Chapter 14: The Meeting

After resting, we began our exploration back down this vast parking basement. Not long after the trip, in the distance we saw the Burster Entity. Well, it wouldn't be difficult to find this monster because of its great physical features and its loud cries. Our encounter with many monsters earlier made us already quite accustomed to the presence of these monsters.

" Olivia, can you shoot that monster from this distance "I asked.

" Leave it to me "

To save Shotgun's ammunition, I told Olivia to shoot him. And also, I want to see how Olivia's shooting skills are, we at least have a distance of about 30 meters from the target. With that huge monster as a target, this could also be a drill for Olivia.

But it seemed like my expedition turned out to be too underestimating for Olivia, with a single shot of the monster before me instantly bursting out spewing acidic liquid everywhere.

" ... "

" ... "

" ... W-what's up? " asked olivia awkwardly as me and hyunsuk looked at her stunned.

No one ever thought that the monster would die from just one shot. Not that I mean underestimating, it's just that the shot was too accurate right? this is a distance of 30 meters, even I myself am not entirely sure that I will succeed in hitting the target with just one try.

Hyunsuk was able to successfully hit his target only due to the diffuse nature of the Shotgun's bullets, but Olivia was able to hit the target with a single bullet.

The first one to react was Hyunsuk, "Wow, how did you do that noona. Did you take military training? "

Olivia shook her head, "I didn't receive any military training, but I used to visit the shooting field just to get busy " 

" So that's the case, since noona has done so much practice that noona was able to hit the monster" Hyunsuk nodded in understanding.

" Exercise is necessary, but an understanding of the weapons you hold and the environment is also very important. For example, this 1911 Colt, has an effective distance of about 25 meters with a shooting speed of about 100 m/s. Because the basement environment here is not windy, there is no need to take into account the level of bullet recession because the bullet will only fly straight forward... " 

That's natural isn't it? After all I live in a democracy that strictly regulates the possession of firearms, so during my lifetime I have never held one. It would be even stranger if I mastered the weapon without any training.

Even Hyunsuk who heard the explanation from Olivia, seemed speechless. From his face I can guess that he doesn't even know that shooting requires a lot of complicated calculations. He has not received any mandatory military training, due to the hot situation between South Korea and North Korea and all of his 18-year-old youth are required to attend military training.

From the conversations we had I found out that Hyunsuk was only 17 years old, so he was not yet qualified for the military service.

Back to the topic, after Olivia blew up Burster we went back to venturing forward. With Olivia, our security level has greatly increased. It's quite embarrassing to rely on a woman, but it never hurts not because it means we trust her abilities so much.

After all, there is no point in feeling inferior, everyone has their own expertise, what needs to be done is to continue to walk forward and hone skills in the field that we master.

As we continued to move forward, we suddenly heard the screams of monsters and the sound of very fast footsteps. Looking to find out the origin of the sound, we found around from our left side with a considerable distance there were 2 men who were running very hastily. 

Chasing behind the man, was a monstrous humanoid entity that had no eyes. The most unique thing about that monster was that it crawled at the top of the basement, well right on top. 

It seemed like the monster had some sort of adhesive ability in hand, but despite crawling, the monster was really fast while chasing after the two men.

The two men were Robert and Joshua, after a short rest the two began to continue the journey. But even lapse not long after they walked forward, suddenly there were monsters shouting and chasing after them.

Because of the position of the monster hanging on the roof, it would be very difficult to fight against the monster. So they were in a position to chase each other for ten minutes with the monster. 

Running for ten minutes is not an easy thing, especially both are not someone who often exercise at the beginning. Both of them were able to maintain their pace just because of the desire to live.

But back again, even if both of them were strong there was a limit on both of them's stamina. As the two were almost on the verge of crossing the line, they saw 3 human beings across. With the last wish to live, the two of them ran towards Lan's team while shouting, "PLEASE!! "
