An Ancient Relique's
A Wasted Death

As a being with above average abilities, Darren felt a sense of danger lurking. He was very understanding if the ancient tombs of the vampire nation were always special and not easily penetrated.

The opening of the coffin was welcomed by Nirwana and his team. They did not know that death had erupted along with the opening of the stone coffin. The sound of the stone moving constantly made Darren suspicious, not to mention the clear warning carved into the wall.

The greenish-yellow light that appeared when the coffin opened was hurting Nirvana's body. The smile that had been expanding adorning the lips turned into a horror that occurred in a matter of seconds. Nirwana realized the danger threatened his team, but he had not had time to shout to warn its members, a huge energy slammed into his body until it fell into the wall of the room.

Nirvana's body was like being stoned by thousands of needles, the pain all over her body made Nirvana close her eyes. It is like drowning in an ocean with a high air pressure that is ready to melt its body into small fragments.

'This time I will die! So sick! Mom, dad, help me!'

Nirvana screamed inwardly, her eyes closed and subconsciously biting her own lips. The pendant was luminous, the greenish-thin energy was like a shield protecting Nirvana. A feeling of warmth and comfort slowly spread in Nirvana's body treating the pain in his body little by little.

Darren was surprised by the magnitude of the energy protecting Nirvana. His energy was even on par with that of the vampire elders.

"This girl!" his eyes widened, "Has he been chosen?"

Outside the protective shield, Nirwana team members who had not had time to save themselves had to die in a terrible way. Their bodies blistered, a thick red liquid flowing from their noses and mouths, almost all the blood vessels in their bodies ruptured.

The strange energy filled the ancient tomb chamber within seconds and disappeared after blood flooded the floor. The energy shield formed from Darren and Nirvana energies slowly disappeared as the death threat subsided.

Nirvana opened her eyes slowly, sweat flooded her body, and the pain she no longer felt. As he opened his eyes, Darren's face was right in front of him.

"Mr Darren? What's going on?" Nirwana looked at Darren's eyes which turned red.

"You?" Nirwana could not continue his words because Darren cut him fast.

"Sorry, I can't protect everyone."

Nirvana realized something, "My team!"

He pushed Darren's body rough, then immediately stood up. How shocked Nirwana when he saw the corpse of his team lying horribly in front of his eyes.

"Oh no, what happened!" he cried out hysterically, his eyes sweeping the room staring at the lifeless bodies bathed in blood.

The smell of blood on the floor left Darren tormented. He wanted to drink it all out but he had to hold back. Because that blood is the cursed blood that must be offered to his ancestors.

"Nobody can escape but the chosen one." Darren looked at Nirwana who was still mourning the death of his team. "Maybe this girl was chosen?"

"Nicole, Nicole?" Nirwana is looking for Nicole, his assistant.

"Your assistant is here, I think he survived and just fainted" Darren said, pointing out Nicole's position not far from her.

Nirvana immediately approached and checked the sign of Nicole's life, "God thank God! Nicole, wake up... Nicole!"

Nirwana frantically contacted Gery who apparently acted quickly and has now arrived in the basement.

"Professor Nirvana!" Gery shouted to his name, he descended the stairs in haste. "Oh my God what happened?!" his eyes looked at the horrors that were happening before his eyes.

"Here Gery, hurry up!" shouted Nirwana worriedly, he continued to try to resuscitate Nicole who still did not respond to him.

"Be careful not to jump over their bodies!" darren shouted at Gery and the other members.

"Why? What's wrong with jumping?" gery's argument is confused.

Gery reviews the wry smile, he looks at Darren in surprise and tries to remember whether Darren is part of the team or not.

"Gery hurry!" Nirwana resentfully shouted back.

Gery and the others follow Darren's advice by not jumping over the corpses. The face of pain imprinted was clearly frozen from the corpses lying around as an expression of how terrifying the deaths of the eight team members were.

The whisper reappeared, an ancient mantra in Latin echoing quietly filled the room. Gery and Nirvana looked at each other. "You hear that voice?" nirwana asked Gery followed by a nod of her loyal assistant.

"Listen, we need to get out of this place as soon as possible. You and the others, take these bodies out. They must be buried properly." Nirvana gives Gery orders.

"I think so too. It's too dangerous if we're here. But what about you?"

"I? This mission must be completed Gery, and this is my responsibility." said Nirwana firmly.

He looked towards the stone box that was already open. For some reason he was not afraid at all, it was precisely the desire to unravel the mystery of the ancient relic was getting bigger. He also looked at Darren who was now staring at the stone chest from a close distance.

"Who is he, I feel his energy is very strong. He's not an ordinary person, he protected me from the strange energy blow earlier. Whoever you are I thank you for saving me so many times" Nirvana said in her heart.

Darren is a mysterious man who comes as a protective god to him. Even so, Darren's heroic attitude did not dampen Nirvana's suspicions on him. Darren heard Nirvana's words, he turned to the woman who had indeed stolen his attention and commented on the smile.

"He smiled at me? Don't-don't she know what I think!" Nirvana is wrong.

Gery and the remaining team members immediately move to clean up the mess in the basement. With makeshift equipment they carried the corpses out of the castle. So did Nicole.

"Contact the relevant party to help us and make sure everything's done before I get out of here."

"Wait for you not to come with us? Can we come back in the morning?" Gery confirms Nirvana's decision.

Nirwana shook her head, "No, my hunch says this should be resolved today as well."

Gery raises both shoulders and asks, "Well, you're the boss here. Hmm, may I ask you something? Who was that guy and why did he remind us of the strigoi? Do you trust him?"

Nirwana let out a long sigh, she looked at Darren from a distance. "Strigoi, urban legend that is believed by the Romanians. The legend of the undead with two hearts that can suck your blood out. It is said that if there is a corpse that is crossed by a human or cat then the corpse is believed to turn into a Strigoi."

"What, so that's true? Well I guess it's just a joke. That guy seems to know something." Gery stared at Darren who was still unmoved from where he stood.

"Go, and wait for me outside!" the orders of Nirvana and Gery soon passed.

"Come safely, prof, and another one of your cameras and microphones is dead so be careful because I can't hear or see you!" gery shouted as he walked.

Nirvana was relieved and also worried, the mission this time a little more complicated when compared to when their research in the region of Babylonian civilization but this is not something that can dampen his intentions.

"It's time to find out what the crate is about."

Nirwana approached Darren, who was on the right side of the chest. "Something interesting?"

"Look at yourself" Darren still unmoved as he stared into the chest.

Nirwana looked into the chest, her eyes wide in disbelief. "empty?!"

Oh my God, is this a joke? If it's true, this joke whoever set this up really doesn't have a high sense of humor!
