Crossing the World
XXIV - Shelters (Karen)

It's been about a week since I've been lying in a treatment capsule without being able to do anything. Finally today I was allowed out for a breath of fresh air.

"It's a miracle you can heal with that terrible wound."

AI was nagging me the moment I dressed. He kept raving about my reckless actions a week ago.

"I was shocked when you came home with a puffy blue face and a body soaked with blood."

Frankly listening to her chatter irritated me a little. However, I had no reason to dodge his lecture that reminded me of my own mother's fussiness.

"Your skull is fractured and some ribs are also broken. It's a good thing that the bullets lodged in your body aren't strong enough to penetrate through to vital internal organs."

Well~ a miracle I survived after five bullets lodged in my body and two other bullets hit my head. If only the firepower of the rifle was a little stronger, I might have died instantly in place with my brain scattered. Just imagining it scared me.

"It's a good thing your skull bones and muscle density are twice as strong as the human body. Otherwise, you would have been dead and there would have been no one else responsible for supplying water to this place."

"I thought you weren't even worried about me!" I snapped at him with emotion while my right hand pointed at one of the surveillance cameras I saw in the corner of the room. "You're just worried about your own energy source!"

Lately he's been raving almost all the time. Maybe because his sentence pattern was impressed like he was worried about my safety, I felt bad to reply to his annoying chatter. However, when she showed her true color, I replied to her without restraint.

"Of course I'm worried about you. If you die, I'll also die out of power."

This useless program really pisses me off. If only he had a physical body, I would have beaten his face with all my strength.

"Let's leave aside first about the past. I hope from now on you always wear carbon primorial clothing and carry at least one cyborg at a time."

"Yes, yeah." I replied with a lazy tone.

When the piracy happened, I was just wearing ordinary clothes because I did not expect that there would be such a serious problem. I also left all the cyborgs because I didn't want to spend more money just to buy two tickets that were quite expensive.

I can't believe your carelessness ended that way.

Ah, considering the injuries I had experienced, I came to think of something that I was not really interested in but played an amazing role in my safety.

Based on the health and anatomy data of the human body that I brought from the earth, AI showed a considerable difference between my body and the human body. In addition to quite different joints, some unique details are also displayed.

First, my bones are almost three times stronger than humans. Having a strong bone like this makes me able to jump from a four-story building without suffering the slightest fracture. This reason also underlies why the two bullets that hit my head only caused cracks in my skull.

Second, my muscle mass is tighter than that of a human. Therefore, my strength is slightly greater than that of a human who has the same body size as me. To put it simply, even though the size of the body between myself and a human child is exactly the same, my strength is still twice that of the human child. Unfortunately, a tighter muscle mass means that my weight is also greater than that of a normal human. My body weight might be about 80 to 100 kg if I measure it on earth.

Third, my eyeballs are much sharper than humans. If normal people can see the visitors who are on the monas with the naked eye, my eyeball can even see the dandruff attached to the clothes of the visitor.

How sad it is that this special body was lost to the lowly pirates armed with ancient submachine guns. No wonder I always failed the test to join the expedition team in the past.

"I'm .. pathetic."

I unconsciously muttered as I walked towards the recreation room. Then, the AI responded with words that made my mood even worse.

"Have you finally realized it? Even among the soldiers of the new generation, you are the least talented."

"fucking AI! Don't mock a girl with such harsh words! You're not polite!"

"No, I'm not mocking. My remarks are facts based on the military member statistics I have. Do you want to see it?"

I exhaled while listening to her words. So, apparently I am not talented to be a soldier, huh? Isn't that sad? The last person to survive in the shelter was a loser like me.

"No, thank you." I answered her words in a gloomy tone.

After arriving at the recreation room, I asked the AI to brew the coffee I brought from the earth and display all the reports regarding the experimental data of living beings.

Some ferns seem to be able to live unhindered on the planet's landmass, but others are no good. Large trees such as mango and rambutan trees can only grow in an artificial environment inside the shelter. If AI plants them directly on land, they will wither and die.

Bacteria and viruses can adapt quickly, but just like plants, large animals are difficult to adapt. Well, at least the strongest irritating insects that resemble dates can survive even on land. To be honest, I'm not happy with the news. I'm not gonna let that damn bug invade the planet either. So, I asked the AI to immediately finish him off once all the experiments on the insects were completed.

Chickens, goats, and cows can survive well in a shelter environment for at least four days. However, after four days of being missed, their ear orifices and noses were bleeding. According to the AI, their bodies are not accustomed to changes in gravity and atmospheric pressure on the planet. Fortunately, care facilities can support their lives, giving enough time for the bodies of these animals to start adapting.

Although almost all the materials I brought here could not last long, it turned out that there was also one material that could face the land. That ingredient is potatoes. AI managed to cultivate it around the bunker shelter and asked me to bring in a wide variety of soil samples to support our potato plantation life.

"All right then. I'll buy some fertilizer and some more soil from the earth."

I stood up from the chair I was sitting on after finishing the coffee cup in front of me.

"This time please be more careful."

It's so chatty of him.

"I know! I know!"

After answering like that, I activated the teleporter to jump to earth. My goal is a house I've been leaving for a week.
