Chapter 4: The Smiling Shadow

Our current team of three consists of myself, Hyunsuk, and Olivia. Because of the vastness of this warehouse we decided to look for other roads such as elevators, stairs, or hallways. But before that, we tried to go around once more to keep the supplies.

To be honest, this place has a lot of equipment, but usually the equipment here is mostly in places that are usually avoided such as dark rooms. Due to the effectiveness of 3 people, we managed to find many items.

After some time the total search of the equipment we found was 6 bottles of tupperware, 18 units of small batteries, 1 scissors, 18 pieces of military food, 8 pieces of snacks, 1 pot, 12 matches, etc, 2 knives, 1 machete, 4 police vests, 6 flashlights and 2 tarps.

Somehow we managed to load a lot of these items into our bags, well even though there are some that must be left because if too excessive it might become a burden. But the storage priority that was in our bags was stuffed with food, and since we found the bottles, we were able to store the water supply without the need to go back and forth to the water source when thirsty.

As for the weapon, I gave the machete to Hyunsuk and gave the knife to Olivia. When Olivia got the knife from me, Olivia seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, well it was no wonder however we currently seemed familiar to me and she was originally just a stranger who had only been acquainted for some time, there must be some concern about us from him.

Well but I think it's pretty normal anyway she's a woman in the middle of nowhere with a group of two guys. Possessing a weapon might make him feel more comfortable because if something unexpected happened at least he could protect himself.

Returning to this moment, after seeing that the supplies we had gathered seemed to be sufficient, our group then walked towards the stairs leading to the lower floor.

This room downstairs wasn't much different from the previous floor, so we started exploring again to find a way out. At some point, we found a passageway that went somewhere. Since we were now focused on finding a way out, we decided to go inside.

This hallway is connected with many water pipes hanging above, water droplets falling from several pipes form a small puddle. This place is usually a habitat for some animals such as mice and insects, but at least until now we have not found any animals.

These aisles have a lot of branching, but we keep getting into the aisles with pipe leads hanging earlier. Only after passing through the branch several times did we find an iron door from the end of these passageways.

Everyone seemed happy when they saw the door. But I realized that this door doesn't guarantee that it will lead to an exit.

Arriving at the door, I opened the door and found the other room was a tunnel and a very long ventilation duct.

" Don't worry noona, we'll definitely find a way out "please entertain Hyunsuk.

Looking back at this place, I feel like this journey will be very long. And for some reason ever since I entered this place, I felt a feeling of full alertness from the surroundings

It was as if upon entering this place, there was the feeling of someone watching from behind the darkness.

But there's no point in stopping now, all we have to do is keep moving forward.

Leading the team forward we continued walking in this seemingly endless tunnel. Lighting became one of the main problems because, most of these places were dark enough that we had to use the flashlight we had previously gotten.

Walking in this dark room made the others feel uneasy, it was already a human instinct to avoid the dark and unknown room. Because of this, Hyunsuk and Olivia started to draped beside me holding a shirt or bag as their handle.

Well, they need someone to give them courage. Not that I'm brave enough, it's just that if I'm also afraid the composition of the team can become chaotic. So with a feeling of vigilance I led the way in this dark room.

At one of the tunnel intersections. My legs stopped as I stared into one of the branching hallways with great seriousness. Hyunsuk and Olivia who kept walking behind me bumped into me who suddenly stopped.

" What's wrong hyung? why stop.... " 

hyunsuk's words were not finished as he stared where I was looking as well, even Olivia who was holding my shirt could feel as if her hands were trembling at what we saw.

Across one of the branches we saw, there was one big creature staring at us with a smile. The creature's entire body was covered with darkness, only its eyes and sharp teeth were reflecting in this darkness.
