8 To 4: The Mayor's Contract Wife

8 To 4: The Mayor's Contract Wife
Rega's Trap

These few days, Ajeng's attitude changed drastically. He became more silent and daydreaming, no longer energetic and protested as usual. And of course it makes the Hero feel guilty and uncomfortable.

That morning, Wira decided to settle her misunderstanding with Ajeng. He could no longer bear the cold war they were going through right now. He brought a glass of milk to Ajeng and intended to knock on the door of Ajeng's room. But the girl had already opened the door to her room with a bag of clothes and a small tote bag.

“Where are you? How early in the morning gini already neat?”

“Hulu Rod.”

Wira brushed off his own seat because it was so careless that he forgot that that day Ajeng would go with Rega to attend the invitation to the service in Batang Hulu. Not yet he explained anything, Rega's car has come and ready to pick up Ajeng.

“I go first, Mas.”

Wira is still glued to his place while watching Ajeng get into Rega's car. I don't know why he just realized how damn he was as a man.

“Sorry, Sir. Has Bu Ajeng left?” ask Bi Sumi while carrying a lunch box.

“Already. Why Bi?”

“This is Bu Ajeng's supply box left behind. He hasn't had time to eat anything from yesterday.” Bi Sumi.

“Jesus Mister!” Bi Sumi was shocked to see Wira squeezing and breaking the milk glass she was holding. He then hurriedly searched for a broom and mop to clean the floor from milk spills, broken glasses and drops of blood.

Just like his last trip home with Wira, that morning Ajeng was also more silent during the trip to Batang Hulu with Rega. In addition to many things that interfere with his mind lately, he also felt very uncomfortable being in one car alone with Rega.

“If tired, Bu Ajeng can rest while sleeping. Later when I wake up.”

Ajeng. “Ngga wan, Sir. When I sleep, I will not know if Mas Wira calls me.”

‘Wira again Wira again.’ Grunt Rega in the heart.

“By the way does Miss Manda not mind if I go to berua service with Pak Rega like this?”

“Manda good wife. He knows when to be jealous and not.”

“I'm sure Mr. Rega didn't tell Ms. Manda that we were alone.”

“Why Bu Ajeng talks like that.”

“If I call and tell Ms Manda now, is Mr Rega sure I can bear the consequences?”

“Maksut Bu Ajeng what?”

“I don't want any coverage about me. If I had to, I wouldn't hesitate to tell Ms. Manda and tell her the truth.”

“Bu Ajeng threatened me?”

“Bu Ajeng this why the hell? Is there a problem?”

“Pak Rega threatened Mas Wira to force me to Batang Hulu like this is a big mistake. Did Mr Rega not realize that?”

Rega pulled the car over. ”OK, I will contact the committee and request a special line without reporters and coverage.”

He threw his eyes out the car window. He doesn't know what he's doing is right. But after thinking about everything, Wira indeed had no other choice but to obey Rega. But not the same as him. He had many opportunities to suppress and reciprocate Rega's treatment to Wira. And that's what he'll do from now on.

Ajeng had no idea that the day's event turned out to be a massive event, faced by many important officials of the capital and covered by print and electronic media from various well-known news agencies.

“Not Pak Rega said that the committee will prepare a special line?”

“Sorry Mom Ajeng. Looks like they can't meet our request.” Reply Rega relaxed without feeling guilty at all for lying to Ajeng.

The officers had opened the car door for Ajeng and Rega, so Ajeng no longer had a chance to dodge. He was forced to get out of the car and walk into the lobby of the Graha Mukti building which has been transformed into a luxury meeting building.

Ajeng tries to hide himself behind Rega, avoiding cameras and people who might know him. When doing registration, Ajeng deliberately peeked at the list of names of guests who were already present and he found some names that he knew. And suddenly he felt very scared.

Rega stepped casually while occasionally greeting people he knew there, including one of them, Deni, a journalist from a famous newspaper. They are seen talking intimately to each other and Rega deliberately introduces the journalist to Ajeng. Of course it makes Ajeng more panic. He looked around hoping to find a way to escape but in vain.

“I came with the Mayor, let me introduce Mr Deni with him!” said Rega with ease. But when he turned around, Ajeng was no longer behind him. The girl suddenly disappeared.

Rega then went through the entire building, bathroom, parking lot but did not manage to find Ajeng anywhere. He doesn't even have Ajeng's handphond number. And that makes him even more frustrated.

***************

There were too many people there and there were even many security guards standing guard at many points as well as guards who were on standby approaching the VIP guests they were escorting. While he had no idea about the place. Ajeng's face paled and his body trembled violently imagining he would be found and captured in such a crowded place.

“I came with the Mayor, let me introduce Mr Deni with him!” Ajeng heard Rega who was about to introduce him to the senior journalist.

Realizing that Rega intends to trap him, Ajeng attempts to escape. But his steps suddenly came to a halt when he saw the burly security officers stand by at the door. He was completely disoriented, confused, frightened and did not know what to do. Then suddenly someone pulled him in, slipped into the crowd, turned towards the exit and ran towards the parking lot.

“Mas Wira?!”

Wira opened the car door for Ajeng but this time not behind as usual, but in front. He then told Abdi to get off and take over the wheel.

"Abdi?!"

“Urus stuff Bu Ajeng then back to your home!” titah Wira while handing over some money to Abdi then drove the car quickly leaving Graha Mukti.

“Good Sir!”
