Azimah and Andreas chuckled and ate lunch on another topic.

No one thought if they were a connected family, Andreas' warmth and affection were able to make Azimah and her two sisters feel the whole family they had so long hoped for. If Selma hadn't met Andreas, maybe their lives wouldn't have found the happiness they are today.
