Part 4's
The old man opened the door and spoke to the figure inside. "A prospective waiter you want has come, Sir."
"Please come in."
So the door opened wider, but the white-haired man gave way to Adela who immediately entered without raising her head, while he did not follow her but closed the door of the room from outside and left them both.
Fragrant lavender fragrance has a calming effect, but still cannot reduce nervousness. The nervousness was still there when Adela saluted the man she dared not look at. Perhaps it was because of this room that was no different from the hall where it first entered. The light of the candle burning on the nightstand still leaves many unsettling dark sides. It was visible from the corner of his eyes that the thick black curtain also wrapped tightly around the window as if it did not let anyone peek. It was such an inconvenience that he almost regretted coming.
"Please hold your face, miss. Let this gloomy light give me a little vision to recognize your face." Ernest shifted a little candlestick on the desk towards the girl, another waitress who had been waiting for so long.
Although the nobleman's accent did not sound like the English, Adela still blushed to hear the language so subtle. After an awkward nod was lifted his face slowly. No doubt he pecked, his brown eyes widened when the face that was sitting at his desk exceeded his shadow. The impression you get when you hear his voice is not wrong.
As his face warmed up, he could not imagine how red his cheeks were right now. He hoped that the gloomy light here would not show it clearly. It would be very embarrassing for him, especially the charming look was watching him. This space-like bead of an alien master was fixed directly into his eyes, the reflection of the candle flame of the sun occasionally dimming or getting brighter there. Real beautiful. It's not his fault if the pounding in his chest gets messy. Is it wrong to think that God has acted unfairly to other men?Look at the sharp-striped eyes with firm eyebrows as if they can freeze the body of the interlocutor. Any woman will not be able to turn away from the sad eyes that are able to melt the heart. And, my God, the light of the candle makes his straight nose even more attractive!
Adela was increasingly agitated, her mind was more slurred when observing her ripe lips. The line of red lips notched like a horn is very contrasted with the skin as pale as the moon. The sensual impression is too strong. This young girl was too young to bear the charm of maturity. And his black hair looked smooth, transverse covering part of his forehead.
Adela's lifetime has never met with humans in this perfect way. In fact, he could hardly believe that this creature before him was real. Too improbable. Then he nodded to realize his disrespectful behavior. "My sister Adela Whiteheart, sir. I come from the outskirts of London and live with my family" he said. "I came in for Mrs Rowlan" he added nervously.
Ernest did not blame his behavior because he knew the reason that caused it when he saw Adela's reddish cheeks. Unfortunately, this girl did not realize that what she was admiring was a curse from God. At first glance Adela's stature is well observed, quite beautiful despite being thin. When viewed from the jaw line Ernest can guess how much age. His only hope is that age will not be a distraction for him in the days ahead. "I hope Ms. Rowlan explains a little about this stranger to you." He got up, a black suit with a white shirt with a red tie in the form of a thin ribbon swirling down that he wore made his body look tall and attractive. "Do you also know for sure the reason that made you come to this castle?"
Touching words, this girl needs a job. Indeed, times like this are quite difficult when England fought with Spain. Could escaping to this country be a mistake? Most importantly the country is quite far from Romania, and quite worthy of his heart. After all, the condition of this country was also enough to give him hope that wants a human servant to be realized. The black bead went down slowly combing the edge of the table. "certain. There's no doubt about it. I just want you to understand something before you decide to work for me, Adela. It may be difficult, it may be a little unpleasant." Adela is still reading his explanation. "That I really do not need a servant who is capable and diligent in doing household work," he said carefully, his fingers lightly rubbed the edge of the table waiting for the reaction of this girl.
Fine kernyit formed on Adela's forehead. If not such a servant then what kind of servant does he want? "Sorry, Mister?"
Suddenly Ernest stared intently and so piercingly that Adela gasped. "I ... only need a servant who can keep his lips." Adela's heart stopped beating. The guess that there are secrets hidden inside this castle is getting stronger. His fear was obvious. "Are you willing to meet my requirements? Otherwise, I'm sure you know where the castle exit is. I won't hold you."
The two fingers of the poorly educated girl interlocked and squeezed each other, confused to ascertain whether to take the job of this handsome noble or not. The requirements given make him depressed, instead he has trouble keeping secrets, but of course there are risks to consider. What if the secrets inside this castle endanger him or even his family? Deciding without weighing the losses from such risks is a rash act. By karenya looked at the nobleman nervously. "May I ... think about it first?" The man before him tilted his face, that was not a good sign. "Sa-I don't mean to be disrespectful. It's just that .. I want-" Adela was confused how to explain her concerns.
"What you see in this castle should not be heard by anyone. I wish you could understand" Ernest cut. Adela is getting it wrong. "I will pay a hundred pounds every month" he added, to make it more interesting for the girl to want to work for him, because now he can sniff out the fear from inside him. It is undeniable that with the condition of the castle like this, there will be no one who does not think badly about it. While this girl is the umpteenth time prospective servant came here and her reaction was no different from the previous one. Covered with anxiety and fear.
The amount of wages that managed to shake Adela's mind. That's a huge wage for a waiter, he thought. But he was increasingly convinced that the payment must be proportional to the risk of his task later.
The uneasiness was still reluctant to go from the look of the young girl who was bowed limply, leaving doubts in the mind of Ernest who wanted to hire him. He considered that Adela was too smart and responsive to the situation. Maybe it wasn't this kind of waitress that he needed. Though difficult, he will give him time to think; accept this risky job or continue wallowing in poverty. "Alright, Miss. You can go. Come tomorrow at dusk like this if you are ready to accept the job. I hope the answer is not too long so that we can invite other prospective servants later. I'm sorry, but I'm very selective in accepting someone who works for me."
Dirty is that hope. Maybe Adela is too heavy in thinking about things that are not important, she should just ignore it. As his face lifted with an uneasy feeling, the man had already turned his back on him, leaving behind a stifling uncertainty. He sighed resignedly. "I understand. Excuse me, sir." After saluting he came out of the room.
Ernest sat back down, it felt rather cruel to pressure the young girl to make up her mind. Iba is indeed when he knows there is someone who must be responsible for being the backbone of the family at that early age. But what's the power? It does require a perfect human servant in keeping secrets. It's a big bet for him. To keep the princess from leaving the castle. Am I over deciding this?
