After the day that Dikta received Adam's proposal, today Dikta and Adam plan to meet Adam's parents for blessing.
"You ready?" ask Adam before they get out of the car. "Bism."
Dikta breathed a long breath trying to neutralize his feelings when he was going to meet his future father-in-law.
"Insha Allah is ready," Dikta nodded confidently then got out of the car along with Adam.
The two of them then threw eyes at each other upon arriving at Adam's parents' door, then nodded at the same time before Adam knocked on the door.
"Assalamualaikum," said Adam and Dikta simultaneously.
A few missed beats made Dikta's shoulder feel weak, but soon a greeting was heard from a man who was confirmed to be the father of Adam.
"Adam?" The voice came from behind them and Adam and Dikta saw that Adam's father and mother had just got out of their car and were not in the house.
"Dad" Adam walked up to his father and kissed his palm while Dikta also did the same to his future father-in-law.
"Om" Dikta smiled and made Adam's father smile back.
"So this is your future wife Adam?" ask Adam's father who made Adam nod. "Don't call Om, just call Dad, my name is Haris."
Instantly Dikta was nervous with the friendly attitude of Haris' father, but something different was shown Mama Adam who looked cynical looking at Dikta. "This is my wife, her name is Nazwa."
Adam kissed Mama Asti's palm, Dikta wanted to do that too but was not pushed by Mama Nazwa, then Haris' father brought Adam and Dikta into the house.
Dikta's feelings were already uneasy about Mama Nazwa's attitude towards her, not how but it seems that the presence of Dikta was not acceptable to Mama Nazwa
"So? You really want to marry her?" An arrogant voice as Mama Nazwa ..sitting in front of Dikta and Adam sitting side by side. "She's a widow who was stabbed in the middle of pregnancy, what a disgrace the family will be."
Jamb.
Hearing the hateful and hurtful sarcasm made Dikta look down sad, while Adam tried to calm Dikta.
Haris' father rebuked his wife but was not reprimanded by Mama Nazwa
"Ma? No marriage is a disgrace, for all marriages are worth a reward before God, so what is wrong with them?"
to Adam.
"Why should we think of the words of others who cannot bring us happiness? Should we sacrifice happiness to look good in the eyes of others? Bad in the eyes of others is not necessarily bad in the eyes of God, then can they be a place of paradise for judging others? No Ma, even the dirtiest man in the world could have prepared heaven for him instead of us who clearly look clean,"
Dikta was stunned and touched by pride in Adam's defense of maturity to him.
"Mama wants the best for you Adam, you're Mama's only child" Mama Nazwa looked at Adam.
"Even so, never indulge your son who started life with full retardation–bataan," replied Adam rhetorically.
"What could base your marriage on her status?" mama Nazwal asked.
Adam was about to answer but Dikta held his hand and prepared to answer the question himself.
"Some people say, make the status of yourself as the right corridor in the household. At first I thought that the status of a Widow was very bad for me, but I realized, the status of self is not the right foundation in starting a new life but how we live it and its intentions, then, then, does a widow have no right to be happy?" obviously Dikta.
Mama Nazwa and Haris' father were stunned, then they both threw gazes at each other and smiled and clapped to make Adam and Dikta confused themselves.
"You two are the right couple, forgive Mama's sentence well, Mama just tested you," Mama Nazwa hugged Dikta.
Haris' father patted Adam on the shoulder. "Father's son is an adult."
"When did you have your wedding?" ask Mama Nazwa.
Hearing such a question made Dikta and Adam throw one another a glance before answering the question.
