Crossing the World

Crossing the World
III - Earth (Karen)

I fell to the ground. All of my muscles were painful and it was hard for me to move. My body was still hit by the T-13, but the electric current had stopped. I can't control him anymore either, he's probably broken.

My consciousness began to fade as I tried to stand up. Whatever, I'm sure AI will help me in a moment.

When I opened my eyes after losing consciousness, I began to put away the T-13 with all my strength and sat on the ground. My body still hurts, but it's better than before.

My gaze turned around and was very surprised by what I saw. Both balls of my eyes stared separately in different directions, trying to convince myself of what I was seeing right now.

"Po-trees!" I pointed at one of the big trees in front of me. "Trees, trees, and trees. There are a lot of trees and they are huge too!"

Am I dreaming? Is this the world after death?

I saw so many trees and grass around me. There were even so many foreign sounds that I was certain that it was the sound of insects.

Impossible this is reality. Even in the shelter there is no place like this. Many trees and insects are impossible.

I spent two hours just looking at the trees and the insects that perched on the leaves. The fresh air also helps me to calm down a bit. So, it doesn't seem to matter if I lie here to rest.

As I lay down my body, a bright blue sky peeked out from the crevices of the leaves, as if trying to tell me something very important.

"Tu-wait first! Blue sky? Since when is the sky blue?"

According to the expedition team, the sky is always orange during the day and turns black when night falls. In the morning or evening, the sky will be red.

"Then, are they lying about the sky?"

I'm starting to get up. This time I forced myself to walk through this forest.

It didn't take long for me to reach the end of the forest. Looks like I'm just a little inside from the forest entrance. As I stepped out, what I saw next even stunned me.

My eyesight was filled with endless water. Because of the vast expanse of water in front of me, the edge of the horizon seemed to merge with the sky.

I ran, stepped on the wet fine sand and tried to reach the water. Then, hesitantly I grabbed it a little with my hand and tasted it.

"Cure! So salty! No doubt, this is the sea!"

Uh, ahh. I'm at sea! Just incredible! This is the best view I've ever seen!

"With this I can take her to the shelter and ... "

I stopped my words when I realized something.

"How do I get back? Teleporters can't be used and I don't even know where. Not to mention that strange species of danger."

When I was confused about what to do, I suddenly remembered something.

"Ah, didn't AI give me a communicator? Why I forgot."

The use of the wireless type communicator feature is very easy. The device is small and light, and is also mounted on one of my wrists. So, I just need to focus on the features and make a call through my mind. I think it's better called telepathy than making calls.

My field of vision was filled with green virtual screens. If I connect successfully, this screen will display the place where the call recipient is located. However, during whatever I waited, the screen did not change in the slightest.

"Failed connected? How come? Hasn't the shelter mapped the entire planet and said that the signal's range has been increased until it can reach all the land?"

Ah, totally useless.

I sat quietly on the sand, looking at the ocean where the sun was beginning to sink. The sky is now orange and is getting dimmer with the passage of time. Finally the color of the sky became more familiar than the strange blue sky earlier.

The air was getting colder and the wind was also much firmer. Maybe I'd better spend the night in the woods and start a fire for a while. I hope there is something I can eat here.

I stood up and turned around to enter the forest. However, when I looked at the sky above the forest, I was very surprised to see it.

I heard from the expedition team, besides the sun and stars, there is another celestial body called the moon. However, there was something strange about this scene.

"Why is there only one? And it's white?"

The number of months is three, this is common knowledge among refugees. The color should also be bright red due to the dirty atmosphere. Then why is there only one and white?

The most logical possibility is that the planet's atmosphere has begun to clear within the last thousand years. This also explains why the sky is blue. However, it was absurd considering that I had already confirmed with my own eyes that the planet still remained the same.

Then the second thing I can think of is ...

I hurriedly activated my communicator again and tried to capture all kinds of waveforms. Just as I did so, thousands of strange sounds filled my head.

"W-what's this?! The voice of living beings? Is this language? Well, can this work?"

I activated the language pack and put a lot of hope into it. I hope my judgment is correct and the language pack works fine.

[Language package installed. You speak 7,000 languages.]

"A-a lot?!"

Fortunately, the memory capacity of our brains has been improved thanks to the evolution of thousands of years during life in the shelter. If my capacity is still the same as that of the ancestors, maybe my head has now exploded. Totally dangerous.

All right, let's try to focus on one of the voices.

[The terraforming process of Mars is going well. It has been confirmed that there are seven types of insects and three types of fern plants that have successfully adapted to the Martian environment without assistance from Earth.]

Terraforming? Is the planet broken? Isn't it still okay? Why would they bother changing the planet if their planet was still okay?

Wait, that's not what I'm looking for!

I split my consciousness to the maximum and scoured all the databases I could enter. Slowly I began to understand the civilization of this world, its inhabitants, its territories, its level of technology, and most importantly, I managed to enter and control the tools I needed to confirm my situation.

From what I saw through the off-planet telescope and the astronomical database, I knew that this place was not my planet. Even so, I don't know where this is either.

Teleporters shouldn't be able to send me to a place as far away as other planets in the same solar system. Especially to places where our star systems are different.

We are indeed more advanced in certain technological fields, but I admit their astronomy science is more advanced. Well, maybe it's because we live in a shelter that the science of vacuum isn't very well studied.

All right, I better stop this communicator and check my teleporter.

At first I thought it would be useless to check the teleporter because the AI said that the stored energy was only enough for one go. However, if I were to be thrown so far away like this, it should be that checking the teleporter became my main focus.

When I activated it, the coordinates showed a strange code. Whereas before I filled that column with the coordinates of the shelter.

Just in case, let's save these coordinates first in the storage feature. Then, I tried to replace the coordinates with the cage coordinates and activate the space jump.

[Energy is not enough. It takes 5% to reach the destination. The current energy is 1%]

Ah .. I thought it would be like this. However, I am not worried at all because the hydrogen content on this planet is so much! Even the sea is right in front of me!

If I dismantle the T-13 and make a simple conversion tool out of its body, I can definitely charge this teleporter. Even bringing sea water back with me won't be a problem.

Finally my chance to use the exoskeleton armor was in sight.

Fuhahahahah ...

I laughed with satisfaction as I walked back into the forest.
