43. Open the Heart

Gea looked at the time on the wall clock in Briel's room. There he was tired of being in the apartment alone, even though there was a television on which he was accompanied.

"Where the hell is he? Why don't you come home?" Gea monologues in solitude. It evaporates many times.

In that solitude, flashes of shadows–shadows of events he experienced appeared alternately. He remembers when he made a wonderful memory with his late grandfather.

"Jik jik jik jik" Grandpa spoke like that when his horse ate Gea's elephant.

"Ahh Grandpa …. My elephant lives on that one, Cake. Uh it's been eaten, "little Gea's whisker.

The Grandfather only laughed to see his grumbling grandson as he lost his only remaining elephant. The game passed quite fiercely. Until ….

"Warrrghhm" Gea's voice as he ate his grandfather's minister who had been squeezed. A burning sense of pleasure, seen in the look of his bright face. Little Gea is very confident that he can win the game, if the minister of the grandfather is gone.

The game is serious and quite stressful. Several times Gea cheered happily, but several times Gea also grunted–sungut because his chess pieces were removed one by one.

Until in detik–seconds end of the game, chess pieces belonging to the king's remaining grandfather with two fortresses, while those belonging to the little Gea left the king with one horse and two pawns ….

"Sir, Gea kangen with Grandpa" said Gea lirih. The taste of kangen in the deceased is so great.

The ringing of incoming calls sounded from his gawai. The voice broke his daydream.

"Hufft …." Gea shook his head quickly. He does not want to sink too far into the memories of the past that make him sad even though it is a beautiful memory to remember.

Gea took his gawai. The name Runi on the screen. Gea immediately raised the call before it was terminated by the caller.

"Hello, Run," he said enthusiastically to people there.

"Akkhh .. Why did you pick up the phone from me for so long?" runnyakan.

"E'eh I forgot …." Runi chuckled. "You are now married."

Runi just remembered that her best friend was married. Then he thought, maybe Gea was alone with her husband. He felt bad for Gea for disturbing Gea. In fact, Gea daydreams alone in the apartment.

Gea just shook her head, silent not responding to Runi's words. He didn't know what answer he was going to say. That made Runi misunderstand.

"Hahahaha ..it must be true yes I bother you. Alright– alright, I'll just end the phone. Happy wedding and happy always." Runi tried to stop her laughter.

"Don't forget, give me a cute and sweet niece." Runi whispered across there. He laughed again and then switched off his phone.

Pensive gea. His marriage did not go as planned, but he could not tell the truth. Even with his two brothers alone he did not dare to speak honestly. It was fortunate that they delayed their return because there were things that still needed to be resolved. Otherwise, he is not ready to see their anger, even though their anger is not directed at him.

Gea's stomach rang. Hunger makes the daydream go away. He looked at the wall clock.

"It's seven."

"Where am I hungry again" complained Gea.

Gea took her gawai to order food online. But he broke his intention. He still wants to wait for Briel.

"Maybe he'll be home soon."

Shortly after, Gea heard the sound of the apartment door opening. He went outside the room. He saw Briel carrying two packs of food. Quickly, Gea prepared two dishes for the two of them. He opened the food pack. Tempting fried rice, smelled fragrant on his nose. Gea put the fried rice on the plate and handed it to Briel.

"Thank you" Briel said as she received the plate. He smiled sincerely. He did not expect that Gea would still want to do such a small thing for him. Gea just nodded and continued his activities moving the fried rice on the other plate.

They ate the fried rice together. There was no sound throughout their meal, only the sound of the clanking of spoons on the plate was heard occasionally.

"Are you full?" ask Briel. Last night he saw an unusual serving of Gea. While this time the portion of the meal is only ordinary, the portion in general. Gea laughs. He could not hold his laughter.

"Is something wrong?"

Briel raised her eyebrows next to. He felt nothing funny. He wondered why Gea was laughing.

"none. It's just funny." Gea was still laughing.

"Funny?" Briel frowned.

"There's no way you're Gey."

Briel scrambled Gea's hair slowly. Briel's treatment left him speechless. He's flabbergasted. But Briel is unaware of Gea's change.

After the meal, Gea piled up their plates and took them to the kitchen. Briel unceasingly held Gea's hand to a halt.

"Why, Bang?"

Without speaking as badly as he could, Briel took the pile of dishes into the kitchen. Gea chased after Briel who was still walking.

"Let me, Bang!"

"No words 'let me alone'! Let's finish this together."

"Tap—"

"I married you to make you my wife, not to be my servant" Briel concluded.

"But kan—"

"No but–tapian. We're doing this together!"

Briel won't let Gea wash their dishes alone. As long as he can and is free, he wants to do it all together. In life, husband and wife are equal. Without refuting, Gea washed the dishes together with Briel. Gea was soaking his plate while Briel was rinsing it.

"Done," Briel said with a smile.

Briel moved her hand so that the water would dry quickly. His actions made the remaining water in his hands splash into Gea's face. Gea closed her eyes. Silently–silently, his hand moved to life the sink faucet, then ....

"Yum!" Briel closed her eyes when Gea replied to Briel by splashing water on Briel's face. As a result they play splash– splashes of water in the kitchen. They laugh together. Even Gea's laughter was so loose.

"Beautiful," murmured Briel.

"What?" gea asked when she did not hear Briel mutter so much.

"It's nothing–apa!" callah Briel. He gasped when Gea heard his murmur. Gea looked at Briel suspiciously.

"Here you go, let's go to the room!" invite Briel to switch their topic. Gea nodded lightly.

They're heading to the room. Gea immediately slid her body on Briel's soft bed, while Briel laid her body on the long sofa.

Gea pulled out a blanket to cover her body for more restful sleep. He looked at the ceiling of the room. And so is Briel. Inwardly, they promised each other without them hearing each other.

"I'm going to start learning to open my heart. Maybe it's too soon, but what's wrong with trying? If he disappoints me someday, then don't blame me if I go."

"My decision is right to open my heart completely to you. Maybe too fast and crazy. If one day I let you down, just trust me and please stay by my side, no matter what. But if you leave, I'll take you back."

They chanted that sentence in their hearts. Without feeling their eyes getting heavy. Without them realizing their pair of eyes were closed and the view was blackened, replaced with a pseudo-adventure dimension in the dreamland.
