Crossing the World
XXX - Shelters (Karen)

My next opponent was a large pack of wolves attacking the mecha using their claws. Normally, a beast like this would not be able to smash metal. However, behind his body that was comparable in size to an adult male lion, it seemed to be stored an incredible strength.

"Let's call them fiendwolves." I muttered to myself right before deciding to directly attack frontally.

The herd numbered more than 40 wolves, but more than half appeared to be immature. It looks like this area is their nest. So, it is only natural that they do not welcome our friendly presence here.

Well, I don't have enough kindness to give up just because this is your territory. Isn't the rule of the wild always that the strong eat the weak?

My sword swing easily split one of the fiendwolves who failed to notice my arrival. Without letting them be aware of what was really going on, my left hand fist that was coated by the exoskeleton armor managed to break the head of another fiendwolf.

Uh, they're much more fragile than I imagined. I thought all the monsters were on par with the red mutants I met before, but it turned out to be nothing like that. This fight is getting boring.

The fiendwolves looked at me with sharp eyes, growling furiously at the deaths of the two members of their flock. However, it seems that no one is going to attack me.

Are they scared? Is their pride to defend the territory only to this extent?

"In that case, I'll take the first step!"

I re-activated the booster jet, darting towards one of the fiendwolves who seemed surprised by my sudden movements. My left hand gripped the hair around his neck so tightly, then pulled it up to fly with me.

He rebelled like a cat doused in water, trying to hurt me with bites and scratches. Unfortunately, exoskeleton armor is not a protector that is easily damaged just because of the scratches of a large dog. The result becomes the opposite. His claws and teeth started to bleed from his reckless attack.

After reaching a height of about twenty meters, I lowered my speed and stared down. The flock of fiendwolves could only fall silent looking at me without being able to do anything.

Bored .. I'm really bored right now. They're not as aggressive as the red mutants I've previously met. My spirit has completely disappeared.

Well~ I thought it would be better if I just kicked them out.

"Well," I held the fiendwolf in my left hand high, "please say hello to your friends~"

Along with the end of my sentence, I threw the huge body with all my might, throwing it on the ground at incredible speed.

The lacing of the 500-kilogram pile of flesh that shot out at a speed of up to 220 kilometers per hour created an unusually loud rumble. His body immediately scattered like a tomato that was thrown against the wall. The sound of a bang forming and the slight tremor on the ground seemed to make the entire herd startled and reflexively turned to run away from this place.

Haa~ is really boring.

[Do you have no intention of pursuing?]

The voice of the AI suddenly sounded right after I landed on the ground.

"Not necessary, they disappoint. Besides, the more mutants like this, the better?"

[Yes, mutants reduce radiation. The choice not to root them out is a good move]

Well then, let's go to the next place. Hopefully other places will be more fun.

Well .. at least that's my hope. Unfortunately, after visiting the red dot sharing map, most of them were simply fiendwolves and disgusting flying insects of enormous size. There were no other red bumps in all the places I visited afterwards. How disappointing.

I can't count how many days I spent rooting them out. No matter how much I exterminate, these monsters will arrive again the next day as if there was a certain respawn point somewhere. Really, I'm really pissed off by all these bugs!

"Don't you have an idea to solve this problem?!"

I cursed the AI in the recreation room at lunchtime.

The first day was fun because I hadn't moved my body that much. However, once this had turned into a routine, even the ogre - that annoying red mutant - was not enough to kill my boredom.

"I actually have a solution to this problem. However, since you seem to be enjoying the extermination, I decided not to tell him for fear of ruining your pleasure."

Well ... somehow I didn't feel any emotion for the annoying answer I received. I'm not even interested in hearing the details. As long as this problem can be resolved, I think it will be enough.

"Do whatever you think is good. I don't want to get involved with those stupid creatures anymore. It's time for me to return to earth to replenish supplies and bring in other research materials."

I intend to directly teleport to earth after finishing my lunch. However, before I did, the AI suddenly talked about something that made me very interested.

"Before that, can you see the artificial island first? Everything that was needed was almost done. I need a direct observation from you to assess whether the results I made already resemble the original island or not."

"Seriously?!" I immediately stood up from my chair as soon as I heard this exciting news. "Take me there right away!"

"Understand."

AI gives the coordinates of an observation room somewhere in the shelter. Without a second thought, I immediately entered the location of the coordinates and teleported twice in a row.

The place I was standing in was an empty observation room illuminated by four lights. There was nothing there except one of its walls made of transparent glass so that my eyes could see what was behind it.

I widened my gaze as I slowly stepped towards the transparent glass.

"I-this .. this is amazing ... "

There is no other word that can describe what I see now but extraordinary.

The scene I saw behind the glass was an unusually spacious room filled with various metal rods. Each rod forms a mechanical circuit that allows it to move through a complex system of gears. All the rods move in a pattern that seems random, but strangely do not collide with each other.

The view was incredible, but I was more fascinated by the giant object in the center of the room.

A giant lump of earth with a random shape lay there, so irregular that no one would have thought that the shape was deliberately made. Deep at the bottom of the mound, there is a giant propeller made of metal, probably serving as the main driving force when this pile of soil is submerged in water.

Various intricately moving metal rods randomly pierced the uppermost surface of the clump, planting a wide variety of plants in various places that were still not overgrown by any plants. Then, another metal rod passes over the newly planted surface while spraying water that soaks the area.

Far behind the land that had just been planted, my two eyeballs caught a beautiful view of the artificial forest. The level of similarity to the actual forest was also very extraordinary. There is no way anyone would be able to distinguish this artificial island from any other uninhabited island on earth.

"What do you think?"

The voice of AI suddenly broke my daydream.

"Looky! I'm sure no one will ever know that this is actually an artificial island." I commend his work.

AI is sometimes a bit annoying, but its ability to design things is on a different level. No creature can rival the artificial intelligence that has existed since the shelter first began operating.

"How long will it take to finish?" I asked the AI with great excitement.

"The estimated settlement is three days. The teleporter installation will be done on the third day and I will open an installation path that allows the AI on your car to move its database into a quantum supercomputer that is on an artificial island. On the fourth day, you can already take him to earth."

Glad to hear. My mood improved when I heard this good news. Soon the simulation I created will turn into a game. Let's see what Earth's civilization will be like when a game that allows its players to perform fulldive is released to the public.

Well ... actually still need a lot of preparation before this plan is realized. Let's put this matter aside for later. My schedule today is to go to earth and shop!

I did a space jump with an amazingly good mood.
