The morning came bringing such cold air between the blackened fog of mist. It is appropriate that the village led by Mbah Modo was named Ebuh Village, which means village of fog. Even the rays of the sun seemed to lose their power to penetrate the dense fog of Ebuh Village.
Purbo wakes up in his bed. He felt like he had been sleeping for a long time. It's really good without any of the things that bother him.
"Good morning Mas" Dini greeted as she gently stroked Purbo's cheek. Sit on the wall of the room. His face still looked pale, with a large, oblong stomach.
"Where is your body? Is it better?" purbo asked, revealing a blanket that covered part of his body.
"Yes, it's good" Dini replied with a smile. A smile that feels sad.
"I want to wash my face first, just as take drinking water. Do you want to get some drinking water?" Purbo gets out of bed.
"No need," Dini shook his head slowly.
"You don't feel bored Yang, some days just sleep in the room?" Purbo scrunched his forehead.
"Hmmm, bored is not bored. Yes, this is my responsibility as well, taking care of our baby so that later it can be born into this world healthy no less something," Early rubbed his stomach.
Purbo sighed. There is gratitude spoken in the heart, having a wife as patient and as good as Early. It is only fitting that Purbo forgets all things but he still remembers the figure of his wife. Purbo immediately landed a kiss on his forehead which for the umpteenth time felt very cold.
While yawning widely, Purbo headed towards the kitchen. Thin smoke billowed from the flaming oil stove with a large frying pan on it. Mak Nah is cooking fried rice. The usual thing to do when there is still rice leftover yesterday.
"Good morning Sir," Mak Nah greeted a little bowing. Purbo just nodded, lazy to talk to his maid.
After taking the warm water in the thermos, Purbo immediately left the kitchen. He felt uncomfortable lingering with Mak Nah who increasingly feels more annoying.
Purbo sat down on the front porch floor. The mist moves slowly along with drops of dew drops falling from the green foliage of the shrub plant in the yard. When the white fog faded a little, on the street in front of the house appeared someone standing next to each other watching Purbo.
At first Purbo suspected that there were more people who were lost like Hasan yesterday. Or do not let Hasan return to invite his friends to visit home. But after careful attention Purbo finally realized, the figure who was standing in the middle of the road was Jasman.
Purbo recalls his promise to meet Jasman. Not yet had Purbo opened his mouth to call Jasman, it turns out the man was seen walking hastily towards the residential area. Without a second thought Purbo immediately ran after Jasman. At the same time Mak Nah came from the kitchen carrying a tray containing a pitcher and a glass. He watched his master's departure. His teeth cluttered against the wrath.
"Can't be arranged!" The grave is full of anger.
Purbo's footsteps came to a halt midway with a large acacia tree around him. Jasman stood on Purbo's back.
"I almost forgot our promise today. I feel like my brain is really bad about remembering," Purbo said while adjusting his breath.
"Do you think that's how it is?" jasman asked, still turning his back on Purbo.
"Huh? Whatchu mean?" Purbo asked back.
"It's not your bad memory. But wedang parem Mak Nah is too strong," said Jasman.
"I really don't understand" Purbo said. His forehead looks wrinkled.
"Oh, my time is not much. Too long here, the Japra of Mbah Modo's rent must have realized immediately. Ask what you want to ask. After getting an answer, go home. Understood?" Jasman snapped a little. The nature of Jasman is 180 degrees different than usual. And two days ago the man was so friendly and supple on Purbo.
"That's his name. Judgment for citizens who have made fatal and unforgivable mistakes" Jasman said quickly.
"So, is Ceking really punished? What has Ceking done? why should I be punished like that?" Purbo grew impatient, leaning Jasman in with a question.
"Ceking. Though for now you are an important pawn for Ebuh village. To Mbah Modo more precisely," replied Jasman softly, but his voice was clear.
"Huh? Me? What pawn?" Purbo scrunched his forehead.
Not yet Jasman answered the sound of crows flying on acacia trees. The smell of pandan leaves also smelled like piercing the sense of smell. Purbo sniffed the scent, but it was unclear where it came from.
"My time is up. I need to get back, right away" said Jasman.
"Hey, I'll catch up to your shop. We can't we have a chat at your four-eye place?" sergeant Purbo.
"You want me to be like Ceking?" snapped Jasman. Purbo was silent at hearing Jasman's words.
"I'll see you again, if circumstances permit," Jasman strode away without turning to Purbo.
A few moments later Jasman stopped. He sounded breathless. Still looking back at Purbo, among the thin ash-coloured fog around him, Jasman turned his head.
"Don't drink wedang parem from Mak Nah" said Jasman kalem.
Purbo was shocked. Not because of the words Jasman said. However, when Jasman turned towards him, Jasman's face was full of reddened wounds like he had just been hit by a whip.
For a while Purbo was unable to say the word. He just silently looked at Jasman's back which was walking further and further away.
After Jasman left, Purbo gontai steps back to his home. It turned out that Mak Nah had been waiting for him at the entrance of the house.
"Where's Mister?" tanya Mak Nah tried to smile, but it looks scary. The look on the old woman's face clearly showed anger.
"Do not ask much Mak," said Purbo annoyed.
"I only think about the condition of Madam Dini. Shouldn't run away and continue with him," said Mak Nah. Words that are continuously repeated by Mak Nah every time Purbo out of the house.
This time Purbo lazily responded. He just shook his hand and went inside the house.
"Parem wedges don't forget to drink sir. I put it on the living room table," continued Mak Nah.
Purbo glanced at the table that Mak Nah meant. There was a jar and a glass lying on it. Purbo again remembered with Jasman's message not to drink wedang parem made by Mak Nah.
"Let me drink Mak" Purbo replied. He doesn't want to make Mak Nah suspicious. He pretended to drink it later.
