The Part 37
“Is the wine I offer too bitter, Adela?” Eien ducked his withered flowers. This is not the first time this has happened, as Lyonis did at the time. Both of his eyes were closed trying to let go of this girl. “I can see you standing on a thin layer of ice in a dark deep lake. The only way is where your path comes from. That's the only way to be saved. If you continue forward, maybe the layer will crack where you must be drowning in the dark and cold lake water. The upheaval within you is so real, that it would be so cruel if I forced you to stay by my side. Hornest will definitely understand and be willing to let you go.” Never did he expect that time with the little waitress would be this short, even so his face was back straight in order to give him a sincere smile. “Thank you for all the attention you've given, Adela.”
The layer of ice under Adela's feet had indeed cracked, just waiting for when she stepped up and made a mistake. Despite looking back, the place where he was supposed to return, in fact he still stood as if his shabby shoes were made of stone. He wanted to run away, but the pain in his heart continued to rise not subside because of a farewell speech full of lara. Her tears flowed thinking if it had all ended here? After falling in love with the two creatures, now he will be thrown out of this mysterious lake vortex. They would vanish behind the ramparts that might be getting higher. No more opportunities to have a light conversation with her master, serve and make up the beautiful face of the lady, or be taught some skills by William. What would happen if they were lost and not part of their lives? Will it be relieved to be free from distress? If that is the case, then why does his chest feel tight. The worry is even the thing that ignores his own safety. Wasn't it clear that he was reluctant to turn around back without caring if the ice sheet would break or not. “Totally,” softly.
Heard her Eien was getting sad. “Sorry, Adela, if we turned out to have let you down.”
The girl shook her head slowly, then reddened on the floor of the carriage, her face looked up to find the shocked iras confused. “Not so I mean, Miss.” Eien's voice changed asking. “That's okay if the ice breaks, it doesn't matter if I have to drown in a poisonous lake even if I find a miss at the base.”
Both of Eien's eyes grew bigger. “Adelaaaa?”
“That's right, Miss. Maybe I don't understand what I am saying right now. But in reality the thing I don't want is to part with you. If what Miss said is true, why am I still alive? I witnessed for myself what had happened earlier, and what the two foreign men had been talking about. Honestly, since I kept asking in my heart, do I have to jump right now from the train? If my existence is indeed dangerous, master should have killed me in the middle of the forest as well. No one knows even if a lowly servant like me was killed. But in reality, master still gave me a chance to ride this carriage with you. That means I'm not in danger, right?”
Eien grabs Adela's fingers. “I myself will protect you even from Hornest though.”
“I believe it, Miss.” Adela took back her fingers. “Because of that, allow me to continue to be by your side. This lowly human Sa-me will do anything for you.” Thas right. Like the mythical image, vampires are considered monsters or even demons that are fierce and evil, but for him this creature before him is a bright light, which pulls him into a lake that may be without a bottom. Is that the real horror?
“I believe that. You proved it when our lives were threatened. Please do not repeat it again. I won't be able to bear it.”
Adela was stunned, but then her expression softened and then smiled until her eyes narrowed. “I cannot promise, but I will try to keep Miss from being sad just because of me.” So did Eien who replied with a beautiful sincere smile. That smile …. How could Adela have let it go. Her nona has become the love of her life. Is this the so-called special bond that connects with the employer? Adela often heard the story of her neighbor or best friend who became a personal servant of a nobleman. Somehow they feel an inexplicable attachment with words to their own master, like a dog that has submitted and resigned to its owner.
Elena's carriage had returned to the castle, Eien could only take a deep breath as the carriage door opened and display Ernest behind it. Without saying much he went down while being helped by the man. At his side stood William who also welcomed with a welcome speech. Although only a simple sentence is usually said by the servants, but for Eien the line of words has a meaning that can take away independence. “I'm really sorry for my behavior this time, William. Forgive me for ruining the banquet.”
William's eyebrows raised the sign inquiring. "Truly I don't understand what Miss is talking about. As far as the servant's observation, the event went lively and smoothly. Music, the clanking of tableware and the excitement filled the castle, even Miss became the main topic of every conversation."
Eien was a bit stunned. Did he have to regret his absence in that fun-looking event? Or he deplored his failure to escape. Had there not been an incident of backup by the two damned creatures, he might have arrived at the port. “Then I will be grateful for that joy, William.” He looked back, at Adela who was about to get off the train. At least, he had obtained a human who loved him. I'll be grateful for that.
"We'd better get inside" Ernest asked.
The contents of the castle room that had returned to its original state shocked Adela. All the decorations had disappeared, the light of the room became dim, and the sound of the music changed quietly. Where did all that go? Other than her astonished self, the others just seemed ordinary. "Gentlemen, what about the banquet?"
"Of course they're back after the dinner ends."
The answer is too simple. "I-I mean, how did all this happen? For a moment all beautifully decorated, then suddenly everything came back to how it was. Really not getting into the deacon. Moreover, we did not cross paths with a single carriage of the invitations on our return."
"Ilusi," answered Eien. The small girl's cheeks seemed confused. “Your human eyes won't be able to tell the difference. And that path, Hornest would have been reluctant to reveal. Too complicated for you to understand.”
"Where do you know?"
"Someone taught it to me" he replied. Ernest widened his eyes to look at him so that their two eyes intertwined.
"Who is he, Miss?"
"Of course my teacher." When examined, there is something strange in the stature of the kidnapper. While in the forest he even mistakenly recognized this man as his teacher. As a result, shame was on his mind because he had acted like an insane woman. “Yes, but somehow you have the figure of my teacher,” he continued but was fixed on Ernest.
“Teacher?” reiterate Adela who also observed the face of Ernest who lowered his gaze in order to hide a beam of sadness.
“True. He is a gentleman.”
Suddenly Ernest's gaze again lifted where a beam of hope shone brightly. "Did you remember anything?"
