Part 6's
It felt awkward for Adela as she stood clumsy in front of Ernest this afternoon. There was no courage that made him able to look at the nobleman just because he did not want to beat his chest uncontrollably.
The sound of tapping the tip of the index finger on the table fills the dim work space as if breaking the silence. Ernest was honestly impressed with this girl. Didn't expect that he had the guts after being overwhelmed with the intense fear and anxiety seen yesterday. I don't know what caused him to come back and take the risk. "Well, before you take this job .. I just want to make sure you know something. Everything you see, hear, feel even what you think is not allowed to come out a step from this castle." His voice sounded low and smooth, but his sharp gaze confirmed the sentence.
"Sa-I understand, Old man." Adela gasped, her heart pounding still in disarray ever since she stepped back into the castle. Once accepted to work he was only able to surrender his salvation to God.
Ernest's words continued. "And .. nor will there be any forgiveness for a speck of betrayal."
Adela took a deep breath while hiding her trembling hands from behind the skirt of her shabby dress. "Ba-good,
Mister."
When the nobleman smiled faintly, the tension in the girl melted along with the appearance of a red hue on the cheeks, because it was his smile that was first shown from the beginning they met. "Okay, you seem to understand." Ernest hooked both hands on his lap, wanting to know more details about his new servant's life. "How old are you?"
"Eighteen years, sir."
The man nodded once. "Compared to my age, you're like a bud that's just grown" he muttered slightly, creating a thin frown on the girl's forehead. "Tell me about your family." Adela was a bit confused.
"Yesterday you said that you lived with your family on the edge of the capital."
It is only natural that this noble wants to know the ins and outs of his workers. There was nothing to hide from a poor girl like her. Squeezed a little on her skirt. "Yes, Sir. I live with my mother and two younger brothers." Her chocolate iris can't move on from her new employer. The man in all-black suit continued to observe him, more
precisely watching, and obviously it made him even more nervous. All his life he had never met a noble as handsome as this man. Is he lucky to work here? I think that's a too early conclusion. "My mother was very ill and my two younger siblings had to go to school, Harry was nine and Mike was two years younger. We live in a narrow alley on the northern edge of the capital, quite close to this hill."
Ernest's lip line was docked, because now he understood why the girl who was afraid yesterday could come back here again. He hoped that reason was enough to keep him stuck in his spooky castle. "I'm sorry about your family." He sincerely sympathizes.
"Thank you, Mister. I really appreciate it." The girl also smiled awkwardly.
"Well, from today you can work ... or do you want to start another day?" Ernest stood up and opened the drawer of the worktable.
"Nope-no. I can start working at any time." Adela felt faster would be better. He needs this job.
Ernest took out a bag of gold coins from the drawer. "Come here." The girl nodded, then approached her desk. Put the bag on the table, then push it towards Adela. "This is half the salary I promised. The rest I will give on the first day of the last week, while for next month's wages I will give half on the last day of the first week and so on. William is taking care of the household finances of this castle. He will explain everything to you."
"Good, Sir. Thank you." Thank you." Adela grabbed the bag of money while trying to guess in her heart. What exactly is the job assigned by his new employer to dare to pay this amount? "What should I do? I promise not to disappoint you."
Adela gasped for that subtle warning. It seemed like his master could still sniff out the doubts he had been struggling to hide. "Sa-I understand, sir."
Ernest straightened his body, bending his left hand behind his strapping body. "For the answer to your question, I just want you to take care of a doll in the master bedroom." The girl's face seemed to ask, more element of wonder actually. "No need to clean the house or cook. All such work has been given to other servants."
"Ha-that's all, sir?" Adela increasingly does not understand, why he was paid handsomely just to take care of a
dollies. It's so weird, so weird! thought.
"It's as it sounds, isn't it? But it won't be as simple as what it will look like later. This
heavy duty, very. I hope you're really ready." His words increasingly caused Adela's forehead to fold, especially her heart felt tight and tight by worry. "You will stay in this castle to take care of my doll .. You guard it when darkness begins to clothe the heavens and may sleep when light warms the earth."
That sentence really made Adela more and more clueless, there was anxiety that slowly crept into her mind. Question after question crammed from the heart as if it was about to vomit through the throat. All these questions only form one core, which is about the psychiatric condition of this man. But he tried to get rid of all prejudice to stay focused. He is committed to doing this work whatever the risks. Of course, for the money of his family. "Then ... am I allowed out of the castle to take care of my family?" tanyanya expectantly. His two siblings were too young to care for their mother.
Of course, Ernest objected if it was considered as a family breaker for its sake. He smiled, not wanting this girl to mistake him. "This castle is not a prison, Adela. Your bedtime is a time for you to rest, you should not use it to close your eyes. But remember, you must return before the sun sets."
How glad Adela was to know the kindness of her master. Dim on his face vanished changed joy. "I
understand, Sir."
Ernest picked up the bell on the table and shook it twice. The bell clinks slowly and resonates in the room. Not long after that there was a knock on the door. "Come in."
An old man came in and saluted. "I, Sir."
"My chief servant, William, will explain the rules of this castle and the tasks you will have to do
in detail." William's Stare. "Will, escort this Miss to recognize the castle. I don't want him to get lost and cause everyone to be restless. Then show him the room that has been prepared for him. After that, take it to the main room." A key was taken out of the pocket of the suit and reached out to the butler.
William greeted the key politely and looked at Adela. "Come, Adela," he asked. The new waiter nodded
then he honoured his boss.
A nod led to the departure of the two servants until the door was tightly closed. Now Ernest only hopes that the girl will not run away in fear after meeting her special doll. Glanced at the black curtain behind his body to estimate the time that would soon drown the sun. "I hope my decision to hire him is the right thing." He thought about Adela's young age. Age that does not yet have emotional stability.****** his breathing sounds heavy, anxious waiting for the time that will answer how the girl will face situations beyond her common sense.
