing both hands, opening her arms to Faye. Faye did not know the woman, but she felt as if her heart was called. His feet moved and stepped just like that, splitting the flower and getting closer to the woman.
"Come here, hug me," said the woman gently.
A warm feeling infiltrated Faye's chest. Somehow the feeling of longing overflowed as he entered into the woman's arms. Faye felt so calm and happy, slowly tears melted in both corners of her eyes.
Faye's lips trembled, wanting to say something.
"Mother...?"
Krekks!
Faye opened her eyes, snapped. The fyriel scrunched her still heavy eyes, checking out the loud noise that had startled her earlier. His window was still open and played with by the wind. The transparent white curtains on the window were fluttering with the wind tonight.
Faye wrapped her body in a blanket, sitting on her knees beside her bed. He propped his chin up with both knees, then stared glaring out the window. His brows furrowed, thinking of the dream just now.
Who's the lady? How can I feel that she is my mother?
It was still clear in his memory the figure of the woman. The woman's voice. Faye let out a heavy sigh, she could not see the face of the woman in her dream. Even if he saw it, he would not know because he had never seen his mother's face.
The tep!
Faye snorted in shock from the daydream when she realized there was a shadow of someone on the wooden floor of her room. The girl's reflexes turned towards the window. Slowly but surely, Faye's face turned sour.
"Hey."
The voice greeted him low, softly. Eugene squatted on Faye's window, propped his elbows on his thighs and flashed a slanted smile. Faye's body stiffened in shock and feeling desperate, she did not want to meet the young man now, but her little heart flowered when it found out that Eugene was looking for her.
Faye decides to lock her lips and does not return Eugene's greeting.
The Devoile leapt into Faye's room without a loud leg-banging sound. A few seconds Eugene just stood up with a position that was fairly responsible. His red eyes circled around every corner of Faye's room. He occasionally twisted his pale thin lips.
"Err.., sorry I didn't take off my shoes. But take it easy, your floor won't get dirty." Eugene.
Faye sighed. "What did you come here for?"
"I'm looking for you because you didn't come to the Deep Forest" Eugene replied.
Faye turned her face. "Make what.", his voice was so soft, yet Eugene could still hear it.
"Of course to see me."
Faye's purple eyes looked at Eugene with a skeptical look. He was so astonished, how could Eugene act as if nothing wrong happened between the two of them? While he himself was so dark thinking about yesterday's problems.
Is there something wrong with this devoile head? Or was I just dreaming, so that dream was a dream in a dream?
Faye tried to pinch her arm hard. "Aw!"
Eugene looked at Faye who was faceless and acting strange.
He could see the look of surprise in the fyriel's eyes when he heard her words, as well as when Faye tried to dampen the shock from being seen by her. Eugene smiled faintly.
"I'm sorry for my stupidity yesterday" the young man spoke up. "Before, I wanted you to know, Faye. I was honestly surprised by your words yesterday. In my kingdom no one ever mentioned that word, including myself."
Faye plays the quilt feathers with her fingers.
"Because of that, my mind is completely blank. I can't think of a word to answer your question." Eugene smiled wryly. "I don't understand what love is."
The purple eyes shot up, now meeting Eugene.
"Sorry, I can't answer your question..." Eugene's fingers interjected his purplish black hair, looking frustrated. "But I want you to know something."
Eugene took a step forward, shortening the distance with Faye.
"I feel pain. My breath's congested. My face's warming. My body cannot relax. My heart is beating far from normal. It felt soaring and warm in my chest. I want to see you, the desire is endless even though it's been all night for me to do it. I wanted to touch you, and I felt like I could die of fear just in case you got hurt by me, but really, I couldn't help it. I want to be close to you as long as I can. I don't want to let you go. I don't want to see your back moving away from me. I can't see another girl besides you. All those feelings had taken hold of me, making me unable to think clearly." Eugene took a deep breath. "I became another devoile laughingstock because of all that. Maybe I'm the only devoile who can think and feel that way. It's possible that Dad could kill me because he felt like he was failing the crown prince like me. Maybe I'm crazy. I'm really a crazy devoile."
Eugene stop. His face looked frustrated as he spilled his entire head in the sentence all along. Eugene was convinced this was the longest sentence he had ever uttered for a hundred and twenty years of his life.
"But I don't regret any of that. Not even a little" whispered Eugene.
Faye froze, stunned by the devoile smile before her. A strong gust of wind blew, shaking off Eugene's fine hair. Slowly Faye got out of bed. She wrapped the blanket around Eugene's sturdy body. Faye gave a small smile looking at the devoile's dumb-ass face.
"Why do you always eat sleeveless robes, anyway? Aren't you cold?"
Eugene still looked puzzled for a while, but his typical, pompous smile soon returned.
"Body's good. Honey, right, if it's not visible?" Faye's small laughter gushed.Eugene took off the blanket pack and slowly hugged the girl, curling a flabbergasted expression and a red face on Faye's cheeks.
"This blanket just makes me silly" Eugene whispered in Faye's ear. "I have my own way of warming my body. Like this...."
Faye's heart thumped as Eugene tightened his embrace. The fyriel's eyes are soft, comfortable with the darkness that envelops itself until the thin light is no longer visible. Faye raised a hand, replying to the devoile's embrace.
"Eugene...."
"Hm?"
"You didn't need to talk all that time" Faye said with a small smile. " You just need to sum it up in one sentence."
Jemari Eugene stroked Faye's long hair. He closed his eyes, inhaling the fragrance of fyriel's hair that made him feel comfortable. "What's that?"
"I love you" replied Faye. "Easy, right?"
Faye could feel Eugene's head nodding at his side.
"I love you, Faye," Eugene replied. "I love you so much."
Eugene took off a hug, looking at Faye. Faye was completely stunned by that sentence. He cannot express happiness that is too big until it feels no longer contained in the body. Eugene could not even distract himself from the beautiful face blushing before him. Faye's cheek touched, and an indescribable feeling immediately burst into shock upon seeing Faye smiling and touching her hand back, not appearing to be in any pain at all. The girl held Eugene's hand on her cheek, closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth of the devoile's hand.
"I'm happy" whispered Faye. " That's happy... Thank you for coming for me, Eugene."
A drop of tears flowed down Faye's cheek because it was too much happiness she felt. Eugene gently wiped those tears.
"For Freya's sake, I'm happy to meet you and can feel all this." Eugene immersed Faye's head into his arms, once again enveloping the fyriel with his darkness, letting the pounding of his heart last longer.
