8 To 4: The Mayor's Contract Wife
Nusa Beringin's

After taking about an hour sea trip, Ajeng finally arrived at a small island called Nusa Beringin with a group of other volunteers. The island is the outermost island on Jala island, located on the northern side of Jala Brata Province and is used as an exile for people sentenced to prison for serious crimes.

Although it was a place of prisoner exile, but the island has developed into a bustling village. There are many semi-permanent houses of glucu or coconut trees built in the center of the island. There are also permanent buildings built by the government such as clinics or health centers and guard posts or some kind of police station.

Ajeng followed the volunteers who had id cards like his and they finally arrived at the guard post. They queued for inspection before being allowed into the volunteer mess on the west side of the guard post. Ajeng who is in the last order feels anxious and riled up.

When his turn came to check, the postmaster watched him closely from head to toe and it was enough to make Ajeng more agitated.

"Please go, you can't accommodate a volunteer whose name is not on our list" the postmaster said, showing the paper in his hand.

Without daring to fight back, Ajeng left the post to find a place to stay for a while before it got dark. He watches around. The houses there are on average very small and built semi-permanently using coconut wood as a pillar of the building and coconut leaves are twisted as the roof and walls. There are also how many homes that have used plywood as a wall. And only two or three houses already have brick walls and a precarious roof.

He came to the house of the people to ask for a ride to stay. But even though it has come to almost all houses, Ajeng has not yet found a place to spend the night. He was very tired and decided to stop at one of the small stalls to buy a drink.

“Pak, why won't anyone give me a ride tonight?” kuh Ajeng to the shop owner.

“Home here average small, Neng. It has only two rooms at most and a large number of family members. Will not fit if plus one more guest.” Obviously the shop owner.

“So where should I stay tonight?” tanya Ajeng was desperate.

He had just realized that there was also a place where money was completely worthless because no matter how much he wanted to pay, no one would give him a ride.

“Ah, on the beach there is a person who also just arrived a few days ago. Just ask there!”

Ajeng hurriedly paid for his drink and then went to the beach according to the instructions of the shop owner. There he saw a large tent that had been set up and there was a campfire as well as a small chair from a tree trunk in front of him. He approached the place and looked for the owner but no one answered him.

Feeling very tired, Ajeng went in and sat down in a small chair in front of the tent. After waiting for almost an hour and his back began to cramp, Ajeng decided to lie down inside the tent for a while. Suddenly he heard footsteps approaching.

Out of fear, Ajeng rushed up and out of the tent while looking down to show his sincerity apologizing.

“Sorry, I just took a quick break. I'll pay the rent. Whatever the price.” Cerocos Ajeng did not dare to look at the owner of the tent.

He only saw the man's feet coming closer to him. The teacher is getting scared. Then the man's hand gripped both of his arms and hugged him. Ajeng tried to break away and refused to be hugged carelessly. But the man tightened his embrace.

Feeling forced, Ajeng stomped on the man's feet very hard and his embrace slipped apart.

“Auuuu!” pekiknya while lifting his legs that were stepped on Ajeng.

Ajeng observed the face of the brash man. his face was overgrown ***** and mustache but Ajeng knew very well the owner of the face. A face that is always present in every dream and missed in every breath. “Mas Wira?!”

Wira smiled and re-hugged Ajeng tighter than before.

“Mas Wira can be here?”

Wira led Ajeng to sit on a small chair of tree trunk that he found a few days ago. He then thrust the young coconut water he brought to Ajeng. “Drink first!”

“Two days ago suddenly I was sent here. According to the official report, I was transferred to the Nusa Barong rutan. But the fact is, you see for yourself, right? Instead of being put in jail, I was left free like this.” Obviously Wira is long.

“So –“

"But Mas Wira didn't papa, did he? I'm really worried because I know you're in jail, Mas." said Ajeng while hugging Wira.

"Heem, I also did not expect to experience such an event. But never mind, it's over."

"I'm sorry, Mom?"

Wira flicked Ajeng's forehead. "It's also you who's apologizing. You must have suffered a lot from that accident. How are you doing? And you yourself why are you here?"

“Good, Mas. I survived and Bara sent me here. He said to be free from papa restraints by volunteering at the Nusa Beringin rutan. But in fact I was infiltrated and my id card was deliberately faked in order to get on the ship. He must have failed to enter me into the official name list." explained Ajeng while manyun disappointed.

“Bara? But why would he do that? Isn't he the one who wanted you the most? On your papa's side." asked Wira doubtfully.

The hero grasped both of Ajeng's arms and looked at him in the shade as usual. “What really happened?”

“We got married yesterday.”

And the hand of the Hero instantly detached from Ajeng's arm. The look and look on his face changed instantly. He got up and walked away from Ajeng towards the beach. But Ajeng hurriedly chased after him.

“Mas Wira, wait!”

“Why are you here when you are married?!” snapped Wira without looking at Ajeng.

“Because he just divorced me this morning.”

Wira turned around and looked at Ajeng with a shocked look mixed in disbelief. “You mean?”

“She only married me twenty-four hours to deceive papa and take over my freedom from papa, also to free you from prison.”

“I? Butwhy? I never asked him to let me.”

“I Mas! I asked papa to release you as a condition that I want to marry Bara.”

“You toyed with life and feelings Bara just for the sake of this?”

“Loh why are you even angry with me anyway, Mas? I'm doing this for you, for us. Because I love you, not Bara!” maki Ajeng is no less harsh. But their voices were carried away by the waves and the wind of the beach that kept rolling came to them.

The hero doesn't know what he's feeling right now. Inner raging. He really wanted Ajeng, but that was not the way he wanted all along.

“Mas!”

Wira shook her head and kept walking away from Ajeng.

“Aaaaaauuu!!! Mas! Please!”
